Lost my key when syncing on an older windows install..

How do you retrieve your key so I can get my old bookmarks and passwords that were saved prior to re installing windows?
I have my username and password but it keeps telling me wrong key.

I see no direct connection.. a printer and the computer setup for internet are not related.
But it sounds like the router in the wife's office is now in the wrong mode..
If you have an existing main router replace the second router for a switch .. that is the easy way.
Otherwise you need to bridge the router if it has that option.. most do not. Or use wan bypass.. where you turn off the dhcp server in the router and fix its ip to match the range of the main router.. this is the hassle of using router as a switch.
BUT I am making a huge number of assumptions.
What I need is the full network layout.. a quick picture would help.
I need main modem.. main router.. (maybe same box or different).. make model and current IP address and how dhcp is setup.
I need secondary router.. if that is what it is, IP and settings.
I want the printer type and model. How it is connected.
BTW I much prefer to see a network printer plugged into the network rather than usb.. it is only a matter of sorting the IP settings and driver pointing to the network rather than local.
Or you should think of it as a broken washing machine and call the technician.. who could fix the whole lot in an hour.

  • Lost my apps when sync iPad with iTunes

when sync iPad with iTunes, apps purchased in iPad by another account were lost, and the apps can't be seen when check for available downloads. How to get back the purchased apps? thanks.

If you lost all your apps on both the iPad and the computer, you can download the apps again at no cost. You can search your emails for app store purchases if you can't remember all the apps that you have downloaded.

  • ITunes displays -48 error message when syncing iPod Nano on Windows XP

My girlfriend's mom's iPod Nano ran out of charge while jogging so she decided to charge it on her daughter's iHome. The next day she went to use her iPod but it was totally empty of all music and files. When she tried to sync it to iTunes, she received an eror message stating, "An unknown error has occurred (-48)" from iTunes and a Windows message stating that some iPod folder/file was corrupted.
If anyone receives such a message, I was able to correct it by:
-Plugging in your iPod to your PC
    -Ignore the error messages
    -Go to My Computer
-Find your iPod's drive letter (ie. G:)
-Right-click on it and select Properties
-Go to Tools Tab >Error-checking and select Check Now
You should be able to sync your iPod as before. I do not claim to be an expert so be warned that it may not work for you. Good luck!

    Hey ermides,
Thanks for the question. The following resource provides information if you are receiving a -50 error message when syncing:

  • Daren't sync iPhone to new Windows install. HELP

My old Windows installation was recently plagued by a virus, and as such I had to back everything up, and re-install. I've retrieved all my music off of my iPod Classic, no problems there. Set the iPod to manual, no stupid iTunes wiping.
I also have a first gen iPhone, running 2.1, synced with the old library and not this one. I daren't plug it in due to fear of having it wiped, which would be disastrous as it's the only copy of all my contacts. Photos and music I can re-sync by hand happily. But somebody please tell me it won't wipe all of my contacts, predictive text, text history, apps etc. Is there any way of making it a manual device like the iPod, and only change what I WANT to change?
Help needed, Thank You in advance.

Oh believe me I'd LOVE a Mac. I'd use Linux if I could, but with the iPod and iPhone I need iTunes. My brother has a MacBook, excellent piece of kit. Mac's my favourite OS, stable and pretty. But I've recently bought a crap load of Photo equipment so I have no real money left lol.
I'd have done an iTunes backup, but I couldn't actually open iTunes. I got all my Photos off the old pc, so that's fine. I just accept a Windows install won't last me that long at any one time. It's a sad fact of life.
I think what I'll do is just manually enter my contacts into Outlook, and then just sync with this library, as long as I have my contacts I'm not fussed, the music needs sorting through on it anyway.
It will work if I put my contacts into Outlook and then sync with this new install won't it?

  • Lost pro key when migrating

Hi - when using Migration Assistant to transfer my files and programs between my eMac and my new iMac G5, I lost the license code I paid for some time back, along with all my license codes for downloaded programs. I really hope not to have to buy a new one! It's my intention to keep only one of these computers for myself. Is there any way I can get the license code to be recognized on the iMac? I have had to re-purchase my license code at least twice already in my ownership of macs (this is my fourth), and I'd rather not have to buy it again. I've only ever had one machine in my home at a time.
So - can I get the code back, or do I have to buy it again?

Did you not keep the email Apple sent you with the code when you purchased it/them? If you still have the email, just re-enter the key information.
If not, but you purchased the key directly from Apple, log into your account in the Apple Store and click on the Downloadable Software Purchases link. You should find the key shown there.

  • Lost some contacts when syncing

    Hi
I just got an iPhone 4 and i sync everything from my iPhone 3. The problem is that I had 70 contacts on my last iPhone and just 59 was syncing to the new iPhone. When I noticed that, I conected iPhone 3 again to transfer the other contacts to the computer, but it removed some contacts and now I have 59 on Both. Das anyone knows how to recover those contacts that I lost?
    Thank you.

    Welcome to the discussions,
if you have a backup of you 3G before you lost the contacts, you could restore from that one. But as every backup replaces the old one, it has to be an iphone backup included in your computer backup routine.
You iphone backup folder is located here:

  • Lost Some iTunes when Synced with iPhone

When I switched to a Mac (because my Windows based computer was stolen) I used my iPhone to download all my iTunes to my new MB Pro. However, when I purchased iTunes on the phone they would not sync. So when I synced together, I lost some music and audiobooks. I can't tell what didn't sync but I just know when a song, album, or audiobook is missing. All this is still on an iPod that is formatted with Windows, but that is the only place it is backed up. How can I restore the lost iTunes?

  • I lost the lan ethernet connection of an older windows 7 pc to my 3 Terabyte router when adding a new local printer to the pc. How do i set this up again so the PC is recognized and can get to the internet again through the time capsule?

I recently added a new printer to a 2005 vintage PC that is running windows 7. It used to go through a router in my wifes upstairs office to the time capsule by wired ethernet (cat5) but when I added her new local printer thought I would network it, big mistaked, lost all my ethernet connection and she cannot get to the internet. Wireless not an option. How do i set up again the ethernet connection and i will only USB the printer locally this time for the windows pc?
Tried windows diagnostics, and besides telling me to reset everything and turn router off and on etc. I am in an endless loop.
Other Mac products are not impacted by this issue.

  • Songs Lost From Phone When Syncing

I recently purchased 18 songs directly from my iPhone. I tried to transfer these songs to my computer but they were no longer on my phone. They just disappeared.
I've checked the FAQ's for lost songs and tried all the suggestions, but nothing has solved my problem.
I have also received and paid the bill for all the missing songs.

    Here is what happened:
My computer refused to let me buy the Beatle Boxed set for reason unknown as i usualy do not have any problem paying for anything on itunes, i supposed it was related to the heavy traffic apple was experiencing at this time of year. A few hours later while having my iPad at hand i decided to try again, this time successfully, the songs (200+) downloaded alright. I was able to play any of them the following day. Then i decided to transfer them back to the computer using the transfer my purchase menu.
I realised almost immediately something was wrong as iTunes reported only 105 songs being transfered. Afterwards the iPad synched which resulted in the files being deleted from the device. I checked both the library and harddrive, the files are really missing there is nothing.
I checked the tranfer purchase several times to no avail. So far the song are considered MIA...
As far as i know the song disapeared after the billing, since there was a day between the time i bought it on the iPad and the time i transfered them on the computer.
I contacted iTunes i hope to be able to download again the whole thing.

  • Lost calender & contacts when syncing

this is seriously bad and i can't get anyone at Apple to speak to me!! Here's what happened 16GB 3G i phone connected to desk top - used i tunes to sync info from phone to pc - sync took place and wiped all phone info from phone and retained nothing on pc!! The reverse happened to what i wanted, unbelievable as I specifically set it up to sync one way!! Is the info stored anywhere and can i get it back.My entire life was on the i phone and I have no back up at all.

How do you think you "specifically set it up to sync one way"? Was this the same computer you usually sync to? Reformatted hard drive?
What info was deleted? Calendar/contacts/bookmarks? Those sync both ways, but if an iPhone is connected to a different computer and that computer has no data on it, the iPhone will have it's data deleted. If you have at least one contact/event/bookmark on the new computer, you'll be prompted to merge the data.
Or was the iTunes media content (music/videos/etc.) deleted? The iPhone syncs that content only one-way, _from computer to iPhone_ and is designed to sync with one and only one computer. Connecting to a different computer will delete the content from the iPhone (you are warned first).

  • Lost one "face" when sync'd with iPhone and IPad?

I have about 20 "faces" but, mysteriously, one of them doesn't appear in "faces" view via my iPhone and iPad.
I've tried renaming the "face" in iPhoto and then resyncing but it still doesn't appear, whilst all the others appear fine.
It's rather odd - any ideas why this might be happening?
    Many thanks

  • ITunes crashes when syncing with iPad on Windows 7

    Hi there,
I have an iPad 64GB 3G that I sync with iTunes 10.0.1.22 on my Windows 7 machine. Typically no problems but I recently got a download error of a TV show I regularly download directly to my iPad.
For whatever reason the iPad can't download it - it tells me "Download error. Tap to retry." I've had this happen before and solved it by syncing with iTunes and removing the problematic episode via iTunes.
This time, however, when attempting to sync between the iPad and iTunes on connect, iTunes crashes, apparently (and probably not coincidentally) when attempting to sync my latest downloaded TV shows to iTunes.
The exact message in iTunes when this occurs is "Transferring purchases from 'ScottPad' (Step 3 of 6) Copying 1 of 12: The Daily Show 10/13/2010".
Windows then says that iTunes has stopped working, and provides the following problem details:
    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
    Application Name: iTunes.exe

I have plenty of space on the iPad (another issue I've run into before where syncing obviously didn't work) and the Windows 7 machine, and now I'm not sure what to do to sort this out because I can't remove the problem episode directly from the iPad (can I?) and iTunes crashes upon initial sync.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott.

No, those are not at all the symptoms I was describing and would not have helped solve the problem.
Turned out the latest upgrade of iTunes fixed what must have been a bug. Thanks for offering to help anyways!
    Case closed.

  • Error when syncing with iTunes and Windows 7 64Bit(AMD)

    I keep getting this error:
Attempting to copy to the disk " Your Name Here's IPhone" failed. The Device timed out...
It works fine on my Netbook ( Wind 7 32 Bit)
I am sure someone has this issue...
I tried running in XP mode, Shut off my Pass lock, Uninstall and reinstall Drivers, Using USB2.0...
Any thoughts on this ( and I do not want to hear Use your netbook) LOL
    Thanks
    mike

There are known issue with 64bit Win 7 and syncing...the best fix is to update the BIOS of the machine you're on and that helped most issues...highest issue reported was for people using a Gigabyte Motherboard and Win 7...
That's why it works on 32bit Win 7...something in the MB that communicates with synced devices doesn't like iPhone and the BIOS update is needed to address this until Microsoft releases a cover all fix.

  • What will happen to iPod 5G's info when I do a fresh Windows install?

Title basically says it all. I've been using my iPod Video as a storage device as well as for music, and I'm going to do a clean install of Windows XP in the near future-my CD/DVD drive has somehow failed to respond (code 41), so reinstalling Windows to factory settings should do the trick. Only problem I can foresee is what will happen to all the data on my iPod when I reinstall the CD software for iTunes and my iPod drivers-will all the data on my iPod disappear when I reconnect it to my laptop for the first time?
Just wondering if anyone's done this before, as I'll assume it's a typical topic.

When the iPod is connected to the PC after reinstalling Windows, a message will appear asking you if you want to change the computer the iPod is associated with will appear if iTunes is installed; pressing Erase & Sync on this dialog box will delete all content on the iPod that was synced from iTunes. Content copied to the iPod outside of iTunes will not be erased by iTunes unless you explicitly restore the iPod.
