Lost "junk" icon and file

Anyone know how I can replace my "junk" file and original icon? I somehow deleted the entire junk file, and can't seem to replace the way it worked.
Thanks!!

With a received message open, at the menu bar go to View and select Customize Toolbar.
Drag Junk to the message toolbar.
If disappeared from the main Mail.app toolbar, do the same for this toolbar.

  • Lost all application and file icons and more

Today i discovered that for some reason i could not drag files around on the desktop or moving them between folders. I used restarted the mac - nothing changed. I used OnyX to run all the maintenance tasks, repair prefs, clean caches, optimize system, etc... Onyx asked for system restart - which i did and now i have more problems than before.
after restart all the files on my desktop lost the application associations (ie icon changed from PDF icon to blank paper with folded corner). I opened the Applications folder to find that all the applications lost their correct icons and are now represented by a blue folder - all native osx applications, mail, safari, etc... as well as third-party apps. the only one that kept its icon correctly was Adobe Acrobat 7.0.
Dock lost all it's correct application icons and now just show folders and some gray question marks. Finder and Trash bin still have correct icons. Everything else is wrong. Question marked apps won;t open from dock... (these are mail, safari, and sherlock)
If i click on an application from applications folder (safari for example) it opens fine and does what it is supposed to do. Most other apps seem to still function.
Also stil have problem that files still could not be dragged around or moved around in Finder.
I'm running 10.2.8 on a G4 1.25dp tower that has been very stable for a long time. I have no idea what happened or how to fix.
Please help if you can.. thanks!!

I gave up fighting to figure out what was wrong with OS X. I just repartitioned the harddrive after backing up and re-installed the OS an applications.

  • Lost SMS Icon and get error message Uncaught exception Index 20 = 20

    Dear All
I have lost my SMS Icon and looking at previous forums have carried out the following techniques which do not work
    1. I have gone to Messages - Options - SmS & Email Inboxes - Seperate but this does not solve anything
Within this step i have switched off phone taken out battery etc...
    2. I have gone to Applications - menu - "show all" but my SMS icon cannot be found
Just to note even when i go to Messages - View Folder - SMS Inbox .....i get the error message again
    Uncaught exception Index 20 > = 20
Anyone able to help ? Would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

You may have already figured out your fix - but yesterday I went thru the same thing with my son's phone.  Overnight he lost his SMS & MMS Icon and was receiving Uncaught Exception Index 28 >= 28.  I called Verizon Tech Support and was told there was a corrupt file in the calendar.
We backed up the phone using the Desktop Manager - performed a security wipe and restored his phone.
His phone is back up and running as it should be.  Hope this helps.

  • Help! Lost original folders and files and trying to update website with new information

I lost the original folders and files for my website. I have new files to upload to the site but when I synch, the website still shows the original files. How do I get rid of the old and replace with the updated website files?

    1.  Are you sure that you are uploading to the proper folder on the remote site?
(have to ask as some people don't realise that the files need to go into a specific folder as specified by their host).
    2.  Could it be a cache issue with the ISP,  Sometiimes it take a while for new files to display if the old ones are still being cached at the ISP level.

  • OS resetting icon and file settings

My system seems to be having some issues. Small and annoying. When I turn the machine off, when I turn it back on I am occassionaly losing my blue tooth, Wireless, speaker and charging, time and data icons. This time they stayed but I lost my file background color and how they are arranged. Any ideas?

no one answered but I will reformat hard drive and reinstall os

  • My AOL account on Firefox got hacked and I lost all contacts and file folders. Is there anyway I can find a backup file and reload??

My AOL account is on Mozilla/firefox, I do not have a disk loaded version. Unfortunately, I stupidly gave a "AOL Support" service my password, they got into my account, sent emails to my contact list, and cleared out my contacts as well as my saved folders. I immediately changed my password, but still lost the files.
Is there a procedure I can use to recover those AOL files??

You should contact AOL directly. They probably make backups every so often. Might not be up-to-date, but it's a better bet than combing through old cache files on your PC.

  • Trashed desktop icon and files

Please don't ask why or how - but I have trashed the desktop icon along with its files. It is the icon seen on the left after clicking on the desktop hard disk icon. It is with other icons like documents, movies, music, etc. I have tried to removed it from the trash and return it to it correct place but it won't allow me to do so. I have tried pulling the trashed files back to the desktop but when I click on a file I see the message "Unable to open because file is in trash".
    Any suggestions?
      Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Hi James
Your post confuses me. Are you saying that you have trashed the Desktop icon from the very left hand of a Finder window, i.e. the Sidebar? If this is so, then that is not the actual Desktop folder, but just a link to the folder. It can be removed from the Sidebar, but not trashed.
Anyway, your Desktop files are now apparently residing in the Trash. Files in the Trash should be able to be just dragged out again. You cannot open a file in the Trash, but you should be able to open the Trash and then just drag the files back to the Desktop or wherever.
In an open Finder window, in column view, click once on your HD and then navigate through to users, "you". Is there a desktop icon there? Is there anything in it?
This all seems quite strange to me.

  • I've lost reload icon and all captions with icons. Help.

I installed a Mozy update, restarted, and found that firefox had lost the captions with the icons, the reload icon altogether. The customize box covers nearly the whole page and doesn't include as much as it used to. My Autofill is gone. And there is not Navigation Bar listed int the toolbars box.

Did you just move from Firefox Beta 28.0 to Firefox Beta 29.0? What you are experiencing is the new "Australis" user interface.
On first run, Firefox 29 should present a tour orienting you to the toolbar and menu bar changes. If that didn't run, perhaps there is a way to trigger it again? (I haven't tried it myself.)
If you prefer the familiar user interface of Firefox 28.0, you can install the "release" version in place of the beta version. A backup might be a good idea, but you don't need to remove the beta.

  • Most of my bookmarks have lost their icons and are redirected to the BBC News website. Why? Is this a virus? How do I get them back?

My icons are missing from my bookmarks and when I click on let's say chase banking, I am taken to BBC News.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Lost my dock and file menus

I hate when I mis-type and hit something that causes a reaction I can't undo. I am working in Photoshop CS3 and I meant to type "Front" and I may have pushed the cmd or option key with it. I am not sure, but now I have a black pasteboard and I cannot access my dock or the file menus; they have disappeared. I have my programs broken up in segments so I could get back to my browser, but I can get my Photoshop window back to a regular layout. What is the button to push?

    >The "fn" key"??? is that fn as in *******' or fn as in Windoze?
No sounds like he's got a Laptop. fn as in function I guess. An extra key for a short Keyboard. I have one on my iBook I don't use it much.

  • I have restored my iphone, i lost all icons and tel. book, how cam i reinstall everything

can i get help reinstalling my iphone after restarting

Restore again from your dad's backup. Hopefully he had his phone backed up, didn't he? If he didn't then his data is POOOF!
The only consoltation id if he used iCloud to synch, his contacts might still be "on the cloud".

  • Lock screen has lost notification icons and replaced with "verizon wireless"

Is there a way to get rid of the "verizon wireless" name on my notification bar when the phone is in lock screen? This changed after the lollipop update. This forces you to unlock screen to see what notifications are pending. I don't need to see that I have verizon wireless. I know my provider.

lol, I agree...a very unnecessary change, seeing how VZW brands the phone enough.

  • Generic icons for files and compact flash

Can anyone tell me why an old G4 can display 'LEXAR' compactflash icons and file icons have picture previews, but the same card and reader attached to MacMini shows generic icons and blank document icons for files?...
    Both running 10.4.10

Hi Eric, the answer is simple....Not at all!!!!
I've customized many, as well as, use of ShapeShifter for different themes...

  • HT2513 I have a Macbook pro and I've lost my ical and widget icons. It says it's in the trash but I can't find it.

I have a Macbook pro and I've lost my ical and widget icons. It says it's in the trash but I can't find it.

    Hey Shady K,
It sounds like you've removed the iCal and Widget icons from your dock and want to get the back there for easy access. The following document goes over dock basics and there's a section (which I copied below) that goes over how to get those icons back on to the dock. Essentially you'll just find the application's icon in your applications folder and drag it back.
    Mac Basics: The Dock
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2474
    Adding and removing Dock items
If you want to add an application to the Dock, click the Launchpad icon in the Dock and drag the application icon to the Dock; the icons in the Dock will move aside to make room for the new one. If you want to add a file or folder to the Dock, just drag its icon from any Finder window (or the desktop) and drop it on the Dock. The resulting icon that appears in the Dock is actually an alias of the original item (it's kind of a pointer to your original item). If you drag an application or file onto the Dock, you'll be able to open it anytime by simply clicking its docked icon. If you drag a folder onto the Dock, a Finder window of the folder's contents will display when you click the folder icon in the Dock.
To remove an item from the Dock, drag its icon an inch or more off the Dock and wait a couple seconds, then release; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke. There are some icons that you can't remove from the Dock, such as the Trash and the Finder.
Don't worry, you aren't permanently removing the item from your computer; you simply got rid of its Dock icon. If you want that item back in the Dock, locate the application, file, or folder in the Finder (or with Spotlight), and drag it back into the Dock.
    Hope that helps,
    David
