    Hello there, jjthurlow.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting issues with touchscreen response:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1827
If your device is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, try the following steps:
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see the Service FAQ for your product.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

Since my iPhone 4S was stuck on the connect to iTunes screen after updating to iOS 7, I followed these instructions and restored.  But nothing changed!  I still have the same picture of a plug with arrow to iTunes.

It is restored now.  Thanks for the comment about disabling firewalls - we did that and tried again and it worked.

  • Lost my music after upgrading to iOS 8

After upgrading to ios 8 I lost all the music downloaded through iTunes (from ripping my CDs), on both iPhone 5 and iPad 3rd generation, except the music purchased online.

Hey Keisha, Are the photos in your iPhoto library on your computer? If so, you should be able to check the photos option in your iPod's summary page in iTunes  and add then back. Hope this helps, Cheers.

  • Laptop crashed, lost iTunes credit

My nieces laptop crashed and she lost the remainder of her iTunes gift card. When she logs in from another PC, it wont let her re enter the code, Also, any hopes of retrieving the purchased music as she did not back up.

The itunes credit is on her account, not on her computer.
She has access to the credit on her account from any computer.
Not backing up will eventually cause big problems.
You can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod ( if the songs are on the ipod). File>Transfer Purchases

  • Lost iTunes Authorizations after Yosemite Upgrade

I was running the latest version of iTunes on Mavericks and it was authorized. I had used all 5 authorizations before starting the upgrade. After upgrading to Yosemite (I did not do an erase and install. I did the standard upgrade) I opened iTunes and noticed it was no longer authorized. I tried to authorize it and saw that all 5 of them were in use. I didn't know what else to do so I logged into my iTunes store account and did the once a year reset. I went back to iTunes and authorized. I have restarted the machine a few times and think it has used up more authorization slots. I went and added my second computer the other day and now it says I have used 4 total. I have done many upgrades over the years (since puma) and have never had this issue before and It all started with the Yosemite upgrade.
Does anyone know what might be causing this or a suggestion for a fix?
    Thanks

I was able to connect to the iTunes store before the upgrade but after going to iTunes 10 I have not been able to. Whats going on?
Are you running any of Symantec's (Norton) or McAfee's Internet security products or anything similar, or an antivirus/antispyware application? Some such utilities treat an upgrade to iTunes as a new application and can block the application from connecting. So you have to go in and reset the utility to allow iTunes. The same thing can happen if you upgrade the security product (this has particularly been a problem with recent McAfee upgrades).
Check the settings for your utility. If iTunes is still listed, remove and re-enable the exception for iTunes. Consult your utility's documentation for the appropriate procedure. If you have Norton, you can find instructions for that utility on Symantec's web page for iTunes. You may also need to check the built-in Windows firewall as well.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPad 2 lost cellular service after upgrade to iOS 8.1

    Device: iPad 2 Model A1397 16GB
My cellular service worked fine prior to the upgrade to iOS 8.1. After completing the upgrade, my cellular connection always says "Searching..." and never finds service. I have tried restoring iOS 8.1 through iTunes, but end up with the same results. I'm new to upgrading apple devices, so I didn't create a backup of my OS prior to upgrading. With Apple not signing iOS 7.1.2 anymore for my device, I'm in a bit of a pickle and cannot revert back. Any suggestions?

Make sure ringer is on and volume is up.

Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this mistery?

On the iPhone, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Restart your iPhone. Try connecting to the iTunes Store.

  • Lost all credit after resetting password.

After opening iTunes this morning i was asked to sign in.When i tried i was continually told my password was wrong and i kept going to the reset screen.it kept saying it had sent emails to me with the link to reset but none ever came thru. Eventually i managed to reset my password only to be told after signing in that i was new to itunes and the credit i had only put on yesterday via an itunes card has now vanished.
Any help or ideas how to get my account back to normal with my credit back on my account.?
    thanks.

While you're waiting to hear from Apple, try logging out and logging back in. It sometimes fixes disappearing credits.

  • IPod touch 4th generation lost all data after updating to iOS 5.0

I recently updated my iPod touch 4th generation from iOS 4.3 to iOS 5.0. However, when I went to access my iPod touch, all the app data was gone. My spending app was blank, my game stats were gone, and everything was lost.

Try to restore from the latest backup taken before the update.

  • Lost iTunes Library after upgrading to iTunes 7.7 HELP PLEASE

I have two issues on hand : after upgrading to iTunes 7.7 I opened iTunes and all of my music was gone except for about 1,000+ songs (3.2 GB) when I originally had about 20GB worth of songs. How can I recover my full library into iTunes ?
Second issue: when importing new CDs into iTunes 7.7 it only plays a fraction of each song before moving on to another song, whereas iTunes shows that I have the full song imported.
I really appreciate someone's help here, and does the latest version of iTunes have a bug ??

Further to my last post, I find that the purchased songs have been retained in the iTunes Library of my Mac Book - is there any way iI can restore them to the iMac?

  • Lost iTunes Sharing after latest updates

I was sharing my iTunes over an Airport Express/Ethernet network among three Macs (Powerbook G4, iMac G5, G4 DA) and a PC). I updated all 3 of the Macs to iTunes 6.0.4, OS 10.4.5 and latest Security Update. (I did not use Software Update; I downloaded from the Apple Downloads and then applied the updates to each computer. I did the usual permissions repair, etc.) I can no longer share iTunes to or from the iMac. The Powerbook will share with the G4 DA. The iMac and the Powerbook are both networked over the Airport so the Airport Express is not the problem.
The iMac lists both of the other computers in the "Source" list "Shared Music" but when I try to choose one of the other computers, I get the spinning beachball and then after a long time:
The shared music library "Other Computer's Name" is not accessible for an unknown reason (-3259) (or sometimes (-3263))
Check that any firewall sortware running on either the shared computer or this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689.
I have checked the firewall and sharing settings and everything is correct.
On the other 2 Macs the iMac doesn't even show up in the source list at all even though it is set to share all the music. I am guessing I need to reset a preferences file on the iMac.
I tried searching on this topic in the knowlegebase and earlier discussions, but it seems all the pertinent links are broken.

I thought I'd mention this... After upgrading my PowerMac G4 with 10.4.6 I suddenly couldn't share printers. The printer and the PowerMac G4 wouldn't even appear in the listings to connect. It was like the G4 disappeared.
For the life of me I couldn't figure out what happened. Then finally I found the problem. The network on my wireless airport was connected to another wireless network. Somehow during the uprade my G4 was pointing to someone elses wireless router signal it was picking up.
You can verify this if you click the airport icon on the right side of the OS X toolbar menu. You can then select your own airport network.
This of course is only if you use an airport network.
Just a thought and wanted to throw it out there.. Simple problem but it took me a little while to find it. And it happened immediately after upgrading the G4.
