Lost iWeb project file...

Hi! My iWeb project file was lost because I had to reinstall OS X. The website though is still visible via a browser. It is safely uploaded on the ftp server. How can I change it/access it without the original project file in iWeb?? Help??

Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the creation of the new site.

  • IWeb Project File

Hi, I recently zeroed out my hard drive to do a clean install.
I've now reinstalled everything but can't seem to find the project file for iWeb.
I have my old system backed up so everything that used to be there should still be available.
Where does iWeb store the Project file and contents for a sites?
    Thanks,
    Michael

It's regularly discussed in this forum. The domain file is in:
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
Where ~ is your Home directory.
You need to restore it from your backup.

  • FCPx, Lost two project files suddenly.

Working in FCPx 10.1.4, 10.9.5 operating system, we edited two different projects in one event folder.  They were there, then they were gone!   They're not in a hidden folder.  We can see the project file when you open package contents, but it will not load.  Only code comes up on a pop-up screen.  Any advice?

Sorry for under-estimating your FCP X experience. (Was in response "only code comes up".)
Possibly the data base has been corrupted. With the app closed you could trash the flexolibrary file; or you could open the last backup library. If it were my projects, I would start with the latter approach.
    Best of luck.

  • Lost iweb project

My harddrive crashed and I lost the iweb program.
I still have the homepage files saved and now I got a new iweb but my settings are gone.
Is it possible to recreate the site from the files or from the homepage?
Or do I have to re do it?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can use some of the files from the published site to help you rebuild the new one. Like photos, graphics, etc. See Paragraph 2.3 of this page for some tips: http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html

  • Is It Possible To Recover A Lost Muse Project File?

A hard drive where I kept my Muse file crashed and is gone. The only backup file is several weeks old and would be lots of work recreating all the changes. I did not have any auto-save feature. Is there a way to retrieve or rebuild my site from some other source or is it stored anywhere else that I don't know about? Like the material that gets uploaded when you publish the site?
I'm hoping there is a way to rebuild my site from this 'Export Folder' I found when I recovered my backup. The original file was not backed up, but this folder was here probably from my last 'publish'

Well, thanks, but I won't be figuring this out anytime soon. Because i have never used DW, it does not give me option to import Business Catalyst site because one doesn't show up, although I do have one from Muse. Problem is, when I open DreamWeaver, it assumes I already have a DW site to open. I imagine I coiuld then find the associated Catalyst site. Because I don't have a DW project, there is nothing there. When I click, 'Impoort Site' it takes me to my MuseExport folder that I started this thread with. But I don't know where to go from here, or what exactly in these folders I need to import to open the rest of the site. Is it the index? I tried several with no results.

  • Where does the iWeb application save project files when using File-- Save ?

I have mastered publishing my site pages to my webhost by saving to a folder and uploading via FTP, but I am wondering when I use the File Save (assuming I am saving an Iweb project file), where is that file stored by default?

  • How can i copy/export my iweb-projects?

I'd like to export my iMac's iWeb projects Files for editing them on my macbook air. The file(s) should be in the following Path as i read in several boards:
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
But the folder doesn't exist (though iWeb works).
So where can i find the files under my system:
    iMac 27" Mid 2011
    OS X Lion 10.7.4
    iLife 11
    iWeb 3.0.4
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

If the instructions are too difficult, do this.
    In the Finder do command-shift-G
    Paste this :
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/
    Hit return.
    Or watch this :

  • Project Files Disappear

Without any rhyme or reason, our Premiere Pro and some After Effects project files are disappearing.  We will save our project to our project folder on the NAS and an hour or two later the file will be gone. This has happened 5 or 6 project files already.  Why is this happening?  And how can I make it stop?  We've lost quite a bit of work even from going back to auto-save files.

I think we have discovered the issue.  We have an SNS EVO shared storage system.  Part of it is setup as a SAN and part is setup as a NAS.  We store footage on the SAN and project files on the NAS.  It turns out, the clock on our EVO was getting out of sync.  It had to be set manually because our EVO server is not connected to the internet for security reasons. So it didn't have a clock or time server to get the date and time from.  So over time, the clock went out of sync from our edit machines.  Because of this, whenever we would save project files, the machines saving them knew the correct date and time but the NAS had a completely different time.  So when saving the file it would overwrite the currently saved file but then it wouldn't be able to save the new copy because of time issues.  So we had to setup one of our machine to serve the time directly to the NAS.  Now the clocks sync up and we haven't lost a project file in a few days.  I'm still monitoring it closely but it looks like the problem is resolved.
I know I did a terrible job of describing that.  Basically... it looks like it wasn't a Premiere issue, but rather an issue with our NAS.

  • Working on an iWeb project from different macs?

I have created and iWeb page with my G5 and am going out of town for 10 days. I would like to continue updating my site with my iBook G4. But I can't find the iWeb project files to transfer to my iBook. There surely has to be a way to do this.

    Hi Jason,
First off you want to backup your iweb sites. Go to the HD, your home folder (with the house icon) library - application support - iweb. Inside this folder you will find a domain file, back this up to another HD. Once you have it backed up you can make a copy of this file. Put this file in the same folder on your ibook and you will have your sites there to work on. Good lucke

  • Changing iWeb 'projects'?

I've been creating so many websites using iWeb over the years.  Every time I created a NEW iWeb project file, which I kept in a separate folder.  So each website project, when opened in iWeb, was a separate instance of iWeb.  (iWeb ver. 3.04)
I just upgraded to OS 10.8.5.  (that's the OS just before Mavericks).
Now when I click a particular iWeb project file ... it doesn't open in iWeb, instead iWeb opens up and is displaying one of my other websites; the website I was working on before I upgtraded the OS.  Now matter which website project file I open ... iWeb displays that same original website, not the one I'm trying to open.
    Something has changed.
    Any ideas?
    Ben

    Hi Wyodor,
I'm not having much luck with your suggestion above.  I've tried all three choices and none seem to work.  I can't drag ANY file into the iWebSites app.  App won't accept file.  The instructions in or on the app itself aren't crystal clear.  I've tried every configuration I can imagine, based on the instructions, and all I ever get is iWeb opening in a new project with its template pop-up window open for me to choose a template.
Strange.  And I remember when I used to be able to create an iWeb project, rename the Domain file (in the Finder Window) and then open the named project by double clicking it.  I had a whole collection of Domain.sites2 projects.
This is what the iWebSites looks like when I open it (see attachment).  I can't drag ANY file into it.  As you can see the instructions are a bit confusing.  I create a 'New Site' by double-clicking the New Site button.  Then I double-click on the 'soundtosleep' folder (the last step before I seen all the pages in the site listed?).  iWeb opens up as a new empty project.  No sign of the 'soundtosleep' website.  Could it be I'm doing something wrong?  I tried it your way - in your little demo video, but whatever I try to drag into iWebSites won't go, just pops back.  Perhaps I have a corrupted iWebSites?  I've downloaded it twice with the same results.
    All ears, Ben

I did manage to save a lot of user file documents but I don't see or
recognize the iWeb site file. It was on a 15" G4 Titanium pb.
I'm trying to find a way, using version 2.0.4 of iWeb on a different
pb to recover the file into the iWeb app or a way to download the site into iWeb.
There are 6 pages of images and text, and it
would be a task for me to recreate the whole thing again. I did
download the site but I don't know how or if I can get iWeb to see it and open it.
Does anyone have any knowledge about this? The link to my site:

Unfortunately iWeb cannot read or import previously published files, only generate them.  You'll have to recreate your site from scratch.
However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing files, image, audio, video, etc., from the published site in the recreation of the site.

  • Re-interpreted footage metadata is lost when moving Premiere Pro CC 2014 project file to different computer

    Hi guys,
I believe this is just a bug in Premiere Pro CC 2014 (and other versions in the past), but I wanted to make sure it was on the PP team's plate for the next update, since it's detrimental to a workflow that include more than one computer or more than one editor on a project.
My team shoots a lot of footage in slow-motion (for instance, 59.94 for 23.976). Premiere's process to conform this footage is great. Modify -> Interpret Footage -> Assume this frame rate: "23.976".
Unfortunately, when we move this project file to another system, even if we are using a hard-drive that is synced to have the exact same source media files with the exact same file structure, we lose the footage interpretation metadata. Premiere Pro CC thinks this footage is 59.94 again, and our sequences are in shambles. All clips where the interpretation metadata is lost have "zebra pin stripes" on them wherever they exist in our sequences.
We have to manually re-interpret the footage, and then sometimes manually re-select in and out points. This is a work-around that enables us to push forward, but it's a barrier that makes collaborative editing extremely challenging and opens up rampant possibility for error. It's hard to locate every clip we need to re-interpret in some of our more complex projects, and even harder to avoid re-interpreting the wrong clips.
Looking forward to a resolution to this problem.

Guys I solved my own problem - thought I'd share with you how in case anyone else is having this problem -
    I came across this thread
Premiere Pro CC error message and crash
    which had the suggestion -
"Do tou have after effects installed? If yes, please try to import the main sequence into it and then export it as premier pro project from file/export ootion and then try to open that in premiere pro."
This didn't work for me too but I did try and import my existing project into a new project and copy all the files over. Works fine now.
I don't know if I will have the same issue again tomorrow so I'm going to render out a super high res video before I close premiere just in case

  • How can I save an iWeb project as a single file so that I can easily upload it?

I am trying to upload an iWeb project that I made to space on our campus server, but I need to rename it index.html. Is there any way to save the project as one file that I can name index.html and then upload it to our organization's space?
    Thanks!

A site iWeb publishes is not a single file but a folder with content. The folder contains a lot of files.
And iWeb also creates an index.html file that redirects to the first webpage in your site.
So publish to a folder and then examine the content of the folder with the sitename.
If you mean by project, the domain file iWeb uses to store its assets, then simply make it an archive. There'se no need the rename  it index.html, first of all because it's not a webpage. The extension "zip" is enough.

hi i have just completed an imovie project and tried to save a hard copy on the desktop so i dragged the project file from the home page then movies folder and now the prioject seems to be lost , how can i get it back ?

It's a Finder feature, related to Quick Look. You can hit the space bar in the file list to get a preview.
If that doesn't work, you may have an issue witha  preference file or similar. I find rebuilding the launch databse works quite well resilving tis kind of thing, as does trashing Finder preferences
