Do you have the Navigation Toolbar visible: View > Toolbars > Customize ?
* Make sure that you have the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then see if you can find them in the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window
* If you see the missing item in the Customize window then drag it back from the Customize window onto one of the toolbars.
* If, in "View > Toolbars > Customize", you do not see that item then click the "Restore Default Set" button

The back and forward arrows are missing, as are the house icon and the refresh icon. All that goes in that area. Can you tell me how to find them? Thanks

• Back and forward arrows vanished.

I just opened Safari and for what ever reason the back and forward arrows next to the refresh button are not there and I cannot find a setting or something to switch them back on. I didn't turn them off (if thats possible), so how did it happen? How can I fix it and keep it from happening again?

Hello,
In Safari, your Toolbar can be customized to your desire. It sounds like you by mistake removed the Back/Forward button or it is possible that the preference file is somehow corrupted. Anyway, by holding down the control key, you can individually remove an item from the toolbar. So, I assume that is how it was removed. To add the Back/Forward button, open "Customize Address Bar" via the View drop-down menu. Simply drag the arrows onto your toolbar in the location of your choice and press "Done". When you quit Safari and relaunch, the Back/Forward button should still be present. If it does not stay on the bar, do let me know. I hope this helps!

• How can I get back and forward arrows like EI

How can I get back and forward arrows?

Is this about Firefox on a desktop computer as your user agent would suggest (the thread is tagged as Firefox OS)?
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.
*Firefox menu button > Options
*View > Toolbars (press F10 to display the hidden Menu bar)
*Right-click empty toolbar area
Use Toolbar Layout (Customize) to open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.
*check that "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette into the Customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup

• Does not open default site.Needs retry in favorites. Back and forward arrows do not work

Facebook is the defaulkt address but, when I open Firefox thw scrren is blank (bar are present, though). This happens after last review
In addition, back and forward arrows do not work (this has always happened since Firefox 4 beta)

* First to prevent interferences between current and Beta versions, use a specific profile for Firefox 4.0 Beta. In your new Beta profile, you can recover all your customizations from your 3.6 profile. See Recovering important data from an old profile.
* Then, if it is not fixed, see Back and forward or other toolbar items are missing.

* In Firefox 3.6 and later on Windows you can hide the "Menu Bar" via "View > Toolbars" or via the right-click context menu on a toolbar.
* Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
* Go to "View > Toolbars" or right-click the "Menu Bar" or press Alt+V T to select which toolbars to show or hide (click on an entry to toggle the state).

• New Firefox page does not have back and forward arrows, refresh or stop features on it.

I used to have a back and forward arrow, an X to stop something and a refresh sign on the second line at the top of the screen and box with the link I was on shown so you could copy and paste it. Those features are no longer there.

Did you reset the general.useragent prefs on the about:config page?
You can open the about:config page via the location bar, just like you open a website.
Filter: general.useragent
If any general.useragent prefs are bold (user set) then right-click that pref and choose Reset.
* If, on Windows, in Firefox 3.6 the menu bar is hidden then press and hold the Alt key down or press F10, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear
* Go to "View > Toolbars" and check-mark "Menu Bar" with a click on it to make that permanent. See Menu bar is missing).
* Make sure that you have the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then see if you can find them in the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window
* If you see the item in the Customize window then drag it back from the Customize window to one of the toolbars.
* If, in "View > Toolbars > Customize", you do not see that item then click the "Restore Default Set" button

• Back and forward arrows do not work why?

Since upgrading to 4.0.1 The back and forward arrows do not work. I've tried uninstalling and installing a number of times. Can you help please!

Right click the Back / Forward buttons to get a list of sites visited.
You can also install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/backforward-dropmarker/

• Why are the Back and Forward arrows gone?

In Firefox 4 the most irritating change is getting rid of the buttons for Back and Forward. Others have complained, correctly I think, about the Refresh/Reload icon gone, the Stop button gone. But I really MISS the arrows. I also didn't like having text and icons together in the menu bar, but I figured out how to change them.
So... How do I get rid of the words Back and Forward and get the arrow buttons back?

If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

• How do I change the color of the back and forward arrow to green

In Windows 7 the color of the back and forward page arrow is blue.
On my desktop computer using Windows XP the color of the back and forward page arrow is green. This is much easier on my eyes.
Is there a way to change the color to green in Windows 7?

Firefox on Windows XP uses a different default theme than Firefox on Vista & 7. Try using the XP on Vista theme, this should replicate the XP theme on Windows 7.

• If I open a second window in Safari it doesn't have the home page icon nor does it have the back and forward arrows. Why not?

How do I get a second Safari page with the home page icon and back and to arrowsl?

Move to the desktop or rename the com.apple.Safari.plist
Found in your User/Library/Preferences/
Finder>Go>Go to Folder (copy and paste:)
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Quit and restart the browser. The default plist will be rebuilt. See if this sorts your problem.
If no you can always put back the original plist, no harm done.

• Start Firefox and homepage is not displayed; cannot navigate back to previously viewed pages using back or forward arrows; bookmarks toolbar not available on start-up though selected in options menu.

1. Start firefox and my homepage is not displayed--there is no webpage displayed on initial startup. A homepage is listed in the options menu. In order to see homepage I need to manually press the home icon to the right of the search box.
2. I am not capable of using the navigation arrows to the left of the address bar to navigate to previously viewed webpages. The arrows are present but are gray. Is there a setting in the security tab of the options menu that disables the navigation arrows for security purposes (i.e. not remembering webpages or cookies, etc.)?
3. Though the bookmark toolbar is selected in the options menu, the bookmarks toolbar is not visible when starting firefox. Instead there is a red firefox toolbar located at the upper left of the screen. In order to view the bookmarks toolbar I need to go into the options menu and de-select the bookmarks toolbar (causes the red firefox toolbar to disappear) and then re-select the bookmarks toolbar.
Any information to help correct these issues is greatly appreciated.
Mike

framerotblues suggestion worked for me. I was having the following problems after 10.0 update:
>No back/forward buttons.
>Nothing in address bar.
>Bookmark toolbar would not automatically load. Even though it was checked as a toolbar to view, I had to uncheck and check it again every time I closed/opened Firefox.
>Could not access add-ons. Neither through menu toolbar nor using ctrl-shift-a
Restarted Firefox with add-ons disabled (help->restart with add-ons disabled). Removed Facebook Disconnect from add-ons. Restarted and everything seems to be working.

• The back and forward arrows are greyed out all the time - How can I fix this?

I am currently using firefox ver 21. However the forward and back buttons are greyed out and will not work. I would be happy to re-install the program but how do I re-install without losing all my bookmarks and settings.
Please advise.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

• My search bar, back and forward arrows are gone on safari

All of a sudden on my Safari all that shows up are my bookmarks and websites I'm currently on. I looked through preferences for Safari and nothing shows up to put on a search bar. It still shows the search engine on the preferences. I just updated the latest of mavericks yesterday, just wondering if this happened to anyone else and if you know how to fix it.

A wild guess: do you mean the separate search field (besides the URL address field)? If that is it, it was discontinued in Safari; Firefox still has it. It is now one combined search/address field:
You can either do a search or enter a website address.
