LOST MY IPHONE5S

I've lost my iphone 5s for about 3 weeks now. I know for certain it's in the house. I tried the lost my iphone app. At first it said it was 'online but cannot be located' and the loading icon appeared. After about 2 minutes it then stopped loading and said 'we cannot locate your phone as it is offline.' What does this mean? Its well and truly dead by now but was always on do not disturb. Is it being dead or on DND affecting it? The app has been useless for me. Hasn't even told me its last location (but I know it's in the house.) So is it being dead affecting the app working and I'm worried about it saying online then changing to offline. Anyone know what this means and can they explain it simply to me? Thank you

The only way that Find My iPhone will locate the phone is if it is on and have an active connection to the Internet. That can be either cellular or Wi-Fi. If the battery is dead and the phone is not on, you will not be able to locate it. I would be the first to agree that after 3 weeks, the battery is dead, therefore there would be no way for it to have an active connection.

  • Lost my IPhone5-did not have IFind engaged-Can I use my old 3GS for temp use.

Lost my IPhone5 looks like i did not have my find iphone engaged. So no way in tracking the phone are  any of those third party apps able to locate my device beside the NSA or apple. who are unwilling
I have my  icloud syncronzied with my contacts, is keeping me alive but my mac book pro is out dated is out  i dont sync to that.
So my question i still have my  oldIpnone 3GS. Can I reactiveate this hardware device to replace my lost one, to keep me temporaly up and going?

if apple tracked devices they would be in big trouble
the phone can always be tracked using the IMEI number and tri connection tower calucations police use this in cases of missing persons they need to present a warrent to get the carriers to track them though
and it's a costly thing so doubt they would do it on account of a stolen phone
you can use your old phone if it's gsm by putting in a sim card from the carrier if it's not gsm but cmda then you should talk to the carrier
you can restore the iphone 3gs with the backup of the newer ios version but you can use the same appleID and access apps tied to it

No, nothing you can do to track it if you did not take any measures before the loss.

If they are in iCloud, you can download them as a vCard from icloud.  Look under "Contacts" here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4910.  You can, of course, also view them on icloud.com from your computer.

  • I've lost my iPhone5 like 40 hours ago. I already turned the Lost mode on with Find my iphone app. But my phone has no data plan so it could not connect to the internet at all. I reported to the police, too. What else can I do? Can anybody advise?

    No...see the link I posted:
If you did not enable Find My iPhone on your missing device
If you did not enable Find My iPhone before it was lost or stolen, you can't use it to locate or protect your device, but you can still follow these steps:
Change your iCloud password to ensure that no one else can use your device to delete or make changes to your iCloud data.
Report your lost or stolen device to local law enforcement and your wireless carrier. Apple doesn't track or flag lost or stolen products, but you can use My Support Profile (supportprofile.apple.com) to find a list of serial numbers for products that you've purchased or registered with your Apple ID.

Unfortunately if you did not set up 'Find My iPhone', there is no way to remotely track or wipe the device.

Did you set up the "Find My Phone" before it was lost?
If not, there is nothing you can do.

Unless you have a backup of the iPhone 5 data you lost, it's gone.

  • HT4061 I lost my IPhone5 and after 7 hours I called lost and stollen and now I can't track where was the last location I left the phone ,and I don't remember if I stablished the FIND MY PHONE app.

I lost my IPhone5 and after 7 hours I called lost and stollen and now I can't track where was the last location I left the phone ,and I don't remember if I stablished the FIND MY PHONE app.
Is there any way that I can find the last location that I left it,eventhough I called in lost and stolen and reactivated my # to a different device.

If you didn't set up Find My iPhone or it otherwise does not appear in icloud.com, then there's no way to trace it. Notify the police and your cell carrier, and change any passwords for any online accounts you may have used from your iPhone (the iTunes Store, for instance).
    Regards.

I got the Iphone5 a couple of days ago. Today i tooks some lovely photos and tonight i went through itunes to sync my phone and get my old contacts. In the process i have lost todays photos and the original iphone5 apps. Can i get them  back?

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

  • Help tracing the owner of a lost/stolen iPhone5

I apoligise in advance for the long post, but please bare with me.
I found a handbag/pocketbook tucked under a seat in a car park of a large public park in Orlando (Florida) that contained nothing much but a wallet, a few store receipts and an iPhone5. The wallet was completely empty, so I guessed the contents had been stolen, although I couldn't understand why a theif would leave such an expensive phone behind.
The park is surrounded by several hotels and large resorts, the owner could have come from any one of them or could have just been visitng the park for a few hours, so it wasn't feasible to hand it in to a lost property.
I tried to see if I could call the last number, or perhaps a 'Mom' or 'Dad' but it was password protected so I couldn't get into it.
There was a receipt in the bag from a local store that also contained the name of the woman who made a purchase in the store that same day, so I called the store and asked them if they could trace her from credit card details. They were very helpful and traced the transaction, but unfortunately the woman had paid cash and declined to give her email address to the store, so there were no contact details available. I left my phone number with the store in case the owner retraced her steps that day.
There was another receipt from a restaurant in Ontario from the previous week, so I figured she was probably on vacation in Orlando from Canada.
I decided to keep hold of the phone for the day, rather than taking it to police (the nearest station being 20 miles away), thinking the owner would call and I could arrange to meet them. Sure enough, later that day, the phone rang, but only for a few seconds and not enough time to answer. It rang again later that night, but again only for a few seconds.
I called Apple the next morning with the serial number and asked them if they could trace the owner and let them know I had their phone, but they said no, they couldn't help at all.
The carrier in the corner of the screen was showing as AT&T (although I guess it could have been roaming using that network) so I called them and asked if they could help. They were so unhelpful and uninterested it was unbelievable.
I then decided to search Facebook using the name of the woman on the store receipt and Ontario. A matching name and location came up, so I sent a message asking if she was on vacation in Orlando as I had found a phone, but I have never received a reply.
The next day the carrier (AT&T) disappeared from the screen, so I figured the contract had been cancelled by the owner.
A friend in the police said all that would happen is it would sit in lost property for a while and then get sold on at auction, so I am reluctant to just hand it in to the police.
Apple were not helpful, AT&T were not helpful, no reply from Facebook.
Any suggestions as to what else I can do to trace the owner? I think my only option is to hand it to the police, but I know then it will be lost forever to the owner as it will just sit in lost property.
I was tempted to try and find someone who could get the password removed so I could try and call a few people in contacts, but I don't want to get into any trouble trying to find some hooky person to unblock a password protected phone!
I'm out of ideas, so any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. The battery is now dead by the way and, as I am not an iPhone user (shock, horror I know!!) I have no way of charging it up.
Shall I just take it to the police knowing the phone will probably be lost forever to the owner? I haven't been able to get into the phone so I don't know if it's full of precious photo's or any other imporant info.

No, I really don't want to use it myself. I have never used an Apple product in my life. I am Windows through and through and have no use at all for an iPhone. I run my business synced with my Windows laptop, Windows tablet and Windows phone.
I can't connect it to a computer as I don't have any cables that fit iPhone connections.
I just really wanted the police to be the absolute last resort as I know it will never get back to the original owner once I do that. I admit I'm about to give up though, I would just like to know I have done everything  I could before it goes to the police station.

  • I have lost my iphone5 recently. Luckily, the location services were on and I could trace the phone twice, but was still unable to get it back. I was wondering, can the thief restore all the settings of the phone with or without the charger?

When the lost mode still on?
As my phone is registered with my ID, can he disturb the whole setting and remove my Apple ID so that it cannot be tracked to my ID anymore?
( I don't need to know how, I need to know yes or no).
Once the find my iphone location service is disabled, it is of no use.
Apparently, I believe apple should make sure that once somebody puts his phone in the "Lost mode", all location services should be turned on by default.
The person should not be allowed to turn it off, and neither delete the "Find my iphone" app. In that way, the service may prove beneficial.

So, the only glimpse of hope for me is through IMEI tracking?
Are there any professionals who do IMEI tracking( I dont mind paying them)? I don't trust the police here, they are damm slow..
