Lost Music On Itunes/Ipod

Hello, my problem is when I plug my Ipod into my computer and start up Itunes, the music from CDs I already own (That I've previously added on my Ipod) are all gone, but the music I've purchased is there still.. Does anyone have an explaination for this if so can you help me out?
Thanks, Honeybun.

A little more info from you will help us understand how your iPod is set up to sync with your music library. In iTunes, select your iPod from the list on the left.
1. In the "Summary" tab, is the the "Manually manage music" box in "Options" checked or unchecked?
2. In the "Music" tab, what settings have you have chosen in iTunes for syncing music?
3. At the bottom of the window, how much of your iPod's capacity is shown as being used for audio & how much is free?

  • Lost music from iTunes after upgrading MacBookPro to OS X Yosemite

Lost music from iTunes after upgrading MacBookPro to OS X Yosemite. Has anyone had this problem? How did you re-import all your lost music? My iTunes currently only contains all of the music I have purchased from the iTunes Store but nothing that was burned to my iTunes. All of my music files still seem to be located on my hard drive within the iTunes folder but they did not re-import into the library during the upgrade to Yosemite. Thanx for your help.

    Hi OrangeOAK,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you still have the music on the computer but need to re add it to iTunes. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.
Adding music and other content to iTunes - Apple Support
Adding content on your computer to iTunes
iTunes helps you add digital audio and video files on your computer directly to your iTunes library. You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats. You can also add video content in QuickTime or MPEG-4 format to iTunes. To learn how to add these files to iTunes follow the steps below.
    Open iTunes
From the File menu, choose one of the following choices:
    MacAdd to Library
    Windows
    Add File to Library
    Add Folder to Library
Navigate to and select the file or folder that you want to add
If iTunes is set to "Copy files to the iTunes Music folder when adding to library," iTunes will copy all content that is added to the iTunes library to the iTunes Music folder. To adjust this setting or change the location of this folder, go to the Advanced tab in iTunes Preferences.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a great day,

  • Recovering lost music using my ipod touch

i run a multi-harddrive system. I lost the hardrive that had my music on it.
All of my music still shows on itunes but when i try to play it, it says cant find file path.
All of my music is still on my Ipod touch, but im afaid to connect it to my computer. Because all the music is gone.
Is thier a way to recover all my music from my ipod????
also what about the Back up that itunes, automatically does just before each sync?

    Hi,
Sorry to hear you're having HD problems.
To find out about retrieving your music from your Touch search posts by "Zevoneer" eg. here - [Click Here|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0]
The "Back Up" performed by iTunes is a little misleading, it actually only backs up preferences and settings but not you content.
The lesson from this situation is not to trust all of your valuable music to only one HD, have at least one other HD back up (they are cheap these days) and periodically back up your music files to CD or DVD.
    Good luck,
    Dud.

  • Lost music on itunes;; screen lock

    hi all,
i recently had my computer re-imaged, which means that all programs and settings were removed. This caused itunes to be removed. when this happened, i realized that i forgot to disauthorize my account. When i got my computer back and reinstalled itunes, all of my music was gone. I have not synced my ipod, so all of the music from before the re-imaging is still on my ipod. is there any way to get the music from my ipod to itunes? about 200 songs on my ipod are from CD's, so you may be able to see why i do not want to re-upload them to itunes again.
ALSO: i accidently put my ipod on screen lock, and i have forgotten the code to unlock it. i realize that to unlock it, i have to connect it to my computer, but i do not want my ipod to sync when i connect it. is there any way to connect my ipod to my computer to unlock it without syncing my ipod? if my ipod gets synced i will lose all my songs and data- see explination above.
    thanks for your time,
    megan

is there any way to get the music from my ipod to itunes?
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
is there any way to connect my ipod to my computer to unlock it without syncing my ipod?
Connect the iPod to the computer you normally use it with (the first one that the iPod synced with) and open iTunes. Then disconnect the iPod from the computer and it should no longer be locked.
If that doesn't work, you'll need to restore it.
See: How to restore the iPod to factory settings.

Now somewhere and i do not know how i have the music files with Zero KB afer 99 percent of my music!!!
I would love to have someone from Apple sit here and redo all my music - which some of I do not have anymore. THIS IS THE REASON I MOVED TO APPLE... I GOT TRIED OF RELOADING SOFTWARE WITH MICROSOFT - AT LEAST I NEVER LOST FILES!!!!

  • How to restore lost music back onto iPod?

Background: A few days ago, I synced my iPod. Not sure exactly what I did, but something cause all of my videos and music to be deleted from my iPod during the sync. Anyhoo, I noticed afterward that, under "On My Device," all of my songs and playlists were still intact (as if they are hidden on my iPod, or at least the data is saved somewhere). How do I get what I see on my computer screen to go back onto my iPod?
And also, what does the sync button do in the below picture? Does it put computer stuff--> iPod, or put iPod stuff-->computer?

  • Lost Music on my IPod

After I upgraded to Premium today, I connected my IPod to my Desktop to successfully add selected tunes to a Spotify Playlist. The contents of my IPod show up on my Spotify account, but now I can't get access to the music on my I Pod when I connect to another player. I think the music is still on my I Pod because it shows the same amount of memory used, but my I Pod music and playlists won't come up on the I Pod. Also, I can't find the "Devices" menu on my Premium account to try to solve the problem there. As a new user to Spotify, perhaps I am missing something.. I love the Spotify program and have found it very user friendly and powerful, but I want my IPod back as a stand alone music provider of the music I have paid for.  Any advice or suggestions?

    - First try resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next, if the music in in your iTunes library on your computer I would try restoring the iPod from backup.
