Lost my existing calendar? How do I get it back?

I cannot find my calendar anywhere? I was trying to disable add on's and restarted multiple times because Thunderbird keeps crashing. Can I get back my calendar?
Also I notice that it downloads all 20,000 emails every time I log on - is this negatively affecting its speed and how do I manage this?
Thank you

One problem at a time.
Open the Add-on Manager.
Tools (Alt-T) - Add-ons
Look for Lightning. Is it enabled? If not, enable it. You'll need to restart Thunderbird then.
