    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are referring to the first generation Apple TV, then you cannot sync content which is stored on its hard drive back to iTunes.

i lost my macbook pro and i just got a new one. how can i retrieve the pictures taken with photo booth(old laptop) to my new laptop?

Well if you don't have the laptop to get the storage drive out of it, and you don't have any previous backups how do you expect to get the photo's?
PhotoBooth is just a program, it stores the files on the computers storage drive, if the computer is lost so are your photo's.
There is nothing you can do to delete or retrieve them using your new computer unless you stored them online someplace.
DId you save them online? iDisk or something else?
I don't use such services because my data is mine and not theirs to snoop through, so if your looking for that sort of help I can't assist you any.

Ask for the receipt or the date from the person who purchased it.

If you're running Mountain Lion (which I'm assuming you are if your MBP is new) you can set up Find My Mac under System Preferences>iCloud. You can also use a free online service such as Prey.
No guarantee to keep your MBP from being stolen, but at least you can find it if it's on (and if the criminals aren't Mac experts).

  • Migration Assistant - Problems copying 2009 MacBook Pro data to new MacBook Pro

Purchased new MacBook Pro and tried to copy old MacBook Pro (circa 2009) data to new one using migration assistant.  It stalled after about 20 hours via wireless.  My question is how can I restore the new machine to factory settings and start over?  Or is there a better way to copy the remaining files/applications?  Please note that I've tried to run migration assistant again and it keeps exiting to login screen on the new MacBook Pro - after connection is made.

How much RAM does it have?
In spite of what Apple says, 4GB is not practically adequate with the new 64-bit systems (Lion and successors). All MBPs from Early 2011 forward, with user-installable RAM SO-DIMMs, can take up to 16GB with no problems and with greatly enhanced performance.
And if you still persist in running the systems with 4GB, make sure there's ample paging space on the HDD.

  • Macbook Pro date setting problem

I have a macbook pro running 10.6. Today, twice, the computer told me that my date and time were set to 2008. I was able to reset it, but I'm afraid it ill do it again. What would cause it to suddenly lose the date and time settings? And what should I do about it?

did you do a clean install of the OS when you got the machine?
I would try that and run the benchmark test again...

  • MacBook Pro Data Transfer

My MacBook Pro will not boot up and before I send it away to be fixed, I would like to do a data transfer to another computer. I would prefer not to have to pay for someone else to the data transfer so I would like to attempt it myself. Can I just use a SATA to USB cable converter to do transfer the files to another computer or is there something special that I have to use for a Mac?
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I'm going to pay for the repair; other than this recent hiccup with the logic board, the computer still works completely fine. When I bought my newer MBP, I gave the now-broken one to my parents and it still fulfills their needs.
I was trying to do the data transfer myself because, honestly, I did not want to spend the money to pay Apple to do it. The guy at the Genius Bar made it sound like it was pretty simple. However, if you think that it is not for amatuers, I will check out having a professional do it.
I thought about doing the HD swap but the price of another drive is about the price of just having Apple do the transfer completely. I thought about using the current HD as another external HD but I have quite a few of those already.

  • How do I access on my MacBook Pro data from my iMac stored on Lacie external hard drive.

i am attempting to use my MacBook Pro with the files and data from my iMac which is in the shop. On my iMac I backup regularly with Time Machine to my LaCie external hard drive. When I open my Lacie to my laptop the only data I see is from the laptop--I can't find the iMac data. I tried getting in via Time Machine--same problem. I tried searching through Finder--same problem. I tried logging into my laptop as the other user--same problem. both macs have latest operating system. Both are seriously souped up with plenty of storage and memory.

Connect the LaCie HDD to the MBP.  Click on the icon.  Is there a folder with the title Backups.backupdb?  That is where the Time machine data is stored.
    Ciao.

  • How can I back up all of my macbook pro data to my USB if time machine is not functioning properly?

I attempted to back up my data from my macbook pro to my USB entirely through time machine.  The first half hour was successful until It told me the backup was not able to happen and it completely stopped working from that point on.   Is there any suggestions or other things I can do?  I do not mind reformatting the USB or erasing everything from it, but I am not sure how to do that on the mac either.
    Thanks again

make sure time machine is turned off in system preferences. (it won't let you erase the disk if time machine is still trying to access it)
open the disk utility from in your user account utilities, make sure you are in the erase tab and also make sure you have the whole HD selected (not the section for backups that may be indented under it) also make sure the disk is mounted (there is option at the top of the disk utility toolbar to mount the disk if necessary.
once you have done both of these, make sure that next to format it says mac OS extended journaled and then click the button that just says erase.
after it's done you should then be able to go into system prefs and turn the time machine back on and select the disk to start the backups again.
if it still won't let you erase or do anything w/ the external drive after these steps there may be issue w/ the HD itself that needs addressed

  • Spilled water on MacBook Pro, data/Hard Drive question.

I spilled water on my MacBook Pro while it was on, and I am pretty sure it is fried now, but I am letting it dry first.  If worst comes to worst, is there a way to still check if the data on the hard drive is still salvageable and can be removed and stored into an external hard drive, or if the hard drive can be removed and replaced in a different MacBook Pro completely?  I know Genius Bar more than likely wont be of any help since the latest backup does not include nearly enough of the files I am trying to recover.  Any suggestions or knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

f worst comes to worst, is there a way to still check if the data on the hard drive is still salvageable
A hard drive is completely water-tight, so the data should be just fine. However, if the water fried the control circuits on the hard drive, then you've got some significant problems to deal with in accessing that data. You can remove the hard drive, assuming the computer is non-functional once dry, and put it in an external enclosure, then try to read it on another Mac. If that doesn't work, assuming the enclosure is a good one and the job of installing the drive in it was done correctly (it's actually kind of hard, but still undoubtedly possible, to mess that up in most cases), the control circuits are fried.
In the event that the drive can't be used any more, your only remaining option will be to pay an expensive data recovery service, like DriveSavers, to open up the drive and read the data directly off the platters inside. That should work fine in your case, but understand that there are no guarantees, despite the high price tag.
Of course, all this is off the table if your laptop actually has an SSD and not a hard drive. An SSD could be fried just like any other electronic components, and I'm not sure there would be any option for recovering your data in such an event.

  • How do I retrieve the MacBook Pro data that I backed up on an external hard drive

I was good and always backed everything from my MacBook Pro on an external hard drive.  So, now that I've sold my MacBook Pro, how can I retrieve documents and pictures that are stored on it?

    Hello Achaemenid,
Thank you for the question.  If you used Time Machine to back up your MacBook Pro, you can restore the backup to a new Mac using the steps in the section titled "Restoring data from Time Machine backups > Restoring your entire system from a backup > Migrating a Time Machine backup to a new Mac" in the following article:
