Lost long time connection to HP photosmart 2600

I have been using an HP Photosmart 2600 all in one with my airport for 3 years with out a problem. Since the last security update and update of my airport software I have not been able to reestablish a connection between printer and airport. I have the latest software. Have tried every trick and tip on this site. HP wanted 65 dollars to chat with me and suggested I buy a new HP printer. The thing is, this set up has worked fine for years. Any ideas. My printer in not listed as one on the HP printer options but it used to be there under other. I cannot figure how to get it back. Printing via usb is fine and airport is fine. I have been patient and worked on this for 2 weeks before posting. Any thoughts?

I could not add my hp laserjet 2600dtn because the default automatic set up could not find the configuration. It would just spin trying to add the printer, but not ever actually do anything. I hit on the manual set up and then selected any additional features for my printer. Then hit the add printer. Other suggestions, since I do not know what you have already tried are; 1. select a generic IP configuration? 2. go to cups.org find the driver for your printer and add it to your list of printer drivers. Then repeat the system preference printer set up. I was able to add an old scanner using this method. Hope this helps, as it is frustrating to have a perfectly good printer not work with your set up. I have found over the years that HP does not always play nice whether it is Microsoft or Apple. My next printer will most likely be another brand.

  • Long time connecting to server

Hello, recently installing snow leo & have some network problem.
    MacPro 4.1 / 10.6.2
I setup network & everything is work good, internet speed is ok - but when i try to connect to server near me (in my local subnet) it takes really long time before login window comes up. Already tried change network interface order - did not work for me. BTW - when i try reach my local server i use comm + K, then IP address (no DNS) - so I think it cant be DNS problem. Also I disable IP6. It seams problem in my system or just miss-configuration something
ping to this server works fast, traceroute -n - fast too, but without "-n" - takes long time (about 10 sec)
    Any suggestion ?

    Hello, thanks for answering
    there is my simple cfg
    macpro has 192.168.19.2/28
    stockserver 192.168.19.3/28
I added to /etc/hosts the following
    192.168.19.2 lacalhost
    192.168.19.3 stockserver
when I did it - everything works fine & fast, but I can not add every computer to hosts, course some times I bring some new & it takes IP from DHCP, I think it is clear.
And about your last question -
It takes about 25 sec from i hit enter until it takes back to the shell prompt.
but when it done it display that traceroute done for less 1 sec!
Because traceroute is diagnostic tool, usually people don't use it to really work, the same delay happen when I try to connect to file share. It does not matter afp / smb / nfs / even ftp.
When first time I looked this I was try trace route for diagnostic porpoise - it delayed too.
So - now it is clear that it is dns/netbios/dejavue problem - but how I can fix it?!
    I have not any Idea.
Some Addition - I thougt when I try reach anything by IP it makes reverse lookup
Because I use ISP DNS there are not records to my local subnet
    lacalhost:~ alexpronin$ nslookup 192.168.19.3
    Server: 77.50.0.3
    Address: 77.50.0.3#53
    ** server can't find 3.19.168.192.in-addr.arpa: REFUSED
    lacalhost:~ alexpronin$
    but answer become imidetely !
it seems system try get answer some other way

  • Ipod dissapearing from itunes after long time connected?

I am not sure on the time it takes.. or if there is a set time... but my ipod dissappears from my Itunes list (i have to unplug/replug to get it to resynch)
Its still seen in windows as connected via USB.
Its the latest 7.0.70 itunes and 1.2 for my 5th gen gen 1 ipod

Just a quick update. (and possible quick fix) I checked "enable disk use" on both of my ipods. I then enjected my nano and hooked it back up and my 5.5G iPod did remain on the source list as did the Nano. I suspect if I did the same thing but only ejecting the 5.5G iPod that the Nano would also remain connected. I just did this, so I don't know if this quick fix will help keep your iPod connected to the source list or not. I'll post back later if one of my iPods drops off the source list again. I have a sneaky suspician disk use won't allow the iPod to drop off the source list.

  • Long time connecting to the USB modem

    Hello.
I have nokia 6220 classic and I'm using it as a 3G modem. Everything works fine, but when I'm connecting it it takes about 60 (!) seconds to detect modem by NetworkManager and be able to estabilish connection. A little bit of research showed that the main problem is that two times during modem recognition procedure serial port is being closed, which takes 30 seconds each:

How can I improve speed of modem detection?

    ** server can't find 3.19.168.192.in-addr.arpa: REFUSED
    lacalhost:~ alexpronin$
    but answer become imidetely !
it seems system try get answer some other way
    PS
sorry my poor english, it is not my native language

  • Sqlplus takes long time to connect

    Hi All,
I am using database 11.2 on Linux x86-64 platform.
Using SQLPLUS (bequeath) to connect to the database as a particular user it takes a long time to connect and connecting to the database as any other user is instantaneous.
If I use TNS names and remotely connect to the database as the same user, it fails with following error
    ERROR:
    ORA-03135: connection lost contact

Again I can use TNS names to connect to the database as any other user.

  • Web pages taking a very long time to load; nothing wrong with my internet connection.

I've contacted my ISP and they've told me there is nothing wrong on their end and that my modem is running perfectly. I've done a speed test and my upload is 33mbps+ and download is 5.5mbps+.
The problem is, it takes webpages a very long time to load. Sometimes longer than others, but sometimes it's so long I give up. There doesn't seem to be a difference between when I type in a URL or an IP address directly into the address bar.
One night last week I completely lost the ability to connect to any webpages, and then when I woke up in the morning I was having these problems with connection speed, and the problem has persisted for several days.

    Hello Billyeee,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro.  I would be concerned about this too.
I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Symptom: The Wi-Fi network seems slow" in the following article to resolve an issue like the one you described:

  • Exchange 2013 mailbox takes a long time to connect with Outlook 2010

We just installed a 2013 CAS/Mailbox server in our Exchange 2007 environment and are running in coexistence while we migrate users over. So far I have only moved one 2007 mailbox over, a new account used for testing. Everything is working fine, OWA,
ECP, ActiveSync, etc... When connecting Outlook to a 2007 mailbox autodiscover takes a couple seconds and Outlook opens fine. The problem is when connecting Outlook to a mailbox on the 2013 server. Autodiscover takes about a minute before it finally finds
the settings and the mailbox takes about 30 seconds to open everytime. It generally times out, I click retry and the mailbox opens. Once in everything is good but the initial loading always takes a long time, double the time when opening Outlook with a shared
mailbox attached. All autodiscover is autodiscover.domain.com, Exchange 2007 is all legacymail.domain.com aside from the components that need to point to 2013. We do not have any certificate issues, well that's not true, at some time in the last couple years
someone applied a 3rd party cert to our domain.com root but not sure if that would cause this issue. Also, these are internal clients we are trying to get going with the 2013 mailbox, not external. I just applied a registry change that helped someone else
out there by disabling IPv6 for all components but that did not work for us MS KB929852. Any suggestions? Right now I am thinking of changing the internalURI for autodiscover to the FQDN of the server but wanted to see if anyone had any ideas.
    Jeremy

Hi Angela, thanks for the response. I cannot post links or pictures as my account has not been verified?
The autoconfiguration tests passed, I will paste the xml below. Ping times were all under 1ms. When I entered the IP for the 2013 serve I received errors that the connection to Exchange is unavailable followed by another one that the name cannot be resolved.
I did this test by removing the Outlook profile and creating one manually without Autodiscover. I am able to ping the server by all names from the command prompt.
Our autodiscover.domain.com points to our 2013 server and the name is resolvable both internally and externally. Our certificates cover the internal server name fqdn as well as external names. I am doing all testing in the internal network.

  • Sometimes my computer takes too long to connect to new website. I am running a pretty powerful work program at same time, what is the best solution? Upgrading speed from cable network, is it a hard drive issue? do I need to "clean out" the computer?

Many times my computer takes too long to connect to new website. I have wireless internet (time capsule) and I am running a pretty powerful real time financial work program at same time, what is the best solution? Upgrading speed from cable network? is it a hard drive issue? do I only need to "clean out" the computer? Or all of the above...not to computer saavy.  It is a Macbook Pro  osx 10.6.8 (late 2010).

Almost certainly none of the above!  Try each of the following in this order:
Select 'Reset Safari' from the Safari menu.
Close down Safari;  move <home>/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db to the trash; restart Safari.
Change the DNS servers in your network settings to use the OpenDNS servers: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
Turn off DNS pre-fetching by entering the following command in Terminal and restarting Safari:
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false

  • Takes a long time to connect to the internet when I first open an app

I bought my Macbook Pro Retina 13inch last weekend and I love it! Everything was working fine but over the last couple of days, when I first open an app, for example Safari, Google Chrome, iTunes, App Store, anything that requires an internet connection, it takes a long time to load up that first time, but after the first page has been loaded it works again fine until closing the app and re-opening it. When loading the App Store or iTunes it has even said an internet connection is required, even though my connection is fine and the other apps are still loading ok.
I first thought it was my WIFI connection but I have checked my router and everything seems fine, also my iPad and iPhone are still working fine with the internet.
Has anyone else had the same problem or can offer me a solution?

I am getting the same issue, on first starting safari the first page takes an age to load.. once it has everything is fine.
I have tried the 'Reset Safari' function but no difference. This only happens on my Macbook Pro Retina, Using safari on my iphone or ipad is fine. (I connect via ethernet too so its not a wifi problem.)
Any one got an answer to this yet?

  • MacBook Pro takes long time to connect

I know there are lots of threads about MBk Pro Airport connection probs so apologies for starting another
I’m using a MBook Pro 2.2Ghz running 10.4.11 together with an Airport Extreme (11n) base station. I have only recently switched to the ‘n’ version from the previous 11g which gave a host of problems with disconnects and so on.
Even though signal strength is good, when using 11n, the MBk takes a long time (up to a minute or so) to find and establish the connection, even though this is the only network in the house.
I have a feeling that some of the mods I did as per other threads to get a connection using the 11g may not have been fully reinstated to the current defaults. At present I have the following in system/library/extensions:
    AppleAirPort.kext v 3.4.9
    AppleAirPort2.kext v 4.0.5
    IO80211Family.kext v 1.6.2
I have a feeling I should also have AppleAirPortEnabler.kext (version?).
Could someone confirm the above are the current default up to date versions as at 10.4.11, and also whether I should have the AppleAirPortEnabler.kext installed as well.
I know I should have the originals - I did but they have gone missing. Probably buried in the drive somewhere, neither I nor Spotlight can find them.
    Thanks for any help.
Happy New Year to all on these boards from a rather dull UK Midlands.

Given your connection will eventually come good you'll probably find that your problem lies with your DHCP server and your MBP's inability to quickly get a new address. Check the DHCP's server admin that it has a decently large enough address pool as having too small a pool can often cause these issues. I normally recommend having a pool around 50% more than the number of computers that it serves else a minimum of 5.

  • SAP B1 8.8 client taking long time to connect

    Dear all,
We have recently upgraded from SAP B1 2007B to SAP B1 8.8 PL8. SP B1 Client connects very well on server but when trying to connect from client machine it takes more than 10 minutes to connect. We have disabled firewall on server as well as all client machines. We have 3 clients each having OS Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
Kindly assist with the same asap.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Database Connectivity takes long time if one of the Node is down .. ??

    Hello All,
    Env: 10.2.0.4 on Solaris 10
    I have 2 nodes.
When Node1 server is down, it takes long time to connec to the database.
tnsping would give "OK(2050ms)". Below is the tnsalias.
    RAC_test  =
      (DESCRIPTION =
         (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=20.268.169.123)(PORT= 1521))
         (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST=20.268.169.127)(PORT= 1521))
         (LOAD_BALANCE = yes)
              (CONNECT_DATA =
            (SERVICE_NAME = DK.com)
          (FAILOVER_MODE =
            (TYPE = SELECT)
            (METHOD = BASIC)
            (RETRIES = 180)
            (DELAY = 5)
)I put the trace on sqlnet.ora and found that first it pings to the "20.268.169.123",
since the Server is down there will not be any reply and this consumes the delay and
later it would ping "20.268.169.127" and connect to it.
If i keep "20.268.169.127" above "20.268.169.123" in tnsalias, and keep "LOAD_BALANCE=no",
it gets connected very fast, as its directly connecting to Node2. In tnsping i get Ok(40ms).
How do i reduce the connect timing if i use the first step. Why does it take long time for
Oracle Client to understand that the Node1 Server is down ?
    TIA,
    J J

I hope the IP's you are using in the TNS are Virtual IP's.
You must use Virtual IP's / hostnames for the failover to be quick. If Node 1 is not available then then it's (Node 1's) virtual IP would also get assigned to Node 2 hence all client connections are still able to get a response from the Node Virtual IP address without needing to wait for TCP/IP timeouts. This helps clients to get notified immediately that node 1 is unavailable and the connection tries the 2nd ip/host in the connect descriptor.
    Hope this helps.

  • Because of a POLL() Timeout, Listener Connection to a DB Takes Long Time!

Envionment: OS: OEL5.3 (2.6.18-128.el5Xen) x86-64bit RDBMS: 11.1.0.7 (in an OVM setup)
    The Problem:
It takes more than 10 seconds to get connected to the 11.1.0.7 database using SQL*Net with dedicated servers.
    Points to consider:
    0. I posted this in DB (Net) forum as well.
    1. Direct local connection has no such issue.
    2. Connection to a 10.2.0.4 database on the same server is no problem either (direct as well as through SQL*Net)
    3. Only dedicated connection takes such a long time. With shared servers, the connection is quick again.
    4. Using prespawned servers does not help.
    5. Connection is quick with another 11.1.0.7 on the same network (another guest on the same OVM server, but it is 32-bit: OEL4.3 / 2.6.9-55.0.12.9.1 ELxenU)
When I ran strace on the client as well as on listener (using: strace -T -tt -ff -o <outputfile> -p <pid>), the client process took the longest time waiting for a read() call to finish (about 10 seconds), and by looking at the entries with the same timestamp from the listener side straces, I found the following entries from the shadow process:
    11:41:01.095138 poll({fd=10, events=POLLIN}, 1, 4769) = 0 (Timeout) <4.768228>
    11:41:06.086246 poll({fd=10, events=POLLIN}, 1, 4777) = 0 (Timeout) <4.777516>
As we can see, these timeouts together account for more than 9.5 seconds out of 10.x seconds total elapsed time.
Any clue why this happens (and why not in other cases listed above)? More important, how to get this resolved? __If decreasing the timeout value for the POLL call could be a workaround, how can I achieve that in OEL5.3?_
Appreciate all your help and suggestions.
    Thanks and regards,
    Govardhanan.

I've updated my profile to show my email address, so go ahead and email me the strace output (compressed please). Maximum attachment size for emails to Oracle is 10MB (encoded), so split the strace output in 5MB chunks if necessary.
poll() is not normally used by the Oracle network layer for client-server connections. So this may be related to an OS network service, such as DNS or NIS. The strace should make this clear (to me anyway).
