Lost music purchases, through iTouch

Hey all.
Have a slight problem with tracking down my music purchases on my iTouch.
I downloaded a full album, by Adema, listened to it happily this morning.
Only now I've realised as I've gone to put it back on, I only have three songs, of the album, left on my iTouch.
Not quite sure why this has happened, checked my purchase history to clarify I wasn't going insane and yep it clearly states I've purchased and downloaded the entire album.
Had a little look about, but couldn't find anything to help resolve this problem, so if anyone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction of be able to resolve this I'd be very greatful.
Thanks all.
P.S Bare in mind I downloaded these straight through the iTouch, so I have no copy of them on my iTunes, that is on my laptop.

Do you have the iPod set to automatically Sync?
If you do then the music should have been copied back to iTunes when you connected the iPod.
Note that tracks are removed from the Store Purchased Playlist on the iPod when they are synced to iTunes. if you want them on the iPod then you need to make sure they are included in the sync settings you have set up for the iPod.
Check on iTunes under the Album name rather than the Artist name as well sometimes there can be different Artists on the same album so they do not appear together on the iPod in the Artist area.

  • Lost music purchased on iTouch

One feature I love about my iTouch is that I can purchase music straight off of my iTouch; however, when I do connect it to a computer it tends to disappear. I have called and was told that the music goes into my library, but I can't find it there. I can find the proof of purchase, but I can't find the songs in my library. I have iTunes on my home and work computers.
What am I doing wrong? Where could my music be? Or should I just purchase music from my computer and know it goes in that library?

Yeah, this is a common issue, unfortunately.
What you can do, to try to stop it, is, as soon as you plug your iPod into your computer and it is recognized, right click (or ctrl-click on Mac) on the device name in iTunes and select "Transfer Purchases." This will force any purchased content that is on the iPod, but not in iTunes, down to your hard drive. Since I started doing this (6 months ago), I haven't lost anything.
As the other poster said, if you speak to Apple, they should allow you to redownload the songs for free. If they didn't offer that, I would give them another call.
Hopefully the "transfer purchases" thing will help you stop this in the future. And maybe eventually they will fix it.

  • How does one retrieve a lost music purchased list?

It seems that I've lost my music purchased list and I'm wondering if there's anyway of retrieving it through Apple?

Sorry, but I'm not clear on what you're asking. Do you mean that the Purchased playlist is gone? If that's what you mean, just create a new Smart Playlist with Kind = Protected AAC audio file. That will recollect all your purchased music.
If that's not what you meant, please post back and explain your difficulty further.
    Regards.

  • TV Shows and Music purchased through iTunes doesn't work on my iPhone

When I play some of the music and tv shows purchased through iTunes on my iPhone, it would play for around 30 seconds for music and anywhere from 5-20 min for the shows, and then either go to the next song, or stop playing the video for no reason.
It seems to be a specific spot which "crashes" the song, because say the song or video stops at 2:31, I can seek to "2:33", and the song/video would play normally, and not crash.
    What's the reason for this?

Contact Apple and report a problem via your *purchase history*. Either from the iTunes store, or the email receipt they send.
Also you might have more luck in the iPhone forums:

  • What is the best set up (hardware and/or software) to store and access movies and music purchased through apple tv without using the computers storage space

I have run out of space on my imac desktop, which only has 500GB of storage, due to the movies, music, etc. that have been purchased through iTunes and Apple TV.  I do not want to delete the purchases but need to free up space on my computer.  I am looking for the best scenario for moving the media to another source and still have access the media from Apple TV and possibly from ipads, macbooks, ps3, etc. within my house.  I have been looking at upgrading the Time Capsule to a larger capicity one and/or having a backup hard drive to the time capsule.  I would like to know what other people are doing to have these features without filling up their computer's hard drive.  Please advise.  If a media server other than the computer is needed please explain.  Thanks for your help.

Can the time capsule be set up to back up both the computer and the external hard drive, therefore creating a second copy of both?
Can the external hard drive be set up to store all the media which can then be accessed by apple tv and other devises as if the media was on the computer OR will the media have to moved back to the computer's hard drive in order to be viewed on other devises?  Another way to look at this is can you set up iTunes to find the media stored on the external hard drive and access it without moving the media back to the computer?
I realize this must be a problem for many people utilizing iTunes and Apple TV to purchase and view movies and listen to music but the solution does not appear to be easily determined.  I'm sure the first solution would be to just buy a computer with a larger hard drive but that is not the most economical.

  • Did an update and lost music purchased from the iPhone?

OK, updated a friends iPhone, it appeared to backup and all but when it it was done the music purchased from the phone was missing?? Is it hidden somewhere I can get it back onto her phone? I figured it was like apps that have been bought, once you buy them you can download them again..Guess that's not the case!! also some apps where missing. but that was easy enough to put back on, just a pain!

    Not the iphone back up.
Everyone should always keep a back up copy of their important info on an external source - external drive, flash drive, dvd, cd, etc.
If you do not back up, you will likely lose it at some point.
Itunes prompts you to back up on occasion. You can click "Support" at the top of this page and type back up. You can use the help feature in itunes.
You can copy the entire itunes folder.
Please back up. I am amazed that some do not back up their info.
It will save a lot of frustration in the future.

  • Is it possible to sync music purchased through my husbands iTunes account to my iPhone?

Hi, I am trying to sync music from my husband's iTunes account to my iPhone 4.  I have been able to sync photos in the past with no problem.  However, when I connect my iPhone to his Mac and try to sync the music I get a message that all music on my iPhone will be deleted and replaced by the music being sync'd.  Is there any way that I can copy music from his library without loosing the music I've already purchased?

You need to get your husband's music into your iTunes library, once there, you can sync it to your phone. The easiest way to do this is through home sharing:

  • Lost "music" icon on itouch screen?

  • Lost music purchased on iphone!

I have my phone set to manually manage my music, and I recently bought a song on the phone, later connecting to my computer and hitting sync, to sync my contacts and presumably the purchased music. Now I cannot find the song on either the phone or the computer. Anyone?

I have had this happen a couple of times. Call customer care and let them know the situation. They will add the song into your account queue to be available for download the next time you start iTunes.

  • HT1329 what about music that I have taken from a bought CD and put onto my ipod? I have already transfered music purchased through the itunes store, but how do I transfer all the stuff I took from my CDs?

How can I transfer my ipod content from old pc (which cannot be connected to the internet anymore) to my new laptop (which is connected to the internet), Bearing in mind that:
1, I already have itunes on the laptop and have successfully added to my laptop itunes library the few songs PURCHASED from itunes.
2, My ipod (classic) and the itunes library on the pc also has a number of tunes that I have taken from my cd collection.
3, when I connect my ipod to the laptop, it wants to sync to the laptop by keeping the PURCHASED items, and deleting the stuff I have put on from my CD collection.
4, I cannot activate home sharing on the PC because it's not longer connected to the internet and cannot be re-connected to the internet.
    What do I do?

Type "move iTunes Library" into the search bar and follow the instructions found there.
There are multiple ways to move the iTunes library.  Hint:  None of them involve using an iOS device.

  • Lost music on my itouch!

I was syncing my touch and all the music vanished! The bad part is I'm unable to reload any music from my library. Videos and apps are fine.
    Any ideas?

    Ok so a few things...
First, do you back up your data? If not, look at this instance as a little example of why you should start.
Next, iTunes creates a back up of all your data on your iPod when you plug it in to sync. You can restore from there. Im not sure if you can restore music...read this article and then let us know.

  • Cannot sync music purchased on AppleTV to iTunes with 2.0.2

Prior to 2.0.2, music purchased through AppleTV would sync just fine with iTunes (Windows XP). Now, music purchased through AppleTV after I updated to 2.0.2 does not sync with iTunes, nor does it show up in the "Purchased on AppleTV" list in iTunes. Interestingly enough, an interactive booklet associated with one of the albums synced just fine while the music did not.
I've authorized, deauthorized, logged out, logged in, updated iTunes, pretty much everything I can think of. I'm using a wired network and have disabled all firewalls. The purchased music lists and plays just fine through AppleTV.
Not sure if this is related to the other recent sync problems I've read here. Any ideas?
    -Ben

The lack of an ability to browse AppleTV files and drag and drop into a folder/iTunes or wherever would be so handy in situations like this. If you have a technical issue like this and things won't transfer 'automatically' theer would seem to be no way to pull them over manually.
A couple of weeks ago I came home to find all my synced material and direct AppleTV purchases deleted from AppleTV - I had done nothing to cause this and the box was empty of media - fortunately the purchass had synced back the night before automatically, but had they not done so I would have lost them.
I haven't bought anything via AppleTV since. It's fine to purchase via iTunes but defeats the point of Take 2 user interface, and you couldn't rent HD via iTunes either.
I would send some feedback to Apple about this occurrence as it is not a good user experience that makes you trust AppleTV's purchasing and reverse syncing to iTunes. How on earth are you supposed to listen to purchasdes on an ipod/PC/Mac/iPhone if they're stuck on the AppleTV?

  • Is paypal not available for itunes music purchases in Canada?

Prior to this most recent software update, I used Paypal for my music purchases through iTunes.  Today I notice that Paypal is not a choice anymore.  Am I missing something?

What can apparently happen is that for various reasons (replacement of a track in the Store with another copy, slight changes in the release identification, etc.) the link between the track and your Purchase History can break, which will result in the track not appearing as eligible for iTunes Plus upgrade even though it exists as Plus in the Store.
What you'll need to do is contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form at the bottom of the Purchase Issues FAQ web page (there is no category specifically for this issue, so I'd suggest just picking one under the Purchases - problem area) and explain the problem to them. If you've already contacted them via this form, wait a day or two and if you don't get a reply (and if you haven't even received the automated reply you may have a spam filter blocking Apple's messages), try again.
It may take a couple of email exchanges to get past the "form" email responses, but eventually they should work out a solution for you. You may need to provide the track name, artist and order number so they can confirm the original purchase.
    Regards.

My computer was reset to factory condition. I lost everything. I still have all my music on my itouch but cant get it back on itunes on my computer. How can I get it back?

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Or you can use third-party software like Phone to PC to transfer your music.

    Thank you for any assistance.

Tigon's already got you covered here. But I'll chime in with some English localisation advice.
There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:
