Lost Library and Rebuild Help Needed
Hi, I was on here a few months ago, still haven't solved my problem so I'd thought I'd post my questions again. I had a library of 11,000+ photos that one day decided not to show up in iPhoto. I just saw black boxes and ! everywhere my photos normally would've been. My library icon was still on my external drive, and if I "explore contents" all my pictures are there in the modified and originals folders but they don't show up in iPhoto.
I have tried to rebuild using iPhoto Library Manager and the iPhoto rebuild function. I get the message that my hard disk is almost full and I need to delete some files. The pictures and all iPhoto Libraries are located on an external drive with 200+ GB of space free. My Mac HD is almost full, and I've deleted what I can but don't know what else to delete without hurting anything.
I would like a new library created with my 11,000+ photos, without getting an error message. Why would iPhoto care if my Mac HD is almost full, if I'm putting everything on my external drive that has plenty of space? How do I get my library back? Thanks!
Oh, TD I just found your reply to a similar question on a different post, on how to rebuild my library. I am going to try it using the Originals folders as you suggested. However, I seem to run into a problem while importing, I only have about 5 GB free on my laptop hard drive and about halfway through the importing it tells me my hard disk is full and the rest of the photos can't be imported. I have deleted any programs and files off my disk that I don't need, I don't know what else to remove without hurting my comp. I downloaded whatsize and it tells me what sizes everything is but I can't figure out which files to delete. Any suggestions? It's still importing to my external drive, but while it's doing that it looks like it's still filling up space on my laptop for some reason and I don't know where to go from there. Did any of that make sense?

Lost library and playlistgs/smartlists after upgrade
I just downloaded the latest itunes and have lost about one third of my library and all play lists and smart lists. poof! I have searched the hard drive and all of the music is there in the music folder (including that which was not included in the library after the upgrade - why wasn't it all put back in?). So my questions are: (1) Is there any way to retrieve the smartlists and play lists? (2) How do I get all of my music from the music folders into the library?

Every time I connected my iphone4 back to Itunes. It showed a pop-up menu said " Itunes was interrupted while restoring the contents of the iphone, would you like to restore this iphone again now?" but when I clicked "continue restore" button. It showed another pop-up menu said "an error occurred while restoring this iphone(-50)." Please see the pictures at below.
I think all the backup contents are still there. I have googled about this problem. I found many people has suffered this, but I couldn't find any solution.
Please help! Those contents are so important to everyone of us, especially the phone contacts. Thanks! -
Photos disappeared from Library and Rebuilding with iPhoto Libr. Mgr worse
1. For several days, when I attempted to transfer photos from Iphoto to Ofoto, the programs would freeze and I couldn't do the transfer.
2. When that problem disappeared, I created a few small albums, uploaded them on Ofoto, and sent them out via the Kodak website.
3. A day or so later, I found that those albums in iPhoto, as well as one in Iphoto that I had NOT uploaded to Ofoto, were empty--no photos. I discovered that all the photos were in the trash.
4. I selected the "trashed" photos and put them into the Photo Library. They then re-appeared in their original albums.
5. After this, I discovered that the "last roll" file (uploaded from the camera) within the past couple of days was blank. These photos were NOT in the trash.
After these events, and following advice I saw in this Forum, I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager and rebuilt the Library. During the course of the rebuilding a single error message appeared during "Merge," concerning one of the albums in the Library (I clicked "skip") and 13 error messages during "Adding photos to album" (I clicked "skip"). At the end of the rebuilding there was an error message "2817 photos succdessfully copied. 80 photos could not be copied because they could not be found in Library." (They were listed in the Console of Applications/Utilities.)
In addition to losing those 80 photos (all the new ones in Last Roll), the remaining photos are scattered more or less randomly in the different albums.
Any suggestions on how to retrieve those 80 lost photos and unscramble the mess?Sorry - guess I missed your post somehow
1. When you say trash the IPLM library, you mean the folder called "Rebuilt Library" that is in the Finder/Pictures, right?
Yes - as I understand it the rebuild library is worse than the original one
2. Any suggestions on how to back up the iPhoto library?
Copy it somewhere - just have a copy before you start so if things go wrong you still have what you started with - drag it to an external drive or select it and duplicate it - just do it as one operation not in small pieces
3. Since I'm using iPhoto 4.0.3, I think I have to launch the program holding Tab and alt keys; is this right?
Probably - I frankly do not remember back to iPhoto 4 for this detail - using the wrong key combination will not create a problem

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions

I have a table on a 10.2.0.3 database which contains a clob field (sql_stmt), with contents that look something like:

I wanted to extract all the tags from the sql_stmt field for a given row, so I can get my (well not "mine" - I'd never have designed something like this, but hey, it works, sorta, and I'm improving it as and where I can!) pl/sql to replace the tags with the correct values. A tag is anything that's in triangular brackets (eg. <RUNID> from the above example)
So, I did this:

Is anyone able to suggest a better method of trying to extract my tags from the clob column, please?

BoneistI don't know if it may work for you, but I had a similar activity where I defined sql statements with bind variables (:var_name) and then I simply looked for witch variables to bind in that statement through this query.

Various Direct Debit and Billing Help Needed
FAILURE TO DELIVER BILL IN PAPER FORMAT: Firstly when I discovered that my account number was encrypted in the email and that I could not pay the bill online, without having the whole account number in full - I contacted BT who told me that they would post my bill and it would arrive in paper form. A week later, no sign of it so phoned again and again I was told that another paper copy would be sent out - waited another week - still no sign! Got a reminder email that my bill had not been paid - doh! I knew that but I was trying to get that sorted out! So phoned again today and the guy in India or wherever the heck he is, told me that he would setup a profile on BT.com for me and this would allow me to pay online.
TEMPORARY ACCESS TO BT.COM?: The email address which this member of staff had set up on BT.com for me was identical to my old btinternet.com account minus a number! The new email address with this new account is somewhat different and when I try to edit simple information on the profile page, it does not allow me to do so. Can anyone explain why?
UNABLE TO SET UP DIRECT DEBIT: I log-in to My BT (whether it's temp. access or not) and then click on Bills and Payments but instead of more options I get a graphic which has got "Ugrade to an online account" on one side and "Help with Billing and Payments" on the other side. When I click on "see all billing and payments help" nothing happens and in fact NONE of the links work.
Would it be the better idea to re-register with BT.com and this time put the correct BT email address in, the one that i was given with this account - see if it works that way?

It all looks a bit messy and you need to get BT's help in sorting it out. The moderators who oversee this forum are jolly good at that and you can contact them here: Contact BT Care Team.
They are busy and may take a few days to respond but will contact you by email or phone, and will have access to your account in order to put things straight.

TS1489 Lost library and non functioning itouch
My itouch told me to plug it into itunes. Itunes wouldn't recognize it, so I uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it. Now itunes doesn't have my library and I don't have a functioning itouch. How can I fix this?
- Go to Settings>General>Restrictions and check to see if the Restrictions are set that hide Safari and YouTube (iOS 5 and below only)
- Use the Spotlight search since maybe you just can't find the apps
- The links wil not work since Safari is not available -
TS1474 Lost several albums *completely* from iTunes library AND iPod-HELP
Sooo I had been using my laptop for iTunes purchases, management, etc., and then the thing crashed and has never been revived. I decided to begin using the desktop computer to access iTunes instead, and in the process of syncing a new purchase to my iPod, somehow inadvertently lost several older albums that I had purchased earlier. Now when viewing my library on either iPod or iTunes library on desktop computer, they do not appear to be present. Are they truly gone? All that money spent..poof? Please advise!

It appears that the mess resulted in the iPod seeing the computer/iTunes library as a new computer/iTunes library. If you sync to a new computer your iPod gets erased and the media in the iTunes library ends up on the iPod. -
ITunes 8 lost library and all applications for the iPhone 3g
I am on WinXP Prof, using iTunes v8. This is second time I lost my entire library with ratings, applications, etc. for my iPhone 3g. The first tie it happened to iTunes v7, now with v8.
Music folder (it is on another HDD) is still there, but iTunes shows no playlists, no files. I looked at other posts on how to rebuild the library, but could not restore song ratings. I did not have a backup of the library files (only music mp3s).
Now I re-created the library from scratch (glad iTunes writes song data into mp3 and not into its library file.)
QUESTION: How do I restore all of my applications that I bought and free ones from the App Store for iPhone? I see that the "Mobile Applications" folder is there with all of the *.ipa files, but iTunes does not show those apps. How do I make iTunes pick it up?
PS. It is really amazing to me that iTunes would behave like this in v8. Apple, WOW... Up until I bought iPhone 3G in August 2008 I was using different versions of WinAmp for ~6 years and not once did I lose my library of songs...Hi, I and most polish users have the same problem. There are plenty of apps I would buy if I could but I need to have that **** credit card. Apple could at least enable paypal payments for foreing users but it looks they don't mind losing money they could get (America is not the only country wehere people have iPhones).
So I guess most iPhone users will continue to hack their phones to be able to install greatly affordable commercial applications instead of buying it. I gess I don't understand Apple anymore. -
I don't know what is going on w/my iTunes. I installed the newest version however, when I go to add songs to my iPod, it says it they cannot syn it because all of the playlists selected for synching no longer exist. All of my playlists are gone and some of the songs I purchased are gone as well. This happens at least a couple times a week. I am by no means that computer savvy and would appreciate any help anyone can give. To recap, here are my problems.
1. My playlists keep disappearing and some of my purchased music is not in my library
2. When the iPod is plugged in, it cannot sync it because all the playlists selected no longer exist. Please help!Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Lost library and only a portion was salvaged - how I get the rest?
I was running Google Earth and iTunes at the same time today and our computer crashed. As a result, we lost our library (we do have it backed onto our iPhone except the album I purchased just before it crashed). I followed the instructions under apple.com/support (users/music/itunes...moving iTunes Music Library.xml on the the desktop, etc. etc.). It only recovered a small portion of our albums. When I go to users/music/itunes, there is a folder that has all our music in it. I tried to bring it in to iTunes and every time I've tried to do that, iTunes crashes. I'm a bit nervous to get the music from our ipod. I disabled the automatic sync on iTunes but when I go to do it manually, it says this phone is recognized by another iTunes application. I hope this all makes sense! Help!

Relax, I am trying to help. You can check the inferiority complex. You would be shocked at the number who never backup anything and then are shocked that there is no way to get the music back.

Lost photos and albums - help please!
Hello
I'm worried that lots of photos in my iPhoto are lost.
I have clicked on some albums and they are empty.
Plus, some other older albums just don't seem to be there.
I just stopped myself importing 3,000 pics (I am not sure how I started importing pics, or where they were coming from!) and am worried that this would be the cause.
I haven't used Time Machine for a while, but could I get my old albums from there?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.

In the future do not select the erase button in iPhoto - in stead select to keep the photos and wait until at ldease one sucessful backup cycle has completed then use hte camera's format command to erase and reformat the SD card

3 -- and launch iPhoto
4 --- rebuild your iPhoto library database

IPhone 5s and iTunes Help Needed - NEW PC
Hi, I got the iPhone 5s back in October (1st ever Apple product) and transfered my music and photos onto it via iTunes.
What I need help with is as my laptop is in for repair (complete system restore) can I download iTunes on mums laptop and put a few songs and pics on my iPhone WITHOUT clearing the curent files and leaving me without nothing on it.

This assumes that everything needed for an iTunes library is on the external hard drive which includes the data base files that contain the info you are concerned about (playlists, counts, ratings, etc.).

N97 wifi and connectivy help needed
Hi everybody: I have for about 3 weeks owned and using an unbranded N97, upgraded it to 11, and for the last 2 years was using an N95 also unbranded, with no issues.(still using it as second line).
The N97 recognizes my Wifis at home, in the office, at the airport , connects perfectly. But never stops looking for that wifi when going to another one.
For example when I leave home to go to office even with priority set, I need to tell it to connect on arrival. .
But then if I click on accuweather update (or for that matter any other stuff) the phone still tries to connect to the previously used wifi, and screams repeatedly disconnect . Dispite what the manual says, the phone does not offer me a "disconnect all"option .
Only solution I have is turn of the phone. Then on, and phone is asking me to chose which connection to use,then I select the one that is available.
Any ideas to have a seamless connection disconnection, including use of gprs when out in the street ?

Go to Solution.When you access "Destinations" on top of the screen should read " Network Destinations Default: Internet" the way to change this is by selecting Options -> Default Connections and selecting Internet.
Once all of this is place make The Internet access point your default.
What's happening here is that the Internet access point encompasses all your registered access points into the one access point therefore enabling the phone to automatically search for available connections and connecting following your priority order.
Set Internet as your deault in your browser, and all other apps that allow you to define an access point, note though that in some apps you will need to select Default Connection
Do this for both WLAN's Destinations -> Internet -> WLAN -> Use Access Point-> Automatically and let the phone scan for WLAN every couple of minutes I've set mine to every 5 minutes as I want it connected to WLAN as soon as it becomes available.
My setup is like this
Destination -> Internet -> @Home priority1 -> @Work priority2 -> Orange Internet priority3 Orange java priority4.
The phone manages to automatically switch from @home to Orange Network when I leave the house and from Orange Network to @work when I get to work and the other way round. Note though that when connection is lost from both WLAN's I get a beep notifying me.
