Lost My Collections in Bridge

I recently installed Lightroom 3 and moved all my photos to an external hard drive.  Now Bridge shows my photos, but all the collections and keywords I assigned in Bridge have disappeared.  I want to refer to those collections and keywords to help set up Lightroom.   How can I recover them?   Thanks in advance for any help given!

Update -- I think I found what I did wrong.  Can I blame Lightroom "overload" for my lapse of memory?  Been working on it all day today.

  • Help.......I moved my LR5 catalog to a new hard drive and lost my COLLECTIONS

I moved my LR5 catalog to a new hard drive and lost my COLLECTIONS.  In the collections i get the messageI then locate the file in the new drive :
i locate the file and receive this message
How can i get the Collection to redirect to the new location??   I have about  a LOT of missing pics in Collections.
    Thank you!  Jamie

    Thank your for responding.......
To clarify....I moved LIGHTROOM to a new hard drive....including 1) Working catalogs, 2) Working exports, and 3) Working Originals.  I now know i did not follow correct procedure for "moving a catalog".  I dragged  it to the new hard drive. Yikes!!
(I was at Imaging last week and spoke to Julianne Kost, she recommended that i use the FIND link....but this gave me the same result as i am speaking about above.)
To Clarify......The Collections are listed. The target path to the images did not change when i moved to the new hard drive.
There is an exclamation point in the right hand corner of the images in each collection.  When i click on the exclamation mark i get the message....."“JK_120214_7782.NEF” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"  I then locate the file IN THE NEW current DRIVE...at which time i click on it and i receive the message.....
this file is associated with another photo in the catalog.... each file can only be associated with one photo.  Then if i choose to show in library....it points to the image in the FOLDER  tab...which is in fact where the image is located.
Up to this point, when i need one of these older collections i have had to recreate.  i have manually gone to the original.....in the FOLDER tab, found the image and added to the Collections again.  Then i go back and delete all the files with the ! ......a long and tedious task.  I was hoping there was an easier way to recreate my "collections".
Initially i was going to just MOVE the entire library again ( the correct way) ....which i should've done i believe.  Now i have imported more jobs and have created additional collections , so i'd love to find a short cut!
I hope this is a bit more clear!!
    Thank you.

  • How To import collections from Bridge cs6 To Bridge CC

How To import collection from Bridge cs6 To Bridge CC??
    thx

How To import collection from Bridge cs6 To Bridge CC??
A collection is a bunch of aliases to the original files in their original place. If you have upgraded to CC on the same machine you can use the same collection, on a different machine it will possible not find the correct location again.
On a Mac the path for the saved collections is : User / library/ application Support / Adobe/ BridgeCS6 / collections. Inhere are the saved collections showing the names you gave them. You can copy these collection files to the same location in Bridge CC.
If you have a different machine you best first choose the collection and add a keyword with the name of the collection to all the files in this particular collection so you can use the find command to easily recreate the collection on your new machine.
Maybe someone with more knowledge of Windows can show you the correct path but it should be something similar as on a Mac.

  • LR2 lost all Collections - help please

I've been working with the upgraded LR2 for a couple of days. Today I was working with Smart Collections, somehow managed to generate an error message (can't remember the wording, sorry), and now I have lost all Collections, both those that were brought across from LR1 and the new ones created today in LR2. The Collections tab is completely empty.
Restarted LR2 and tried to generate a new Smart Collection, with a title the same as that created before the error. LR2 tells me that the specified name is already in use, so I presume the Collections are on my hard drive somewhere. I'm just searching now for .lrsmcoll
Is it possible to import previously created Collections, and if so how? I backed up the catalogue this morning - hopefully that has saved me a lot of work :)
    Many thanks for any help
    Mike

Update: My problem seems to have been self-caused. About the same time I started using LR2 I bought a new hard drive and moved all my pictures to it using a somewhat different directory structure. I was able to "teach" LR2 the new locations but the information in the collections was not updated. I still have the original drive and structure and if that's on-line, the collections work fine. I have found no-way to update the collections as to the new locations. Is there a way?

  • Sub-collection in Bridge CS5

Is there anyway to create a sub-collection in Bridge?  After searching it appears that you can do it in Lightroom, but I need Bridge
    thanks

Have never done a collection, much less a collection of a collection.  So when you try it in Bridge what happens?

  • Nested Collections In Bridge?

Is it possible to create nested collections in Bridge? I've looked in the help file, but can't find any mention. Don't know if I'm missing it or it just can't be done.
    Thanks,
    Chuck

Collection is not folder it is just the file that is created in the bridge preferences to ease out the navigation for the user.
    Go to C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS5\Collections
you will find the filelist files ther with the name of your collection, if you open those file in the wordpard you will see the path of the files included in the collection.
hence I dont think the nested collection could be created becuase we cannot refer the filelist file in another filelist file.

  • Contents of collection in Bridge CS 5.5 missing

Hello, i create a collection in Bridge (35 pictures) and after disconnected Bridge, when i go back to the collection, all the pictures are gone ! I can't see none of them. Is there a function record the collection before disconnection ?

You must have done a screen shot of the thumbnail as the enlarged version is same size.  But can still see difference.
I would revisit your thumbnail setting and make sure it is HQ Iif you want to see edits in thumbs, and  check the default ACR setting.  Don't assume they are the same as computer can do unexpected things.
Read the link I gave in post #1 as see if you have all the correct options selected.
When you click on thumb does the preveiw panel show the same dull image or a correct one?
It is possible the update fouled everything up, but seems like there would be more complaints.  I am still on ACR 6.4 however.  Am a slow adopter.

  • After reinstalling Photoshop PS6 I cannot any longer save smart collections in Bridge

Hi, after reinstalling Photoshop PS6 I cannot any longer save smart collections in Bridge. I create a smart collection by entering criteria, but when I click on SAVE, it is not saved. In my old installation (before I had to install a new hard disk), that never was a problem.
I am using Windows 7. Before, I used a hrad disk for the system, now I have a SSD, plus seveal hard disks for data storage.
Can anybody help me with advice what the problem is?
    That whould be great. Thanx,

  • I lost a collection during a backup

I have Lightroom 4.4 and I lost a collection.  I started to export the collection and cancelled it as soon as it started.  I then decided to remove a couple of the images from that collection and it was non-responsive.  I then decided to quit Lightroom and backup. The backup started and I waited 10 minutes for a progress bar to appear but it did not.  I went to the force quit window to see if Lightroom was still working on the backup and it said Application not responding so I said okay to force quit and now I've lost just the one collection in which I have edited images.  All the images were edited as a copy with Lightroom adjustments in Photoshop.  I don't mind rebuilding the collection, but I need those files.

Have you tried Spotlight?  If no success, download Easy Find and see if that helps:

  • Accessing "Collections" in Bridge CS6

The latest version of Bridge in CS5 shows my collections with no problem. However with Bridge in CS6 collections cannot be accessed. Do I really have to set these up all over again?  Alan

  • Unable to Create Smart Collection in Bridge CC

I've recently ungraded to Bridge CC, and one of the first things I wanted to get set up again are my smart collections. When I click the "new smart collection" icon the dialog box appears, I specify the type of folder I want to create (exactly how I have done hundreds of times before in CS6) and then I hit "Save" and nothing happens? It shows an active blue "save" button, but when I hit save nothing happens? Anyone else experience anything like this?

I just found an article to which you had replied Jim.
Your comment leads me to believe that my assumption was correct ... if the NAS is connected (original images) then the histogram in the Develop Module should show "Original+Smart Previews".

  • Sharing collections in Bridge CS5?

Does anybody know if I can share a collection w/ someone else if we are on the same server of images, using Bridge CS5? It would seem to be a no-brainer, right?
    Thanks, y'all...

At first glance the answer would be "that is what the purpose of networks are--to share data".  But you might have to check the help files on Bridge to see how it reacts over the network, whether two people can access the same file at the same time, especially with video, and what would happen if one of those people updated the file--what would become of the file that the second person is using--would it automatically update?  In the event they were using Linked Images such as in Illustrator I guess that would work pretty well but the communication needs to be open between the file users to see who will update what.  I do not know if Bridge has a legend or key that displays when a file has been changed by one person on the network.  There are other Adobe network-shared programs that do have this feature although the name of the product escapes me--it's one of their document products.

  • Lost all the keywords - bridge cs3

Hello! It seems bridge suddenly cancelled all the keywords I had saved - now when I open it and try to insert keywords in the photos, instead of giving me the whole list of keywords I had created from which I picked out keywords to apply to each photo, the program only gives me a couple of stupid default keywords. If they were really all gone, it would be a year's work gone. Can anyone help?
    Thank you so much.
    Annalisa

If they were really all gone, it would be a year's work gone. Can anyone help?
The keywords list is in the user library (user library/application support/Adobe/BridgeCS3 : Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml
If you have problems with Bridge first thing to try is restart Bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences.
And you should have made a back up of your keyword list on a regularly base using the export menu under the fly out menu top right of the keyword panel. There is always a risk of a crash or other stuff.
Your keywords are not lost, they still are assigned to the files but your keyword tree might. If you select a file with keywords that are assigned but not on the list they will appear in italic on your keyword list. Click on them with right mouse click and choose make persistent to get it back in the list. Painstakingly because you have to do that one by one.
If you have a back up from the library somewhere (time machine?) and your list is still gone after reseting preferences copy the above mentioned keywords file to your current user library to retain the old one.
If you have an exported file of them you can easily import the list again in the same menu as export.
And Tai Lao is correct with CS3, it is really the worst version ever of Bridge.

  • Sharing collections in 'Bridge'

I have read through the thread regarding utilizing 'Bridge' to organize images. I recently attended a CS5 Roadshow where the speaker utilized a collection to manage a set of images from various server locations.
What I am trying to do is utlize a master image library, and then only link the images we need for a project to a collection that the rest of the design team can utilize without copying these images to the job folder for the project, therefore duplicating the images.
My Question? Is it possible to export or share a 'Bridge' collection  with other designers in the studio without shifting the images into a  single folder?
