Lost my Airport Express software CD!

So, my RokuRadio SoundBridge broke and I am going to go back to my Airport Express, which I quit using after I upgraded to an AirPort Extreme Base Station. My questions: Can I connect my MBPro to my desktop and drag over the Airport Setup Utility, since I cannot locate the software installation CD? ALSO, how will adding the Express affect the speed of my "N" wireless network? Thanks in advance!

What is the main difference between 802.11n (802.11b/g compatible) and 802.11n (802.11a compatible)?
802.11n (802.11b/g compatible) - Operates at 2.4 GHz. 802.11a clients can not connect.
802.11n (802.11a compatible) - Operates at 5 GHz. 802.11b/g clients can not connect.
And should one use 5GHz or 2.4GHz?
Depends on the clients capabilities and RF interference in that location on each frequency range.
And is 5GHz available only with "n" only or "n" with "a" compatible, and in that case the Express unit will not be able to connect?
Yes, that is true.

  • AIRPORT EXPRESS SOFTWARE WONT INSTALL

    Hello All,
Anyone know a reason why I can't install the Airport Express software on my Mac Book Pro?
When I place the disk in the drive the icon comes up on the desktop. I open the icon and click on the installer to begin the installation process. Once, I get through all the legal mumbo jumbo and to the destination drive screen, the installer tells me that the version of OS X I have isn't supported. Is 10.5.1 compatible with the software? If not, where I can I get a copy of "compatible" software?
    Thanks
    Calvin

calgenjon, Welcome to the discussion area!
Don't worry about that software. Instead use "AirPort Utility" which you will find in the /Applications/Utilities directory.

  • Airport Express software update reminder each time at start up

Why do I get Airport Express software update for 5.4.2 reminder each time at start up? I try to update from 5.4.1 by clicking update button, and zoom, the Airport Express screen disappears and no update begins. Your help is appreciated.

I'm not getting an update message, so I can't re-create your view, but this might help.
Open AirPort Utility. On the AirPort Utility menu right next to the Apple icon, select Check for Updates.
    Any help?

  • HT201577 I changed the network name on my time capsule and lost my airport express...how do I get it back?

I changed the network name of my time capsule and lost my airport express in the process.... I have tried all of the resets (soft/hard/factory default) suggested in other answers to people but cannot locate the network of my airport express.  It just keeps flashing amber. I want to add it back to my time capsule to extend my network as it was before I reset the name.  HELP

Which model of AirPort Express do you have?
If you are not sure, the model number is on the side or bottom of the Express. Hard to see.....you may need a magnifying glass. The model number starts with an "A" followed by four numbers.
Post back with that info.......if you want to get the Express set up again to work with the Time Capsule.
You do have another option as well, although you will have to think in reverse on this one.
Change the network name back to the original name on the Time Capsule, so the Express will work correctly on the network.
Now, change the network name on the AirPort Express.  It will be blinking amber when you do this, so power it off.
Then, change the network name on the Time Capsule and let it restart.
Now, power up the AirPort Express and it will join up with the Time Capsule network since you have already programmed it with that information.

  • Loading Airport Express Software onto my Vista Laptop

I have a Acer Aspire 7520 Laptop I have set up the Airport Express which is working fine with my laptop but cannot load the airport express software setup assistant, Vista keeps coming back with an error message so can not use my printer or Airtunes Please help Thanks Den Barrett

Hello Den Barrett. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
The earlier version of AirPort 4.2 for Windows is not compatible with Windows Vista, although I have heard reports that folks had some luck running it under WinXP-compatible mode.
I believe the new version 5.x is, however it's not available as a download.
The following is a workaround provided by another Discussions member ...
    1. You will need a program called Less_MSIerables:
    http://blogs.pingpoet.com/overflow/archive/2005/11/16/14995.aspx
    2. Download it to your desktop
Unzip that file (Should end up in your unzipped file folder)
    3. Now, download Airport Extreme (works for Airport Express, too) software:
    http://wsidecar.apple.com/cgi-bin/nph-reg3rdpty2.pl/product=14697&cat=1&platform =osx&method=sa/AirPort521Update.exe
    4. Use a program like winrar or winzip to uncompress that file to a new folder
    5. Next go to the folder in which you saved the unzipped version of Less_Msierables
    6. In a subfolder you will see a file called Lessmsi.
    7. Right-click on this file
    8. Go to properties.
    9. Go to compatability.
    10. Run in XP Mode
    11. Apply
    12. OK
    13. Again right-click on icon.
    14. Run as administrator.
    15. Then click on the ... button to browse to the folder you uncompressed the AirPort521Update (adjust for whatever version they happen to be on)
    16. You will see a list of many files, but the one of the first will be APUtil.exe.
    17. Extract this file to a location that you can easily find.
    18. A file folder will appear with a name like cab#APSetup.cab1
    19. Open that file folder and you will see a file APUtil.exe
    20. Click on that file, and the admin utility will open. You should be able to find your airport device.

  • Can't install AirPort Express Software

    Help!
Trying to install AirPort Express Software in my computer. It's an iMac 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4. It was installed with OS X 10.3 with updates through 10.3.9. I recently installed Leopard 10.5 and it is now updated to version 10.5.1. But, when I try to install the software for my new AirPort Express, it says "you cannot install AirPort on this volume. The version of Mac OS X on this volume is not supported." Huh? AirPort express says it can be used by computers working on OS X 10.4 or later. What might be my problem? THANKS!
    Terry

    Duane,
Thank you for your speedy response!!!!
When I open the AirPort Utility.app, a window opens called AirPort Utility, the twirly/stopwatch icon goes into motion next to the words"Discovering Base Stations." After this happens for some seconds, these words appear...
"AirPort Utility was unable to find any AirPort base stations. Please make sure the AirPort base station you want to set up is plugged in and in range of your computer, and then click rescan to try again."
My express is plugged in five feet from my computer. What to do....?
    Many thanks!
    Terry

  • I have lost my Airport Express Password. It is still connected to some devices. Can I recover it and if not how do I reset it?

I have lost my Airport Express Password. It is still connected to some devices. Can I recover it and if not how do I reset it?

If you can connect to your wireless network and you're using an Apple AirPort Base Station, then simply use AirPort Utility. From the Base Station menu, select Show Passwords...
Or, reset your wireless network password by momentarily depressing the reset button on your AirPort Extreme, Express, or Time Capsule. Press the button for one full second, no more. Then, configure a new password using AirPort Utility.
If you can't connect to your wireless network, or you are not using an Apple AirPort Base Station, you can use the procedure that follows below to retrieve it from your Mac's Keychain.
Your wireless network password is stored in your Mac's Keychain.
You must first have an Administrator account on a Mac that you use with that AirPort Base Station, one that is used to connect to your AirPort network.
On that Mac, open the Utilities folder. Find Keychain Access and launch it.
In the search field at the upper right, type Airport. All the Keychain entries for your base station will appear there, as well as other entries.
Look at the column "Kind". The entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort network password" (not "AirPort base station password" or anything else).
If you are trying to recover the AirPort Base Station password then the entry you want to select will be labeled "AirPort base station password" not "AirPort network password".
Double-click that, and in the window that appears check the box for "Show password".
You will get the following window:
In the Password field type your Mac's Administrator password - the same one you used to log in to that Mac.
Then, click Allow, and your wireless network password will appear in the "Show password" field:
    Make note of it.
Close the window, then quit Keychain Access.

  • Lost software, where can I get Airport express software?

I have lost my software for airport express and need to reinstall it. Where can I get it?

    have you tried here ?

  • Airport Express Software v4.2

I want to use the Airport Express to play music through my home theater but can't get the base station to recognize my wireless network. When I attempt to install the software (setup assistant, admin utility and status menu) it won't install because I downloaded a newer version of iTunes this month. Suggestions?

I just realized but have to ask the question. Is version 5.1 an update to the Airport Admin Utility or is it an update to the Airport Utility that came with the 802.11n Extreme Base Station. Big difference. I noticed the latest version of the new Airport Utility is v5.1 for both the Mac and PC. There was a recent upgrade from v5.0 but that is for the Airport Utility (new Utility that will manage all equipment for comes with the 802.11n) not the Airport Admin Utility.
I am sure that the last update for Mac )S 10.4.10 should have upgraded the Airport Admin Utility I have on my Hard Drive which shows as 4.2.5. That tells me the latest version of Airport Admin Utility (at least for the Mac) is 4.2.5 and that is for people who do not have the new 802.11n Extreme.

When I have my iMac check for software updates, will it also check for updates to the Airport Express? Or do I have to do something different to update the softwear on the Express?

When you open the AirPort Admin Utility it will alert you to updates.

  • Airport Express Software for Leopard

Hi, the installation disk for my new Airport Express device says, that it wouldn't run due to my OS, which is 10.5/Leopard.
The software lists don't give any clou, where to find a valid version for Leopard.
Does anyone know how to succeed in using the airport?

It sounds like you may have bought an 802.11b/g AirPort Express (AX).
Ignore the software on the disc. Go to /Applications/Utilities and use "AirPort Utility" to configure the AX.
