Lost localhost now all internet access

Hi
Os X 10.6.8 MacMini
Recently I wanted to set up a webserver so I demo'ed Mamp pro, didnt like it so moved onto Xampp and finally decided to use the one built into snow leopard. It works well and i'm pleased with it.But since then, and it may be unrelated, I've had a problem accessing localhost:8080 on Safari. I have a small app running a server on that port and the past year or more I've been able to access the front end of the app by localhost:8080. Now I cannot it gives the cannot find localhost server error. I did lots of surfing to find the answer but never found an answer.
This morning it was still unresponsive on Safari but I tried it on Google Chrome and it worked. I decided that it must be Safari at fault so I opened up timemachine and restored safari from a month ago..typed in localhost:8080 and it worked, I was well happy. But now sad because localhost is the only address that works . I have no internet access, all external address fail with the server not found error. Safari & Chrome the same.
Please help..
If I updated to Lion would that resolve the problem??
Tony

Recheck the policies again you have set...Might be the settings are not correct..Check this link for setting Access Restriction.
Please let us know if you still face any problem and also send the screen-shots for the Access Restriction settings.

  • Windows Server 2003 Stops All Internet Access?

I have two servers in my home network both running Server 2003. Up until tonight when I installed Server 2003 on the second machine I have had no issues.
For some reason, when I start the machine that originally had Server 2003, no machines in the house can access the internet correctly. All pages are slow and some refuse to load all together which made me think that the server was acting as a DNS server and
for some reason the machines where trying to connect to it. However, disabling the DNS Server service has made no difference and not has setting the DNS server on the affected machines to OpenDNS. I am out of things to try. The machine causing problems is
a DC in it's own domain with Active Directory and used to have DNS enabled. The machine I installed Server 2003 on today is also a DC in it's own domain (separate from the other) and has DNS enabled and is set up as a file server. Both machines also allow
    VPN connections.
I am out of things to try and any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE: A fresh install of Windows solved the problem but only for a few hours when it started having the same symptoms.

  • 3GS lost power now no internet

Hi this is the second time this has happened to my 3GS. The battery ran out and after recharging i lost the ability to connect to internet or any data connection without wifi. I had to restore from back up last time.
this is very infuriating as the ability to use the internet was themain reason i bought this phone.
My PC is currently down so cant restore it just yet.
    any other suggestions?
    thanks

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until you see the Apple logo? If you have access to your computer again, try to restore "as new iphone" if the problem still exists after the reset.

  • All internet access,  Call Your PC and Speak from your Cell then Listen

    Hello,
I'm currently working on a project that will offer more options for accessing the internet.
I seek information on Java support for connecting the common laptop computer to a telephone line while at the same time connecting to my web server (via cable or other).
Any ideas or thoughts on this or related technology are welcome.
    Thanks
    CP

From your cell? Is this meant for prisoners to use?
Anyway, I will take a wild guess at what you meant. You want to make a dialup connection to the Internet (via PPP) or you want to use an Ethernet connection. Or you want to use both. Well, Java has nothing to do with that. You already have that built into your operating system. However Java can use those Internet connections if they exist.
Was that your question? Or did you have something else in mind?

  • Possible to disable all internet access on iPhone?

I'd like to get rid of all browsing on my phone. I've disabled Safari and App Store using restrictions. The problem is that there are several downloaded apps I'd like to keep that have built-in browsing. Is there a way I can keep these apps but get rid of their browsing capability?
Simply put, I don't want there to be any way to browse on my phone. How can this be done?
    Thanks!

And switch Settings > General > Cellular > Cellular Data : OFF

  • Lost power, now all my pictures are gone, can I recover?

I was adjusting the monitor and the back plug popped out. When I restarted my desktop picture had changed to a default picture. I went in to fix it and there were no pictures in my picture folder. My picture folder is gone from my finder window. I can find it through various searches but the folder is empty! Im not sure if it has been gone since I upgraded to Yosmite..Is there a way to find where my pictures went or recover?

    How is your backup habits?
Besides TimeMachine, having a 2nd backup either with the system or not, and either including archived changes of files or not, is always wise decision. Drives fail and while it is possible with that iMac it is more trouble.
At first I thought, oh, a power outage and no UPS? but a UPS won't help when the plug comes out.
Trouble is, the system keeps the directory of where files are stored in memory and then flushes those changes out and updates the directory.
I would NOT use or change or touch the drive as it is. So hopefully you do have a bootable backup. Or at least don't use anything more than Recovery Mode. And while there, use RESTORE to copy the system volume and its data to another drive; or, install OS X to another drive - can also work.
Because from there, you can do more repairs and maintenance - one instance where might need to, like Disk Warrior, but also try the v. 4.x demo of Data Rescue 4 to see if those files can be found. you would then use a 2nd partition on that external drive that is empty and recover files to it.
If that does not make sense, try to help make it so. But don't use the drive for now as is. Get the system booting off another drive - or if you have another Mac you can use.

  • Block internet access by MAC address all the time

I want to be able to block MAC addresses from accessing the internet but allow them to use the network.
I can do this in other router interfaces but the BT Home Hub 2.0 has a VERY un user friendly interface and will not allow advanced internet access or other settings to be modifyed to suit my needs.
I am at an intermediate level at understanding network equipment and an expert at residential networking.

Not sure about the home hub 2, but on the home hub 1 you can use a "user defined" firewall setting to block access to a computer by specifying its IP address.
    Source LAN
Interface 192.168.1.xxx  (address you wish to block)
    Destination WAN
    Service ANY
    Action Deny
You can tell the home hub to always use this IP address for the device you are trying to block.
There is probably a similar setting on the home hub 2.
By default I block all Internet access for devices, then I have rules to allow HTTP, HTTPS, POP3 and a couple of others.
    I also have UpnP disabled.
This prevents any computer on the network accessing any non-standard ports.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • Safari still shuts down all internet...

Safari still shuts down all internet access when browsing abcnews.com and cbsnews.com at random times. Mail stops connecting, safari just hangs... Good thing that turning off Airport then back on again trick works everytime. So if anyone is getting this scenario, just quit all internet related apps and quit Airport and turn it back on, it should work again.

I would suggest you to upgrade/reflash the firmware of the router.Reset the router for 45 seconds and reconfigure it from the scratch.Download the firmware from www.linksys.com/downloads,enter the model no in the search box and choose the correct version number...download the firmware and save it on the desktop.Login into the linksys setup page and click on Administration tab to upgrade the firmware.

  • How to block internet access for RDS and RemoteApp users?

    Hi everyone,
This question might partially belong to security forum but I think anyone using RDS services comes across this. I would like to TOTALLY block all internet access including "updates" to any software, windows updates, anti-virus updates, TCP, UDP,
or ANY other protocol out of the server. I would like to only allow traffic both ways for established traffic (e.g. accessing the remote apps).
How can I achieve this without involving a third party firewall software?
    Thanks

In our visitor center, we setup a computer with fake proxy server and add our website to the exception so that the visitors access our website only and no other website. If this RDS is for internal use only, you may disable default gateway. This link may

    Restopre from backup
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Also,
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

Migrating Presets does not require a network connection and you can still migrate your cc presets if you still have CC installed.  Use Photoshop menu Edit>Presets>Migrate Presets...  Migrating presets only migrates presets.  It does not migrate Plugins, settings, extensions and scripts.  CC 2014 is also not completely backwards compatible with CC.  Support for Flash Panels and Oil Painter filter have been removed.  So extensions like mini bridge no longer work in CC 2014

  • HT1222 I just installed this update and now I cannot access "Mail" at all.  I tried reinstalling the program, but that does not work, either.  Help!!!!!!

I just installed this update and now I cannot access "Mail" at all.  I tried reinstalling the program, but that does not work, either.  Help!

Paldeng, thanks for the suggestion.  I've done all that.  I can connect to the server, but apparently they are not recognizing my ID and password.  I can use the server program if I don't go through Mail (using the same ID and password).  My mother in another state with another provider has had the same email issue, as also my husband on his laptop who uses the same internet connection I do.  His worked fine until we had it repaired at the Apple store and all the original programs reloaded (with the required updates, I assume).  We can receive email in Mail, we just cannot send.
I contacted my service provider, and we went over my connections.  They said it was not their problem and connected me with Apple, resulting in a charge to me because my warranty is long expired.  Apple swears it is not their problem, it is the provider, so here I sit.  My son was able to fix my Mom's Mail (she's 97) and got my husband's working also, until mine went out, by tweaking connection descriptions and ports remotely.  The thing is, we had not messed with any of those settings, so what changed?  I just did not want to bother my son again, as he has many other demands on his time.
Since this fiasco with the Mail v4.6 update, I'm wondering if something else was updated that works well with Lion and Mountain Lion, but does not work well with Snow Leopard and Leopard.  I think the problem I had with the Mail update was that my Mail program had been renamed to Mail (original), and therefore was not being recognized by the update.  Perhaps they had another tweak in there somewhere that is affecting outgoing mail connections?

  • Lost internet access after 10.10.2 update

Since the OSX 10.10.2 update my iMac (late 2008) can't access the internet anymore.
    This is what happend:
Due to the incorrect installation of the OSX 10.10.2 update I had to reinstall OSX from the recovery disk. The installation went smoothly and OSX 10.10.2 is now installed.
    The Problem:
The system can't connect to the internet anymore. From my Wi-Fi router (Fritzbox) the iMac gets an IP address and it is also possible to access the routers GUI via web browser by entering the router IP. If i enter a www. address in my web browser (Firefox) i'm getting the message "no internet access". The same thing happens with other browsers or programs which want access on the Internet. But My MacBook and Windows PC can easily access on the internet, so i can exclude a problem with the router or modem.
Here's what I've tried, without success:
    - Disabled OSX firewall
    - Little Snitch deactivated
    - Disabled Avira Antivirus
    - Enter the IP address instead of www in your web browser
    - Hosts file in /private/etc deleted
    - Restarted the router, modem and iMac
    - Go through OSX Network Diagnostics
    - Reinstalled OSX 10.10.2 i
    - Little Snitch completely uninstalled
    - Connected the iMac directly to the router via LAN cable
    - Various alternative DNS server (Google, openDNS)
    - The DNS cache emptied via terminal command
    - deleted all preference files in Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration containing "wifi", "network", "nat", "preferences" and "airport"
All of these things didn't help at all and no web browser or other program is able to access the internet. Any ideas what to do further?
