i'm afraid the only way you can regain access to a memory card that you forgot the password to is to format it.
just an update:
i found this useful post by Adamf , it might help you find your password without formatting it:

  • Nokia 5300 - Hard reset?

    Hi all,
I've got a problem with my Nokia 5300 XpressMusic (S40 phone). While searching for a good synchronisation tool (the Nokia Sync isn't really my piece of cake), one of those third-party tools I tried has been able to mess up my phone. The OS and all is still working, only the screen gets frozen during start-up (so I can still do everything, but without visual).
I have had this problem already some weeks ago, but I didn't suspected that tool then. That time, I've sent my phone to Nokia, and they managed to repair it (re-flashing or really resetting it, I guess).
But this time I'm trying to reset my mobile my self (as it takes some weeks sending it to Nokia and repairing it), but I can't seem to find the correct code... I have already tried *#7870#, which does work, but doesn't reset enough to get my phone working again. I tried starting up while holding "green phone" + "*" + "3", which seems to reset something too, but again not enough.
So, if anybody got some other resetting codes, or any other method to reset my mobile (e.g. by remote USB application, I tried OS upgrade, but it hangs at 25%), I'd greatly appreciate that
    Thanks in advance,
    maleadt

i have a problem i forgot my password to my restore thats why im not restore my nokia 5300 what i should do?

  • Nokia 5300 & Yahoo

    Hello there,
Does anybody know if the Yahoo offers on the Nokia 5300 are still supported ?
During last firmware update (4.70) I lost the ability to run Yahoo GO.
Today I (unfortunatly) upgrade to firmware 5.0 and now I lost the ability to connect to Yahoo Messenger (Chat) !!??
    Any infos or explanations ?
By the way I really think it's great to see how well Nokia is reporting errors.
And I wanted to congratulate them on this point.
You certainly feel better when your Chat connection fails and you read 'Connection failed' !!??
It's probably very difficult to write 'Connection failed. Unable to open network connection' or something else more accurate. This way end users would know if they need to contact their network service provider or Nokia.

Ensure that you still have a default access point (APN_ setup for your network. It could be that it got removed when you upgraded the firmware. If you are unsure about this please ask and I will help.

  • Reboot of Nokia 5300 when syncrhonzing ? :(

I just bought a Nokia 5300 and I am not able to sync with my PC through the PC suite, version 6.82. I also tried the older version that comes with the CD, version 6.81, but it gives me exactly the same problem.
The problem below occurs both with the usb cable and the bluetooth connection.
I have windows xp with all the latest patches and service packs installed. I have 519 phone numbers that I syncrhonize and after phone number 229, the nokia 5300 is simple rebooted, I get a white screens, and it restarts ... and ofcourse then PC suite reporst an error, saying that the connection is lost.
I spend many days trying to solve this: make sure it's not in standby mode, that it has enough memory, touching the keyboard while synchronizing, so it not get in standby.... turn off the keyguard, bluetooth, cable, etc... everytime exactly the same error.
BTW: If I synchronise the second time, such that I already have 229 contacts in my phone, I says that it is sending data and then receiving data, and then when receiving contact nr 20, it restarts again .... reallly frustrating... a brand new phone that I didn't even used yet!!
I also tried it with and without sim card and with only the phone/sim memory selected...
If I look in the last outlook contact it synced, it doesn't contain any strange things.
I searched in the faq and the discussion forums, but nothing could help me. Can you please give me some help how to solve this, as the phone is useless to me at the moment and I was planning to buy more of them for the people that work for me.
BTW: The syncrhonization works well with my very "old Nokia phone" and I am using the PC suite already for years now..

Hmmmm... no Reply... that doesn't surprise me at all...
I solved the synchronising problem I had, and it is a BUG in the phone. So I hope some Nokia people will do something with this and send me a software update when they come up with a new software version for the phone. Why the problem, as early described occured?... I did some intensive testing and found out that the nokia 5300 hangs up (restarts) when the outlook contact contains a picture of the person. That is: just like you can add a picture of the person in your phone, that's also possible with the outlook contacts. However, the Nokia 5300 hangs him self up when it encounters a contact that has such a picture. Did you guys test this even? a the phone itself also offers this functionality (that is: add a picture to your phone contact). Regards, Ed Bras

  • Hi there I lost my password for my original iTunes account I can't recover it because the email address it is registered under is not longer valid How can I access my old account?

    Hi there.
I did a factory restore and then restored it with iCloud back-up. I have been using lots of Apple products and i have used three different email adresses. Almost all apps restored perfectly but everytime i try to play a song in the Music app, i asks me for a Apple-ID i had no idea i have used.
    Hence:
I lost my password for my original iTunes account
I can't recover it because the email address it is registered under is not longer valid
How can I access my old account?
Can't find a place to change the email address to my new one without the password which I no longer remember.
There is no way to just erase Apple-ID's on my device either.
What to do? Should i ju give up and start from scratch and delete 2 years of stuf?
    Cheers!

If you can remember the answers to the security questions when you set up that account - I think that you can reset the password without needing email authentication. You can try it here. Read it and see if it's possible. But if you can't remember the answers to the questions it will not work.

Solstice DiskSuite[TM] Software: How to Delete and Reset a Lost Root Password on a System With a Mirrored Root Disk [ID 1010755.1]
    Solution
    Steps to Follow
How to delete and reset a lost root password on a system with a mirrored root disk.
    1) Insert the Solaris[TM] Operating System CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
    2) Once the CD-ROM is in the drive, perform a stop-a. This brings the system down to the "ok" prompt.
    3) From the "ok" prompt, perform a single-user boot from the Solaris OS CD-ROM.
ok boot cdrom -s4) At the "#" prompt, determine which disk is the system's boot disk (containing the root file system). There are several Oracle architectures and various configurations of systems when it concerns a boot disk. As a general rule, most boot disks are attached to controller 0 (c0). Usually, their SCSI target is
either 3 (t3) or 0 (t0). However, Oracle machines are very flexible, and the boot disk could be at a different location. If you are not sure which disk is your boot disk, perform the following steps to determine the location of the boot device:
    a) # eeprom boot-device
The output might appear to be simple, such as "disk" or "disk1" or more complicated, such as a pathname "/iommu/sbus/espdma@4,8400000/...../sd@3,0:a".
    b) Make note of the boot-device. If the boot-device is a pathname, it is beyond the scope of this information to provide the location of the customized boot disk. However, for most configurations,
finding the customized boot disk is an easy task. The "Format" command shows all available disks:
    #format
    Searching for disks...done
    AVAILABLE DISK SELECTIONS:
(enter its number): c) Enter d to exit format.
Now, you will have an idea what disks are on the system. Therefore, if the boot-device is "disk" and format shows "c0t0d0" (on some systems "c0t3d0") then that is the boot device. If boot-device
shows "disk1" and format shows "c0t1d0," then that is the boot device. If format shows multiple disks, then based on what the "eeprom boot-device" command shows, the system's boot disk would be:
    boot-device format
disk c0t0d0 or c0t3d0 (machine dependent)
    disk1 c1t0d0
    disk2 c0t2d0
    disk3 c0t3d0 or c0t0d0 (machine dependent)
    and so on ....
    5) Because the system was not brought down gracefully (no root password means having to use the Stop-a keystroke to "crash" the system), you need to run "fsck" to clean the root partition (slice). The fsckalso confirms that you selected the proper slice.
    # fsck /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
where the X and Y are determined by the previous procedure. It is also possible to have a root partition which is not on slice 0 (s0), but, again, that is not a standard configuration.
The output of "fsck" looks like this:
    ** /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
    ** last mounted on /
    ** Phase 1 .....
The second line in the output of "fsck" ("** Last mounted on /") confirms that this is the correct root filesystem partition. Answer "y" to any questions fsck asks. There shouldn't be too many items
needing repair. If there are, there is a possibility of a corrupted root filesystem. After fsck is finished, mount the root partition:
    # mount /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /a
Again, X and Y are the same as for the fsck command.
    For example:
    # mount /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /a
    6) From the root prompt, set the proper TERM type command (such as vt100, dtterm, sun, and so on)
    by entering this command:
    # TERM=sun; export TERM
    7) Use the VI text editor to edit the /etc/shadow file:
    # vi /a/etc/shadow
    8) The first line of the /etc/shadow file is the one you want to modify.
    It looks like this:
    root:c3.yAVmYodWsc:6445::::::
    9) Delete every character between the first and second colons in the first line of the file. When you finish deleting the characters, the line should look like this:
    root::6445::::::
    10) Press the Escape key, then enter the following to save the file and exit vi:
    :wq!
    11) Use the VI text editor to edit the /etc/system file andremove the "rootdev" line shown below:
    # vi /a/etc/system
    *rootdev:/pseudo/md@0:0,0,blk
Don't comment out the "rootdev" line. Actually remove it.
    12) In the /a/etc/vfstab file, replace the lines for the system filesystem meta-devices with their underlying partitions. For example, change lines from
    /dev/md/dsk/d0 /dev/md/rdsk/d0 / ufs 1 no -
    to
    /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0 /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0 / ufs 1 no -
ONLY change the lines for root (/) and the filesystems that were affected by the actions you took in step 1 of this procedure. All other metadevices may stay as is in this file.
    13) Unmount root, check the root filesystem, and then stop the system:
    # cd /
    # umount /a
    # fsck /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s0
    # stop-a
    14) Boot to single-user mode:
ok boot -swTHIS STEP IS VERY IMPORTANT; YOU MUST BOOT TO SINGLE-USER MODE TO AVOID FILESYSTEM CORRUPTION.
If the system does not boot to single user mode, you might have made a mistake in the previous steps.
    15) Because the root password was cleared in an earlier step, press Return when prompted for the the root password. Once you are in single-user mode, you must clear the metamirrors and all the sub-mirrors for the root filesystem. For example, if root (/) is d0, run the following command:
    # metaclear -f -r d0
Running the metaclear command not only clears the metamirror but also clears the submirrors that are part of this mirror.
    16) When the metamirror is cleared, continue the boot up to multiuser mode by either pressing CTRL-D or by entering the following:
    # exit
Now everything should be as it was, except that the system partition is on the underlying partition and isn't mirrored. You will simply need to re-create the metadevices for the root mirror as you had originally.
    many thanks

    Hi,
    Halt your machine.
    Boot with fail-safe mode.
format and list out the disks. (You can get the root & mirror disk (c#t#d#) details from /etc/lvm/md.tab of your root or mirror disk. Earlier explorer output may help)
Mount the root disk and remove the password entry in /etc/shadow
    umount it.
Mount the mirror disk and remove the password entry in /etc/shadow
    umount it.
    reboot the server.
    Hope this helps!

  • How to Enhance Security of Windows and Recover Lost/Forgotten Password

You maybe always get in some troubles with your PC. Lost Windows password? Forgot Windows password? Your PC was hacked? Therefore, it is a basic step for every Windows users to enhance the security of Windows password. In the networks, it is found that a number of user’s passwords are easy to guess. Only the smallest groups are the most security conscious and select passwords that are mixed lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers and punctuation to create cryptic passwords. Adopting strong password is one of the most effective ways to ensure system security. Here are several methods for you to enhance the security of your passwords in Windows 7/2000/XP/Vista and so on. You’d better remember the methods below unless you want to reset Windows password from time to time.
    1. Is random password a great password?
A common myth is that totally random passwords like Ht3&e#L%5d@$B are the best passwords. This is not true. While they may be strong passwords, they are usually difficult to remember, slow to type, and sometimes vulnerable to attacks against the password generating algorithm. It is easy to create passwords that are strong but much easier to remember by using a few simple techniques. For example, consider the password “Luck-73@Better?”. This password utilizes uppercase and lowercase letters, two numbers, and three symbols. The password is 15 characters long and can be memorized with very little effort. Moreover, this password can be typed very fast. The portion“Luck” and “Better” alternate between left and right-handed keys on the keyboard, improving speed, decreasing typos, and decreasing the chances of someone being able to discover your password by watching you.
    2. Create the long Windows password
Although a password may eventually be discovered through some means, it is possible to create a password that cannot be cracked in any reasonable time. If a password is long enough, it will take so long or require so much processing power to crack it. That is essentially the same as being unbreakable (at least for most hackers).
    3. Create the Windows password constantly?
This may be good advice for some high-risk passwords, but it is not the best policy for every user. It is frustrating for a user to have to constantly think of and remember new passwords every 30 days. It may be better to focus on stronger passwords and better user awareness rather than limiting password age. A more realistic time for the common user may be 90-120 days.
    4. Write down Windows password in a proper place
Sometimes it is necessary for some users losing and forgetting complex passwords easily to write down them somewhere proper. However, it is important to educate users on how to write down passwords properly. Obviously, a sticky note on the monitor is not a good idea, but storing passwords in a safe or even a locked cabinet may be sufficient.
    5. 14 characters is the optimal password length
Each character that you add to your password increases the protection. Your passwords should be 8 or more characters in length; 14 characters or longer is the Optimal Password Length. Many systems also support use of the space bar in passwords, so you can create a phrase made of many words. It is not easier to forget and lose, as well as longer than a simple password, and harder to guess.
    6. Try not to use the same Windows password for all accounts
Some users always make the same passwords for every account to make it easy to remember. In that case, when any one of them lost, your other information protected by that password will be in danger as well. It is serious to use different passwords for different systems and accounts.
    7. Do not use some common words that other users maybe guess
Most of users prefer to use some common words to remember easily, for example, login name, birth date, driver's license, passport number, pets’ name and other words contained their personal information someone knows. In that case, your Windows system will not be safe anymore. Moreover, do remember not to use some words spelled backwards, abbreviations, sequences or repeated characters and adjacent letters, such as, asdfgh, 123456, 888888, abcdef and so on.
You can smoothly use your Windows now because the strong and powerful Windows password is created successfully, Certainly, I believe that many users lost Windows password and forgot Windows password, then you need have to reset Windows password or recover Windows password. It is a big problem for plenty of Windows users that how to reset Windows password. Many users probably do not know how to recover Windows password and they are puzzled by resetting windows password, for instance, reset Windows 7 password, recover password Windows XP, remove Windows Vista password and other operating systems after they create the password with complex letters, numbers and symbols. However, it is unnecessary to worry and it is said that things will eventually sort themselves out. There are many ways to reset forgotten Windows password, including use windows password reset disk and windows password reset software, like Super Windows Password Reset, a professional windows password reset software which could enable you to logon to Windows smoothly without reinstalling system. You can know more by reference to http://www.passwordreset.biz/. Such was the case with using these kinds of tools.
These are all my suggestion about methods to enhance the security of Windows password. To create password for your Windows account is not a thing you should do, but a thing you must do by following my advices. It is the important line of defense against hackers. If your Windows password is indeed attacked finally or nevertheless you lost Windows password, you can try out windows password reset tool I mentioned above. The advantage is that there is no fear of leaking your password to outsiders. Certainly, the only better method is still creating the strong password, do remember it and then change one constantly.

    Hi,
If you haven't emptied your trash while the phone is connected, just re-connect your phone to the Mac and then empty your trash. While you deleted files from your phone's memory card, the Mac actually doesn't delete it until you run the "Secure Empty Trash" command.

    to switch off
    to switch ON/to enter desktop
to connect to computer via PC
    to use bluetooth
in fact without security I can't get anything.
moreover the IMIE number is damn confusing it goes under the battery.
Let me see if this is the real support from whole of the NOKIA company!
    Moderator Note: IMIE number removed

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You should never post your IMEI number on the internet as criminals can use it for dodgy purposes.
The default security code is 12345, if this has been changed and you have forgotten the code then you will need to visit a nokia care point/service centre.
They will be able to reset the code but you will lose all stored data. They will need to see proof of purchase before performing this procedure to ensure that you are it's rightful owner.
It is not possible to reset it yourself.
