Lost Mail Boxes and Smart Boxes

Hi can anyone give me some advice please as I have had to reinstall and have lost all of my smart boxes and some mail boxes which had valuable information.

No, you are not doing anything wrong. The original e-mail stays in your inbox until deleted, which will also delete it from the Smart Folder. The Smart Mailbox is a 'sorting' tool,but it doesn't actual contain the e-mails.

Deleted messages from in box and sent box do not appear in trash

For years deleted messages from my in box and sent box appeared in the trash where I would hold them for a week or two just in case I had to retrieve a message I had deleted. About 6 months ago deleted messages stopped showing up in the trash. What do I do to get deleted messages to once again appear in the trash? I'm no computer geek... please be gentle with any suggestions. Thank You.

While trying to find a solution, I am discovering my mail problem is much deeper than just messages not appearing in the "Sent" mailbox. I have found some of them appearing in the "Trash" mailbox and some appearing there mulitple times, often with my account name in the "TO" field. I'm also finding some unread mail there that should be in the "Junk" mailbox. So it would appear there are many problems with ISO 7 and mail. I have tried deleting and restablishing the account and two complete iPhone restores. Neither helped. What is the biggest puzzle is that on my second iPhone, the one that upgraded without an error, mail is working perfectly well. Has anyone found a solution to any mail problems on ISO 7 devices? If so, please reply.

Creating List box and check box in structure

Hi
I have to include List box(Drop down) of lenght 20 and check box in a screen area.
The fields on screen are to be transported from structure CI_PROJ in table PROJ.
How can i Include List box and check box in my structure CI_PROJ.
Also wat data type is required

For the list box if you have the data element along with the search help then you can use that dataelement. If you dont have search help at dataelement level then for the structure you have to assign a search help directly. If you dont have data element it self then domain's fixed values will be shown in the drop down. For the check box you have to use a data element with a domain having CHAR and length 1.
For the list box you will KEY and VALUES. Key is the one that is transfered to your program data and VALUE is the one that is shown to the user. You have to use the data element of your KEY for the list box.

Removing Music Box and Video Box Queue from Safari Window tab

Hi,
I had earlier installed two applications : Music Box and Video Box.
Since I don't use them often I removed them from my Macbook.
But after removing these applications, I noticed two of these Annoying options
on Safari > Window tab (toolbar).
Any ideas of removing them ? Altough they don't affect my system; it really isn't nice to see them
there as the applications itself is gone.

Did those applications come with an uninstaller? If so, did you use it to uninstall the apps?
If you did, please let the developer know that their uninstaller didn't work.
If they didn't provide an uninstaller, send a nasty-gram asking them to please do in the future.
I'm not familiar with those programs and don't know where something might install in order to alter the app like that except the Safari Extensions which you can access from the Safari Preferences.

Mail in both smart box and inbox

I have made a bunch of smart boxes, and the mail still shows up in the inbox. I hate that. I want to look in the inbox and see what is left, after everything else has been put in the smartboxes. I am trying to unsubscribe to a bunch of mail, and I just want to see what I have not decided to keep, via a smart box. Any suggestions?

Upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8 and lost mail in several Smart Mailboxes

I upgraded from 10.4.11 to 10.5.8. Several of my Smart Mail Boxes lost all email content but others remained in tact. Now the ones that lost content don't accept emails that meet the criteria for the Smart Box.
Anyone have that experience? Any ideas on recapturing? I didn't back up my mail prior to upgrade.

Smart Mailboxes are only virtual mailboxes, and contain nothing -- they are the product of a search list, and messages must stay in their original mailboxes. All the messages will still in the originating mailboxes, unless something else you did impacted those actual mailboxes, so you should be able to rewrite the definitions for these Smart Mailboxes.

Email set up - Sent box and smart mailboxes

Hi. I am new to mac and mavericks. I have migrated my various email accounts successfully BUT have a problem in that each email account does not have its own inbox and sent mail. Yes, I know I can pick up the separate accounts under Inbox - although it is a very cumbersome way to do it.
BUT all the sent mail is in one box. This is VERY frustrating as I have my personal emails and emails for two companies all in the same sent box.
This is a logistical nightmare. Furthermore, sent replies do not figure in the conversation thread until the recipient replies ... this is a real problem if the recipient does not reply.
I thought I might be able to circumnavigate this issue by setting up smart mailboxes but when I set up a new smart box I cannot then access the access the 'edit' or change criteria as they are greyed out.
Can anyone help? Make suggestions? HELP!!!

Thanks for your response - i am about 12 hrs ahead of you hence delayed reply.
1) I had the sent mailbox settings to date rather than mailboxes. Have changed that so at least the 'sents' are now in their correct mailboxes.- I hope.
2) smart mailbox - i had set up one account, it had a gear next to it but remained greyed out when selected (in fact it keeps coming up in the rename mode), which of course is why the 'edit' did not function. i have deleted it. I do not know why it remained greyed out.
Am I doing something crass?
3) all my other mailboxes are gmail, and no sign of a 'sent' within them. I have them on my iPad as well and they function perfectly there. Sadly iPad is not functional for business purposes except in emergency when it is a real saver...just not suitable for other documents.
In gmail (old style) I have a number of folders and moving emails into folders was no problem. It would be so good to be able to deal with just one mailbox at a time! I will eventually adapt to the mac system I guess. At the moment I seem to be spending more time frigging around than doing actual work!

Mail Inbox and Sent box disappeared

The Inbox and Sent boxes appear empty and do not respond. Trying to move messages from other boxes to the Inbox results in a message saying the box does not exist.
Not able to send or receive mail to the computer. MobileMe works.
Have recovered the last inbox, but cannot move the recovered msgs to the Inbox.
Cannot rebuild the Inbox as that item in the menu is grayed out.
Reindexing the boxes does not solve the issue.
Questions: Is there a fix within the current configuration that does not lose the contents of either box? Would downloading a new Mail app fix the problem and recognize the old mailboxes? If I have to install a new Mail app, where do I get it?

Setting up the same account twice in Mail is probably what got you into trouble. I suspect Mail simply removed all mailboxes associated with that account without checking to see whether they belonged to the original or the dupe.
Do the disappeared messages from my Inbox, and their attachments, all exist somewhere on my Mac even though I can't see them (I have searched the Library)?
Very unlikely. Try looking in the ~/Library/Mail/ folder (where '~' means "your user folder). See if there are any mailboxes still there that might be appropriate, and try duplicating them to the desktop and then import them into a new mailbox. That's unlikely to work, but you never know.
Is there any utility out there that might help me to find them?
If they're really gone, no. If you have backups, you can restore them from the backup, of course. But without backups, the best you'll be able to do is try a data recovery tool, which is unlikely to give very good results in this case, but would be worth a try if there's no other option.
And what happens to attachments in Mail nowadays, when there seems to be no separate Attachments folder?
Attachments are stored with the message, just like they are sent across the internet as part of the message. They are not automatically decoded and saved as individual files somewhere. That happens when you either open them or tell Mail to save them somewhere.

My live mail junk and deleted boxes have an x in them and i cannot find my deleted files .

On your iMac launch iTunes and at the top next to the Apple symbol click iTunes > Preferences > Devices and tell me what you see. You last sync should be there showing only a device name. If you have an older backup it will be there as well the difference is it will be the device name with a date and time stamp. Sync and backups are two different things and there is a chance iTunes made a backup the first time you hooked up your iPhone 5.

Lost mail body and marked messages - Maverick Upgrade

I lost some message body (they are listed but have no content) and 15 out of 16 messages marked with a flag where not in the Marked Message Folder. That happened after upgrading to Maverick. I tried to replace only the Mail folder in the libraray with the old one from Time Capsule. Didn't work. Had to reinstall whole system.

i had lost mail body, this is how i fixed it:
hold option, click GO in the top bar (where the apple icon lives), go to library > Mail > V2
now here's where things may differ slightly, i lost the body of mails i had moved to my computer (on my mac), plus i'm using Gmail accounts, that being said, inside the mailboxes folder is where the local folders are and Mail decided to create duplicate folders of some of them so i had
Clients.mbox (with some emails)
Clients-2.mbox (with the missing ones)
i then moved the Clients-2.mbox to the desktop, went File > Import (in Mail) then selected Apple mail as the import type, selected the mbox folder on the desktop and imported them into mail at which stage i just moved them back in to the clients folder where they belong.
i still have an issue where the reply arrow (next to email subjects of replied emails) is linking to completely irrelevant emails, that is not good. unless apple fixes it asap i would recommend moving to another email program as the Mail dev team has not only dropped the ball but stabbed it repeatedly with a blunt rusty object.

Mail: search and smart mailboxes stopped working

Hi folks,
In mail the search and smart mailboxes have stopped working. I have a hunch it's something to do with iCloud as my partner is now logged onto iCloud using iTunes etc. Can you help?

My accounts are POP. But I have managed to fix the problem. When you mentioned Spotlight, I went into System Preferences thinking I may had accidentally turn off emails as a search option in Spotlight. It was on, but I turned it OFF and then ON again, and now search works in mail as usual. And my Smart Mailboxes too.

Combo box and Check box..help with code please?

Here is my problem...i have a list of check boxes and according to which one is checked, i need combo boxes to populate different choices.
as an easy example im only using 2 check boxes and two combo boxes.
the check boxes are named Choice 1or2 with export values of 1 and 2
the Combo Boxes are named List A and List B..
both containing options that say you checked box 1 and you checked box 2
any help would be greatly appreciated

Double Boxes and OTS Boxes

Is it possible to do a double box effect or an over the shoulder box effect like you see in newscasts? I know normally this is done live usually but I was curious if this is possible in post

Of course it's possible. And I suppose you expect me to tell you how, rather than reading the manual.
It is as simple as putting another video layer in your timeline, adding the footage you want in the box and then scaling and positioning it. Put a border around it.
It's all in the manuals in excruciating detail.
Hint: after adding the video to layer two, double click it to open in the viewer, open the motion tab, and have at it.
