    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are referring to the first generation Apple TV, then you cannot sync content which is stored on its hard drive back to iTunes.

If you're running Mountain Lion (which I'm assuming you are if your MBP is new) you can set up Find My Mac under System Preferences>iCloud. You can also use a free online service such as Prey.
No guarantee to keep your MBP from being stolen, but at least you can find it if it's on (and if the criminals aren't Mac experts).

  • I lost my macbook pro and i just got a new one. how can i retrieve the pictures taken with photo booth(old laptop) to my new laptop?

i lost my macbook pro and i just got a new one. how can i retrieve the pictures taken with photo booth(old laptop) to my new laptop?

Well if you don't have the laptop to get the storage drive out of it, and you don't have any previous backups how do you expect to get the photo's?
PhotoBooth is just a program, it stores the files on the computers storage drive, if the computer is lost so are your photo's.
There is nothing you can do to delete or retrieve them using your new computer unless you stored them online someplace.
DId you save them online? iDisk or something else?
I don't use such services because my data is mine and not theirs to snoop through, so if your looking for that sort of help I can't assist you any.

  • Internet connection lost on Macbook Pro when PCs are connected.

Recently I running into very annoying problem, here it is:
I am using comcast cable internet, connected to Airport Extreme (802n) wan port via ethernet, I got 3 computers are using the same wireless network: one Macbook Pro and two PCs. If both PCs are off, I have no connection problems on Macbook Pro, but if either one of the PCs are on, the browsers on my Macbook Pro can't connect to internet, however, I can still receive emails on Macbook Pro. By the way, airport extreme are set to DHCP, all computers share one IP address. Airport extreme with most recent firmware 7.3.2 installed.
Any help are welcome and thank you in advance.

ddg57, Welcome to the discussion area!
By the way, airport extreme are set to DHCP, all computers share one IP address.
Each computer should have their own separate IP addresses. So I'm hoping that your statement above means:
    (1) The AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) uses DHCP to get an IP address from the ISP.
    (2) The AEBS is configured to share a single IP address (not bridging).
    (3) The computers are configured to get an IP address via DHCP (via wireless).

  • Wireless connection lost after macbook pro sleeps for more than 15 minutes

It's annoying. I have a brand new macbookpro 3.06Ghz 17" hi-res screen running OS-X 10.6.3 and the wireless connection keeps dropping after the computer is either turned off or sleeping for more than 15 minutes.
My router is a linksys wireless G, has dd-wrt software in it which is very powerful. When I release or renew the DHCP at the router, the mackbook connects to the wireless network, no problem.
What configuration can be done at the macbook as to not have it time-out airport wireless connections unless I renew/release DHCP at the router? This is an annoyance beyond the limits of anyone's patience.... Thanks in advance for any help!

Well, since nobody answered this post I decided to try a bunch of things and I believe I came to a solution:
1 - Make airport the first connection under System Preferences->Network
2 - In the advanced window:
    - Under AirPort: Keep only one network name on the list (the one you use all the time)
    - Select 'remember networks this computer has joined' and deselect all other boxes
    - Take note of the Airport ID (xx:xx:xx:xx:xx) and put it in your router's MAC address list. I do this because I only allow connections to my router from mac IDs that are on the list I create. In my case, I have my macbook pro and my PS3 system. If you don't know how to edit the MAC list in your router, do some research. It's pretty easy.
    - Under TCP/IP: Select "Using DHCP" on the IPv4 drop box
    - Select "Off" for IPV6 drop box
    - Under DNS, after you connect at least once, you should see (grayed out) your router's IP address on the left box and the domain on the right side box.
Finally, under "Ethernet" you should see your Mac address there, the configure option should be set to Automatically and MTU as standard (1500).
Press OK and then press "Apply" and lock that screen by clicking on the padlock at the bottom left. BTW on the top of this screen Location should be "Automatic" - if not, select it and apply.
Done! Your wireless should connect quickly after the computer is turned on or waken up from sleep state. This assumes you configured your router correctly (mac addresses, frequencies, etc).
Good Luck to all who try this - at least I have not have any more dropped wireless connections.

  • Film Student lost between MacBook Pro or Mac Pro.

I currently own a 1.33G4 12" iBook and need to get a new Mac. I use a lot of Final Cut, and am going to start moving into some photoshop and music apps as well. I do not know whether I should get a 15" MacBook Pro or a MacPro and just keep my iBook for lugging around. I have a 19" widescreen monitor that I use with my iBook, so a monitor is not a problem. Basically I would like to hear what people think I should buy. Money is not a huge issue, I can not afford either system and would have to take out a loan. I am concerned about having to buy another mac a few years down, I want to be able to keep this next mac for a long time. So what do you guys think?? Any help/suggestions welcome. Oh, and some may suggest getting a used G5, which I was considering, but I want an intel chip so I can use parallels.

There are several things to consider if you truly want to be set for a few years. If you never consider travelling to a site to do some videography and editing, then go with a MacPro tower. It is infinitely more upgradeable, and will allow for easy upgrading, and upgrading your hard drive storage. You can also change your DVD burner as needed. Your speed with a MacPro tower will be a bit faster than a MacBook Pro.
On the other hand, you will find that the MBP is a great platform to be on the go so to speak with your ability to travel, film, and then edit your video. I use a MBP 2.33 17 inch laptop now. I have found it to be about as fast a G5 dual processor 2.7 gHz mac. I have found that Final Cut Studio 5.1.2 works very well on the MBP.
Keep in mind that there are several things that are always going to be essentials in video editing. Screen real estate is great to have. You can extend your desktop using the 17 inch laptop screen with the 19 inch monitor that you already own. The other thing that you will need is hard drive storage space. In this aspect, the 17 inch MBP ships with a stock 160 gb harddrive, which is small in comparison to desktop systems. You do have a firewire 800 chain in the MBP. You will find that you would want to purchase an expresscard 34 firewire expansion card, and additional hard drives. The firewire speed on the MBP is adequate for standard DV25, Sony's HDV format, or DVCAM. If you want to do other HD projects then you would be better suited to go with the Mac Pro tower.
As for a used G5 tower, that is another possibility. I did a ton of work with my G5's. You can find them at a fairly reasonable cost, but keep in mind that as software is upgraded, you may find that you lag. What matters the most though, is the end result, and if you learn the software well, you can get some stellar results regardless of the way you go. Good luck.

  • I've lost my macbook pro mid 2010 optical drive ribbon cable. What do I do now?

I had kept it somewhere as my SSD bracket was about to arrive. But I lost it as I was moving out of my apartment

The cables are not that expensive at an Apple store and it will be replaced for you as well.  Consider that option.
    Ciao.

  • Track my lost macbook pro

    Hi There
I am currently living in Durban, South Africa and I lost my MacBook Pro last week. They broke into my car and stole it. Is there a way to track the laptop with my serial number? Kindly advise asap. All my work and clients work on it.

Unless you had Find My Mac or similar turned on/activated BEFORE your Mac was lost/stolen, there is no way to track it now. Change all of your passwords, report the loss to your insurance company & police.
Apple does not maintain a database of lost/stolen Apple products.
