Lost my LAN connections, still have wi-fi

I was gone for a week on vacation, and I know the power went out during some storms. I thought everything was ok because my wireless connection to my MacBookPro and iPhones was working fine. But then I noticed that my TiVo and other stuff that I had connected to the LAN ports weren't connected.
I have my cable modem (Arris) from Time Warner Cable that has my digital phone and internet connected to the Airport Extreme, then the 3 LAN ports are connected to TiVo and a Control4 home automation controller.
I've reset the AEX a couple of times, unplugged it, unplugged the cable modem, etc...When the AEX comes on, all the LAN green lights flash on and then go off. I was able to plug the MacBookPro into one of the LAN ports and get it working through LAN for a minute by fiddling with the Airport settings, but I'm not even sure what I did and I haven't been able to get all 3 working. But the wireless works just fine.
I'm fairly sure that nothing's broken, just not doing something in the correct order to get those other ports working. Any ideas?

A couple of years ago, a brownout (and power surge) damaged an Airport Extreme and two Airport Expresses on our network. Without notice, they started failing some of the time, but not all of the time (randomly dropping connections). This issue was very difficult to trouble shoot (it took a couple of months to do this, and one of the units went out of warranty during this time period). When connected to an Apple Store network at the local Genius Bar, they didn't work at all, and so Apple replaced all three, even though one was out of warranty. Kudos to a great company for taking care of the problem, but it's important to note that I also had called tech support just before the warranty expired and documented this problem.
Unfortunately, when I reinstalled the replacements on the home office network, they still didn't work. with more help from AppleCare telephone tech support out, we determined that all three 10/100 switches on the network also had been damaged in the surge, though not the cable modem. I took the opportunity to upgrade the switches to gigabit ethernet models and later to "n" Airports.
Troubleshooting network problems can be a challenge, and it requires thorough, organized testing. Good luck.

    You should be able to:
    Backup the device to the new installation
    Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
    Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
    Restore the device from the backup
    This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
    May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
    When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

    Or you can use third-party software like Phone to PC to transfer your music.

    If they are the same nef files that you were importing into your PC, see if the reason is an error message like the thread above this one. Permissions issue.

    I had to go into settings, into iCloud and turn on contacts backed up to iClouds. Never had that on before but immediately 90% of names and other info came back. Still have some names not showing up, but not many.

    My old mac hard drive died taking the music with it. I have a very special playlist made from that music but I don't remember what tracks were on it. The playlist still exists on my iphone and as I re-add songs to my computer, then to my phone they go right the old playlist on my phone so I know there is a memory of these tracks SOMEWHERE, I just need to figure it out.     Only FCP X is downloadable. Everything up to Final Cut Studio requires install disks.  You might try calling  Apple, but the software you seek is over a decade old.

  • Lost Multiple Features, but Still Have Premium?

    Beginning today I have experienced several debilitating issues to my spotify account... First and foremost, on my spotify mobile app on my Android devce ALL of my 'Songs' are now gone exepct for a random 2 songs. This was noticed this morning around approximately 10:00 EST. I had been at work in my office listening to my 'Songs' on shuffle between approximately 7:15 and 8:30. At which point I switched over to my desktop version on my work computer and began listening there, still without any issue. At approximately 10-10:30 I needed to go grab a few files in our library so I brought my phone to switch over and listen from there while I was looking for the files. It was at this point that I realized 2 Steely Dan songs and been altenating back and forth about 2 times. I opened the app to see if a random search had been left open in my 'Songs', but it was not. I had logged in and out seveal times, but that did not fix the issue. All of my playlists were still intact, and still downloaded, but my 'Songs' was completely cleared out.It was not until I got home this evening, unistalled the app, and reinstalled it, until the issue was resolved. To add to my frustration even more! When I just opened up the desktop version on my laptop a blue notification bar displayed at he top stating that 'This devices offline playing had been disabled' or something along those lines... given that I am frequently in areas with no wifi access this was incredible frustrating. I logged online to view my devices with offline access and my laptop was stated as 1 o the 3 devices registered for such. However, when logging into spotify desktop, and going into preferences the offline option is no longer there... I am incredible unhappy with these short-comings today, especially since my subscription just renewed 2 days ago. This just adds to the slew of other issues hat spotify has been giving me along with the search feature on the desktop that everyone misses, and more recently a very poor random shuffle coding that has been plaguing me. It seems as though out of my 2800 songs in my library i only hear approximately 100 of them on shuffle throughout the day because I notice an incredible amount of repeats..... I understand that this could be broken up and posted in several different help rooms, but I'm hoping that its just a random bug that's affecting my account...  PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP!

  • I lost my laptop but still have my synced phone. how do i get the new laptop to sync? i cant find any options on the phone to display the recovery key

    the faq says to click options and tgen click sync option. i have a moto atrix and it seems it doesnt have those options, i can see that its currently synced but there are no options for recovery or add a device. i have passwords stored in sync that i do not know, is there some way to recover these from another pc? or maybe get a recovery code emailed to me?

  • HT6065 after i downloaded OS X i have not been able to open any of my apps can any one help. i also lost my photos. i still have photos on my iPhone. also my apps show up on iTunes

    After upgrading to Mavericks OS X v 10.9.1 I see all my apps in itune but i can not open any.
    I only got part of my I photos over not all. 
    My I phone I have all photos and all Apps no problem
    What do i need to do on my mac to 1. get all photos and 2. open all my apps.

    Hi, I recently purchased a new Macbook. My last one had the Adobe Photoshop CS5 Photoshop installed on it that I purchased and recently failed on me. I moved to a new state for graduate school and left many of my things back home, including the Photoshop CS5 disc. I have the serial code on me, but I need to install the program again, and fast. How can I do this without the disc?

    I have both WiFi and LAN connections to my HH3 for different computers
    The LAN connection is always fine - good speed, no drop-outs, etc
    The WiFi connection however is a nightmare.  It works for a few hours and then the computer drops the internet connection.
    It is not the WiFi connection to the HH3 as I can still get to the HH3 web page but any internet address gets a "DNS not found" error.
    In this state, the LAN connection still works fine.  I can browse the Internet fine just not from a WiFi connection.
    The only solution is to reset the HH3 fully (a disconnect/reconnect of the internet connection doesn't help)
    Any ideas?

    Hi there,
    It sounds like you need to change the wireless channel on your HH3.
    If you're on Windows then you're going to need inssider 2 or if you're using a Mac, then you'll need to download istumbler
    Download whichever one of those is appropriate to your OS and do a scan for wireless networks close to you and you will be able to see which networks are operating on which channels and change to a less congested channel, if need be
