Lost my garageband in a mishap

Hi-
I've got one of the infamous "freezing" iMacs. Finally had to erase & restore my data backup didn't backup so well and I cannot get Garageband to work. I keep getting an error on initialization that states Garageband expects a valid instrument library folder in / Library/Application Support/Garageband. I can't find anything that looks like that. I was able to download the 4.1 update but I need the original download. Where would I find that. I have upgraded to OSX 10.4.10.

You should know that OS X hasn't got iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand preinstalled, so you have to install them manually after reinstalling OS X.
If your Mac didn't come with DVDs or you purchased those apps in the App Store, open App Store > Purchases, and download iPhoto and GarageBand.
If your Mac came with DVDs or you didn't purchase those apps in the App Store, insert the Applications DVD or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 that came with your Mac, and install iLife applications. Then, open  > Software Update to install the latest version

How do I retrieve lost iPad GarageBand audio tracks?

Help! I was working on a song in Garageband on my iPad Mini-Retina when suddenly all of the tracks audio disappeared. The tracks are still there in rows down GB, but the loops with the actual audio are not there anymore. It also shows only a 2 measure length. At the time this happened, I was recording a new track. When I hit stop and went back to the loop browser, everything was gone. I do not have these backed up to iCloud because I do not currently have internet access at my new apartment. I have spent days and numerous hours on this project and was over the moon with how it was turning out. Please help!!

I upgraded about a week ago to 10.4.11 and it corrupted my OS. It would not boot and so I ended up buying 10.5 and had to do a full reinstall... I was able to bring the computer up in target mode before the wipedown, and unfortunately forgot a file that is important to me. What are the chances of recovering this file? And how would I go about to it?

It would probably be important to say that I did not zero the hard drive

Actually photoshop elements 6 should work on modern intel macs.
The only problem is that adobe doesn't have photoshop elements 6 installers available anymore, though there may be a chance to get the pse 6 installer if you bought pse 6 as a download from adobe
and login to your adobe account using the same user id and password as you did back then.
Otherwise hopefully you have the photoshop elements 6 install dvd.

GarageBand for iPad -- too many instruments?

Ugh. I'm completely lost in GarageBand. I was just messing around and when I tapped "instruments," it said I had already recorded eight and I would have to delete some tracks. Well, I have no idea what that means. Delete tracks from the demo? That's my first question.
My second is: the red "recording" band stays at the top of my iPad when I exit GB, but I don't THINK I'm recording. What's that all about? Where are these recordings stored? Can I get rid of them?
Third, how do you "start a new song" or whatever? I seem to be stuck in the demo.
Is there a manual for this thing? Thank you.

Once a song has eight tracks you can't add an addional instrument to the project. You could delete one of the instrument tracks from the demo if you wanted to experiment with it.
It would be better if they had used the word Saving instead of Recording. As far as I can tell all it is doing is saving the current state of your project. The fact that it requires a background task to do this suggests it is probably trying to optimse its use of storage when it is not active. Like most iOS apps it uses a private storage area. You can delete songs you no longer want to free up memory from within the GB interface.
To create a new song tap My Songs then use the + tool.
When a song is open press the ? top right for help, or view the GarageBand for iOS Help pages

Lost applications due to "Erase and Install" option in Leopard Installation

I bought a new Macbook this morning at my local Apple Store, and they gave me a Macbook running Tiger as well as a Leopard Installation Disk. I wanted my Macbook to be just like new, so I called Apple Support and they told me to do an "Erase and Install." After I followed their directions and was finally running Leopard, I noticed that I lost programs: Garageband, iPhoto, and iMovie to name a few.
How can I get these applications back?
And it is absolutely ridiculous if I have to buy iLife '08 because I had these programs already on my computer with Mac OSX Tiger before Apple told me to "Erase and Install."
p.s. I received 2 other disks that seem to be of no help...2 Tiger Installation disks.

Ok if you purchased a new macbook reload the original os x tiger restore cd's you have to hold the c key at startup to boot from it format and reinstall mac os x tiger then once os x tiger is installed update to the latest version of tiger first then connect a external hard drive and use carbon copy cloner to backup your hard drive the reason for this is when you upgrade from tiger to leopard the os has a high tendency to remove the idvd and garageband content so none of your ilife apps will function after the upgrade this is why you need the external with it the first time you install mac os x leopard it will ask do you want to transfer your settings from another partition on this mac select this option and select the external and everything will be fine

I can't see some collection attributes in the DSAME

Hi, this is the problem: i want to edit some collection type attributes like channelsHasFrame, channelsRow, channelsColumn... in a Container with the DSAME but the attributes didn't appears, if I try to create them, the DSAME warn me that all ready exists. The advance property for the attributes in the display profile has a false value. Why the attributes aren't displayed in the DSAME?

That sounds like it might be a failure of the students to perform a Save As and check Archive Project when they do. This asks GB to pull all the files it needs into the associated .band document rather than point to them externally (and then risk not having them be there).

My Garageband project crashed, the file lost/damaged! How to recover it?

I've been working my garageband project when suddenly the window was closed and the notification asked me to reopen, report or ignore it.
This is my second time my project crashed. The first time, I chose 'reopen', and my file reopen. All the midi datas still there, but the sample sounds were empty. So I had to put it one by one. What a job because I had more than 15 instruments there.
But those jobs was better then what I experienced today. After my project crashed, I chose 'ignore' with assumption I would open the last saved file. But it didn't. I really lost my file. The size for one GarageBand projects is about more than 1 MB. But my file after crashed is about 56 KB! So some solutions like 'right click' and 'show package content' didn't work at all because I worked with midi data, not live recording. I tried to find the script file at projectdata and compared it with my other projects, they have more bytes than my lost project file.
So, if you have a same problem like me, just choose 'reopen'. I hope it will save your midi data so you don't have to work it out from beginning (just like I have to do after write this post ... x) )
So guys, is there any idea how to recover my crashed file? I've sent a report to Apple and still waiting their answer.

Reinstalling iTunes won't ever repair damaged libraries or find lost files.
Unlike nearly all Windows software double-clicking an iTunes Library file does not necessarily open the selected database. Rather, iTunes opens the last database it successfully opened, or if that was in the "normal" <User's Music>\iTunes location, but is missing, it will create a new empty library.
You can open an alternate library file, or create a new one, by holding down shift as you start iTunes. Although you can open the library files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder this way, your library will perform better if you restore the archived library database to the main iTunes folder in the way that I have described.
Your most recent library may be present in the main iTunes folder as a .tmp file, or recoverable via a file undelete tool, however either of these files, if found, may be partially corrupt getting you no further forward.
The two most recent releases of iTunes were June 11th and March 28th 2012..
Yes I read your post, but I don't know if you know all of the above. If you had a full backup of your library you could just restore that. It is possible that what you've tried so far hasn't yet brought back the most complete version of your library that is available to you. As a last resort you will have to work with what you have and add in whatever media is not in that version of your library, accepting the loss of recently added ratings, playlists & play counts.
You can simply add the entire iTunes Media folder using File > Add Folder to Library folder which should ignore everything already in the library and only add new (to that database) stuff. If there is any chance that your iTunes media folder contains .m3u playlist files the import process will also import all of those, which may not be what you want. iTunes Folder Watch would then present a better approach.

I recently seemed to have lost Garageband in recent update. Garageband came with ilife 09' when I purchased my macbook. It's something I always had and enjoyed using. Now all of a sudden it's gone along with iphoto and the rest of my ilife apps. Please help!

You can redownload it from your Purchases page of the App Store provided you first purchased it there. If not, then you can restore it from the DVD that came with your iLife boxed set.

You should be able to install your iLife applications from the App Store. This Apple Knowledge Base article has the directions.
