  • I lost my iPod installer CD and I havent installed it yet!

    can any1 help me because i lost my installer cd. some1 said i can put music into my ipod without it. if i cant, where can i get it by download??
    my ipod version is 2.2 with the dock

    hmmmm. the PC is just not recognising it at all, by the sound of things.
    let's leave it in disk mode, and try following up on these possibilities:
    Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear
    iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes on Windows

    If you do not have a backup of your iTunes songs, then you'll need to recover them from the iPod.
    These links will give you
    i several
    methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring playlists, ratings, counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search if the links below leave you wanting…

  • Trojan horse on iPod installation disk?

    I just installed iTunes a couple of days ago for my new iPod Nano. This morning, we discovered a trojan horse on the PC - the only software we've installed since the last scan of the PC is iTunes.
    Has anyone else run into this?

    hmmmm. what is the name of the trojan? (exact spelling please.)
    which security software package picked it up?

  • Lost iPod software disk - urgent help needed!

    I've just got a new laptop and am in the process of transferring all my files across. I went to put in my iPod and realised I have lost my iPod software disk (the one that you get with the iPod when you buy it). Is there anything I can do to get some software and install my iPod, or is finding the disk my only way? :/ Please help!

    you can download the latest version of the installer from this location:
    iTunes 7.0.2.16 Installer
    ... and there are also archives of version 6.0.5.20 and the last version of the ipod updater available here (if you don't want to do an itunes upgrade):
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/itunes605forwindows.html
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ipodupdater20060628forwindows.html
    (with iTunes 7.0.x, there is no longer a "standalone" updater application. ipod updates and restores are done with itunes instead.)

  • Ipod installation problem....

    i own an ipod and it runs fine on my computer...recently my sister got an ipod also...she wanted me to set it up on my computer for her. i found out that i needed to log onto another xp user account to do so..so i did. then when i did i popped in the ipod installation disk and during installation got an error..it went sumthing like
    "cannot find "my computer/c:/windows/downloaded installation/{988A90CD....msi" i dont remember the whole file but i checked out my downloaded installation and it wasnt there....
    the funny thing is, it isnt in my folder for my ipod that works fine...

    If you run the iPod updater program under your user account, and then switch to the iTunes library on hers (but be sure to log out), it should sync with her iTunes library. Do you follow?

  • I lost my emac G4 installation disk, how can i get my admin password back?

    I lost my emac G4 installation disk, how can i get my admin password back?

    Here's one method to reset the password without the install disc:
    1. boot computer and hold the "apple" key and the "s" key.
    2. wait for terminal show
    3. release keys
    4. type without the quotes: "/sbin/mount -uaw"
    5. press enter
    6. type without the quotes: "rm /var/db/.applesetupdone
    7. press enter
    8. type without the quotes: "reboot"
    9. press enter
    This will let you create a new admin account when you reboot your computer.
    Also, without the discs, look at Mac OS X Tip - No Password, No Root, No CD? No Problem.
    http://www.macobserver.com/tip/2003/06/16.1.shtml
    Here is a way to get around not knowing the admin password on Macs.
    To reset your OS X password without an OS X CD you need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:
       1. Reboot
       2. Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
       3. When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
              * mount -uw /
              * rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
              * shutdown -h now
       4. After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you’re good to go again!
     Cheers, Tom
