My old pc quit working. Got a brand new pc and downloaded iTunes to backup my iPod touch. I got a message the iTunes will delete everything off my ipodtouch. I do not want all my songs deleted or my aps. So I had to stop sync and canceled my iPods update. How can I use my my new pc with latest iTunes safely so it won't delete my songs and aps on my iPod touch?

You could have more 5 computers authorized if you ever, for example, reformatted a hard drive or replaced a hard drive without deauthorizing the computer first. Apple's system would see that as a different computer, even though you don't. There's nothing to be afraid of in deauthorizing everything and the reauthorizing what you actually have. You won't lose any data. Mistimp is correct, they can't tell you which computers are authorized.

No app on the iPod is required.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

I lost my iPod Touch 3 weeks ago. I just registered it and want prevent anyone from taking the content if they find it. Is there any way for me to contact Apple and inform them of this so they can disable the device if anyone tries to update via itunes?

I understand. I never registered it and tried to register it on the Apple website. After I put in the S/N, the message stated that I would receive an e-mail to the address under my Apple account. Is it possible that whoever found it, registered it and they are receiving the e-mails to the address they registered it under? I'm thinking Apple just maps the S/N to the e-mail address which it was first registered under. My concerns isn't so much the ipod itself, rather my e-mail account and purchased songs and movies which have my e-mail address and credit card information tied to the file. I had a password set on it so it would wipe the data clean if someone attempted to input a password more than 10 times. However, I know someone who actually found an ipod touch last year and just brought it to the apple store saying they forgot the password and the store reset it for them no questions asked!
I will report it lost to the police and just inform my credit card company. I think I will go as far as to change my e-mail address and have yahoo disable my current one. Just to be 100% covered. Next time I will definately ensure I add the feature to remotely wipe the data.

there is nospecial way to locate your iPod, Apple will not help. Your SN is only good for identifying the iPod as yours if it is found.

With no iTunes:
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
Otherwise, find a coputer with iTunes and an internet connection and:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you want to track it, then put it in Lost Mode. If you erase it then you can't track it.

the only limits you'll face is if any of your iPod touch apps are for the iPhone only, they'll show up as tiny in the middle of the screen. There'll be a 2X button that'll allow you to zoom it up...some look better than others. All depends on how high resolution they are made.
Other apps will be in the app store with a + by them, those are universal and scale to fit the screen they are displayed on. Other apps you'll need to buy the iPad version. And you'll find some apps that are iPad only.

You sync music the same way as on the Classic. What you sync to an iPod does not effect the iTunes library on your computer.

You should be able to just place them in your Books library in iTunes and check to ensure that your Book library is configured to sync to your iPod when you sync your iPod to iTunes.
