Lost iweb files, can I reload them ?

I lost all my iweb files from my hard drive. I did however have them stored on my web server and my web sites were thus unaffected. I have decided I want to update one of the sites. I have opened iweb but cant figure out how to get the previous saved web site up to edit. I have downloaded the exact same folder I had stored on my server to my desktop.
Is there a way to bring my old site up to edit ?

Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:
http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html
...Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb.
You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.

Once I deleted my music files can I get them back via I cloud? I have Itunes match on.

I actually deleted my backup :-) That's the problem. But thanks.
I've managed to get some back but via a slightly different method.
Because the files weren't there, when I deleted them from my library they actually disappeared from the list.... So I created a new library (backed up my original one) and then synched that with Match so that all the files appeared. I'm just going through the ones I'm missing clicking 'download' and then when they're all back on my hard drive I'll revert to the previous Library which will hopefully pick up all of the recovered files.
    Bingo!

I accidentally deleted photo files, is there any way to undo or retireve them?

I spoke too soon! The Picassa 3 photos do not import well into my elements
program!  I just don't understand why, when I accidentally deleted the
files from elements, they don't show up in the trash bin. I looked/searched for
the pictures...they seem gone! Is it time to call in a tech? I really
appreciate  your help with this, you can imagine how distraught it is to lose
    about 6,000  pictures!!!

  • Lost iWeb file, how can I get it from web?

I have a iWeb webiste published, but I lost the file in iWeb. Is there a way to download the page from the internet and continue to edit it with iWeb?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
As you are learning somewhat painfully, iWeb stores all data created in the application in a single file, Domain. This file, by default, is placed on your hard drive in this location.
iWeb generates html as it publishes your site; it is not possible to import published pages back into the application. You will have to copy and paste as much as possible from your pages as viewed from a browser.
Make sure to back up this file from now on. Varkgirl has given us a great little automator app which can be downloaded free here. Use this app for duplicating your Domain file for backup purposes.

  • Lost files - can I get them off my published website?

I managed to delete everything when I installed Leopard yesterday. This includes the files I had on iweb that created my web page. My web page is still live - is there anyway I can download the files back on to my computer or will I lose everything?
    thanks

to rebuild your lost site you can at least follow this http://alyeska.altervista.org/en/iWebRetrieveWebsite.html as it will lessen the time you need to rebuild it, so follow what this link has to say, then once you publish and all looks good, make sure to make a backup copy of the domain file....!

  • Desktop files---can i trash them

two files/folders are on my desktop---.DS_Store and iTunes.dmg.
can i trash them---can anyone tell me why they appeared on my desktop.
    thanks

.DS_Store (and any files beginning with ".") should be invisible. Have done something special to make them visible? .DS_Store holds viewing options for the folder it is in. If you delete it, custom settings will be lost.
iTunes.dmg is used for installing iTunes. Once the installation is complete, you can delete it.

  • Two of my playlists have been lost.  How can i get them back?

Two of the playlist that I created are lost and not showing up.  Can I retrieve them somehow and not re-create?  I wonder why only two of the 8 are missing?

    Hi Steven Groothuis,
If you are having issues importing video files into iMovie, you may want to double check the following article just to make sure the process is the same:

  • Computer crashed - lost iweb files - how to update webpages now?

    greetings,
my hard drive crashed this week. my iweb files are not recoverable. i have reinstalled my OS and ilife on my NEW hard drive. is it at all possible to access my webpages through iweb and continue to edit them? i absolutely cannot figure out how to do this.
    thanks.

I take it you're publishing to a commercial hosting service. There should be a way for you to download your published files to your computer in order to use some of the files, photos, graphics, audio, etc. that you used initially to create the site in the iWeb reconstruction.
If you publish the iWeb site to the same server and with the same site name it will replace the current site and the domain name will point to it. That's essentially doing an edit and republish in iWeb or any other web application.

  • Have some songs that have a dotted cloud (waiting) how can I reload them into the cloud?

How can I reload songs to the icloud?

Either redownload them directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
or sync them to your iPod via iTunes

I think I just reset my macbook pro and i lost everything. Can I take them

If by reset you mean you wiped the disk and reinstalled it, your only hope is a backup unless you had some things stored in iCloud. You could get the iCloud stuff back.

  • Lost all event files -- can't locate them anywhere. Please help.

All of my work has just disappeared. Please help if you can. I'll describe my steps to help you understand what occurred.
    1. I was working in an event folder with a name "New Event 7-17-09." There were numerous videos inserted as cutaways and other elements.
    2. On two occasions I had error messages that a video was not able to copy in. I noticed a half black-half gray icon. I re-generated the videos. The first time I had quit iMovie and relaunched, only to find that all of my source videos were gone from the event pane. I had to re-import them.
    3. Just now it happened again. I was afraid to quit and lose the video again so I took a chance and clicked on another event date and tried to import this video that couldn't be copied. Well, it copied okay. HOWEVER, the event date I was working in, "New Event 7-17-09," has now disappeared completely. And again -- all of the source videos are gone when I click around in the project pane. The videos only now exist in the work folder they were imported from...not from within iMovie. They are not in the Movie folder.
    4. I checked "Show Contents" and there are no project files in there.
So I am left with a project pane but no event pane with all of these source files. I have lost, in essence, all of my work.
I didn't delete anything, I didn't move anything. I just clicked once in a different event pane, and then all of what I had was gone.
Can you please tell me where else I can look?
Does this program utilize some kind of strange file system or something?
Any help you can offer is very much appreciated.

.. I'll look into Time Machine but, with 400GB in data already, I'd have to be saving to a 1TB drive -- right? Very shortly, another 500GB wouldn't be enough.
Timemachine is one of the most underestimated (english?) features of 10.5.
It is as simple as that (a no-click application )
and it is not just a backup of 'all', you can select down to a single file, what to be recovered..
speaking of TBs: I have 3 iPhoto Libs (~20k pics), Timemachine backups on the hour, and I do manually 'clone' twice a year onto a 3rd HDD... -
when hopefully this year I switch from tape to SDcard video, I'll spend another 100€ on the next TB-drive.. latest offer in the papers here: 1TB=66€..
long term storage IS an issue in these 'digital times' ... - future historians will call it the 'Black Hole in History' => no documents of this period in time, due to 'data loss' ...- any cheap paperback lasts longer than any digicam still/video..
