Lost Mail Boxes with Mountain Lion up grade

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion 10.8 and I've lost all my mailboxes of stuff that was I wanted to keep. Various e-mails over the course of a few years.    How can I retrieve these back. I backed up the Mac prior tp the upgrade.  What file should I be looking for.  Thanks.  Now using Apple 6.0 mail. Very learing of upgrading my 2nd Mac.

On the left hand side of the mail window where you see inbox sent trash etc. there should be something that says on my mac, hover your cursor over that until "show" appears next to it, click show. Are your messages there?

  • Mail.app with mountain lion

Is somebody else having trouble with mail.app with mountain lion? I upgraded today and I got the Message:
"Mail Stores Information in /mypathformail/  If this folder is in your computer, use the Get Info window and change permissions for folder to Read&Write"
I already checked and it is like that.
    Ideas?
    TIA

I know about the "get mail" button. This is what I am getting (the [!] icons next to each of the mailboxes)

  • Mail crashes with Mountain Lion

Everytime I go to launch Mail it crashes with the following error
Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

This is really bad because I have discovered that iCloud does not have a number of folders that were supposedly on iCloud according to Mail and of course anything that was stored On My Mac is not there either.  I am presently using Postbox which is fine but not optimal since I use Mail otherwise.
I tried restoring Mail from Time Machine and that did not work, and all of the repair database instructions I can find are either out of date or require that Mail actually be running to work.  The problem is unique to my Mac Pro, my other Macs work fine.
The Mac Pro is my primary machine.  Is there a way to restore an old mail database and force it to rebuild?
Do I need to reinstall Mountain Lion?
    Need some guidance friends.

Miraculously, the post below about Lion works for Mountain Lion as well.

macmrjohn   Re: Mail 5 (OSX Lion) does not work after mailbox migration     Dec 15, 2011 1:43 PM    (in response to Alejandro M. Ramallo)  This same thing happened today when migrating a friend's laptop. THE SOLUTION: Inside the Library folder (Lion hides this folder now, so hold down the option key and use the Go menu in the finder — Library will appear in the menu. Go there.) you'll find the Mail folder. Inside the mail folder was another folder called V2. I simply took the contents of V2 and dragged them to the parent folder (Mail). When I launched mail again, everything was back to normal. As Apple says, "It's that simple!"

  • Mail problem with mountain lion

This morning my Virtual Machine stopped working while I was trying to open Quicken on the PC side. After this happened, my Mail application has put all of my email accounts on an "offline" status and cannot bring them back. Mail is also starting to have issues as it is only reading mail from 2 weeks ago, even though I have had emails coming in every day. What should I do?

You can exit Full-screen View by tapping Escape on the keyboard or hovering the mouse in the top right corner of the screen and then clicking the arrow icon.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Does anyone have an email client that is working with Mountain Lion? I'm giving up on Mail after installing Mountain Lion

    Hi
I give up.  I just cannot see my exchange inbox in Mail after installing Mountain Lion.  My mail is not being deleted.  Its still in my inbox I just can't see it. I've tried everything suggested on the forums and nothing is working for me.
My productivity has completely stalled and I really need to move to an email client that is going to work seamlessly with Mountain Lion.
    Any recommendations?

I have the same problem. Upgraded to ML, and my Mac Mail suddenly can't communicate with Gmail's SMTP server.
I have been having the SAME problem with ALL my Gmail accounts with Mail.app - It is very annoying, especially when you have clients and other important email to respond to.  So you're definitely NOT alone in this department.
Might have to go back to Thunderbird or something until this gets fixed, which is going to really suck because I have 5000+ emails along with all my Email Folders in Mail not too mention the Rules I have had setup for years!
AND with the RSS Feeds NOT working in BOTH Mail and Safari!  That was a HUGE MISTAKE and defintely a STEP BACKWARDS on whoever's idea that was for sure!

  • Comcast Issues with Mountain Lion Mail Client (v.6)

I am having same issues receiving my e mail in Mail in my comcast account.  I did have google but deleted the e mail and even my entire google account to hopefully resolve problem.  Problem remains.  I have tried so many things and am waiting to hear from a tech.  Was on phone with Apple for hours on Sat. morning but no resolution yet.  I am wondering if it is an i cloud issue.

    Hi,
This thread was created by someone who had issues with their Google Mail not being fetched by the Mail app in Mountain Lion.
Their presumption was that it was the Mail App.
It turns out Google have had a problem and it not only effects Macs using Mountain Lion.
This Google Issue should in no way effect the fetching or sending of Mail via your ISP (Comcast) Login.
I don't see any info in your post that links your Comcast account to iCloud so it is difficult to follow your reasoning that iCloud is involved.
This means you have a different issue to the Original Poster.
Unfortunately it is not likely to get addressed here  (Broadly speaking the presumption is that a different question should have it's own thread)
It can be difficult to judge sometimes if you have a different issue or not.
I would suggest starting your own thread.

  • NHS mail with Mountain Lion

Anyone having problems with their NHS-mail using Mountain Lion (e.g. 10.8.4)?
Upon creating my NHS account on Mac-mail I have encountered repeated problems.
The mails disappear at random times or each time I reboot my Macbook Air. At random times, the mails begin to reload and then disappear again.
This did not happen with my previous Macbook Air, which had Snow Leopard, and it does not occur with my other email accounts with Mountain Lion.
I called Mac Support who suggested I remove the NHS-mail account from the Mac-mail and then recreat it, but this has not resolved the problem.
    Can anyone assist, please?

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4363  - this is all I can suggest.
If they can't give you enough help, http://www.mail2web.com/ or http://www.altomail.com/ might work better at accessing it via web browser.   Microsoft Outlook for the Mac also has good Exchange support, but you have to buy the full Microsoft Office 2011 suite for the Mac.    Older versions may work as well, under Entourage.  Storing mail on your computer though can lead to significant data corruption of e-mail if you have large e-mail storage of over 4 GB.

    I have 2 x imac's and 2 x macbook air's
i upgraded the 2 macbook air's and 1 of the imac's to Mountain Lion, all these have problems acessing sites that require you to login .
the one remaining imac is still running lion and works perfect.
i am using a dlink router with DD-WRT firmware, i tested teathering from my iphone and i can log into websites fine using the newly upgraded mac's.
It's not a wireless issue as my imac is using an ethernet connection.

I have a Mac with Mountain Lion 10.7.5 but still have Iphoto 08 how do i upgrade to a later version ?

    10.7.5 is OS X Lion.
The iPhoto version available in the Mac App Store is only compatible with OS X Mavericks, that you can download from the Mac App Store. If you want to upgrade, first make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com After upgrading, purchase iPhoto from the Mac App Store and use iPhoto Library Upgrader.
If you do not want to upgrade, buy iLife '11 in a DVD at Amazon, and install it. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest iLife version, including iPhoto
