Lost my music after iTunes sync

iPhone 6 - 128gb iOS 8.2
iTunes 12.1.0.50
MacPro 2009 - OSX 10.10.2
Yesterday, i plugged in my iPhone to my computer to add some new music that I purchased (though bandcamp, not iTunes, added manually to iTunes after download). My iPhone is setup to backup automatically to iCloud and set to sync automatically when connected. I have "Manually manage music and videos" checked as my music collection is too big to fit on my iPhone and I don't want my entire collection on there anyways. As per usual, I dragged the new albums from my music collection to the iPhone. After that was completed, I left for work, only to notice that I only had the new albums that I just added, plus a few random albums, which mostly look like they were purchased from iTunes. In total, I had 96 tracks of music on my iPhone, when I previously had over 6000. Today, I plugged my iPhone back into my computer, In the iPhone summary page, the indicator bar at the bottom still says have 45gb of music on my iPhone, and when I click on the Music tab under "On My Device" all the songs and playlists are there, not greyed out, with not sync icon beside them or exclamation mark. They look as normal as if there were on my iPhone. When I go to the settings on my iPhone, it indicates that i only have those 96 tracks. I deleted all the music from my iPhone, but I can't sync what iTunes says it already on my iPhone. ***?
I've done some searching online, but I can't find anyone that has had this exact same problem with same setup. I've read about the duplicate song problem, but that doesn't look like the problem. I really don't want to sit here and have to go through my entire music collection again and drag over the albums that I want.

You're not alone - many reports of the same issue - just spread across many threads.  I keep checking in hopeful someone found a solution.

  • When i sync my iphone 3gs, my itunes hangs up after itunes sync the apps, so i can't pup music on my divice

When i sync my iphone 3gs, my iTunes hangs up after iTunes sync the apps, so i can't put music or videos etc. on my divice...
    Why is that so

Check the General -> Restrictions settings and see if perhaps the iTunes app is turned off there. If not, the app may have been inadvertently moved to another home screen or dropped into a folder. Do a search for the app or try resetting the Home screen layout: Choose General > Reset, then tap Reset Home Screen Layout.
    Regards.

  • I lost all music after an update on itouch, how do i restore

lost all music after update , how do you restore it?

You can go to iTunes, and download any music tracks for free if you have already downloading them. Same goes for apps, go to the App Store on your iPod, Updates, and then Purchased. From there, download anything for free (that you purchased before). All app progress will be saved too.
OR, if you have a reliable backup, you can restore from that.

i had a problem with my iphone and had to restore and now i have lost all music from itunes any way to get it back ?

It should ne in itunes on your computer and included in your regular backup of your computer.
If for some reason you have failed to backup your music, then - in the U.S only - you can get previous itunes purchases from the beta version of icloud.  Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links.

    Open System Preferences > iCloud

Did you confirm that you have checked Sync Music on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings?

  • My iPad 2 lost all its music after normal sync How do i fix it?

my ipad 2 lost all its music after a normal sync. how do i fix it?

The first thing I'd do is check to be sure iTunes still has the music in it, assuming you bought the music through iTunes. If not, are you sure that the account you bought the music under on the iPad is the same account iTunes connects to the iTunes store with?

Is all your music in iTunes on your computer? If so with your device plugged in make sure the sync music box is checked.

  • Lost my music after reinstalling windows

    Hi all.
So the problem i got was that i decided to reinstall my windows by making a fresh reinstallation and so i made sure that i backed everything up even my itunes library onto a flash drive.
After the reinstallation, i put it all back into my computer as well as the music by selecting it and dragging straight into itunes. I then erased it from my flash drive thinking i had nothing to worry about. Today i tried to play music and my itunes tells me that it cannot locate the songs, which is 100% bs because i personally saw to it that it all got into the library, but now it seems that i have lost my whole library of music since i deleted it all.
At this point i am dissapointed and angry at itunes for this inconveinence that they have put unto me.
In my opinion, itunes has come a long way, but now that i just lost all that i had, i have lost all interest with itunes.

Did you confirm that you have checked Sync Music on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings?

  • Email Deletes After iTunes Sync, WHY!!?? 3GS OS 3.1.3

Why does my email in my POP3 account inbox delete after/during sync with iTunes?

It shouldn't. Email account mailboxes and messages are not included with the iTunes sync process.
Do you have the email account selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes to transfer the email account settings from your computer to your iPhone? If so, this only needs to be done once and can be deselected after the email account settings are successfully transferred to your iPhone.
If selected, deselect this followed by selecting apply to see if this makes any difference.

  • Changes made to music in iTunes synced to iCloud?

If I make changes to music in iTunes (e.g., changing the artist's name, adding album name, etc), how do I get these changes to be reflected on iCloud?  Do I need to rematch?  If so, will the outdated match on iCloud be deleted?

They would only be reflected automatically if you have subscribed to iTunes Match.  Otherwise, you would have to sync with iTunes for the changes to be transfered to your devices.

  • Black nano freezes after itunes sync

    Already did update to 1.1.1.
After i sync nano to itunes, i unplug the nano and play a podcast. It always freezes before the podcast starts to play. I always have to do a manual reboot. Then afterwards works normally until the next time i sync.
Anyone have this problem as well??

    I experienced the same symptom.
In my case, every night downloading podcast of CNN News, and NPR news. and when I try to listen it in the morning.
Every morning iPod nano 8GB black freeze, just trying to push PODCAST PLAYing button.
So, I asked to change to new iPod nano 8GB Black at the shop.
but even though after changing it to new one, I couldn't fixed it.
So I tried to find out the bypass way, and finally found it.
I hope it will be helpful for this case, too.
    Please refer the following subject.

  • Recover iMessages after iTunes sync

I have been having major battery issues ever since getting the 5s. I've restored a couple of times from iCloud, but it hasn't worked. Apple has said they can see a lot of crashing apps in the diagnostics report (about 30). The tech suggested I wipe it out and do a sync with iTunes instead of a restore, but apparently I would lose all of my iMessages. He said there are 3rd party apps to recover that. Anyone have experience with recovering iMessages after an iTunes sync? Any recommendations on what software to use for that? I'm assuming I would also lose any other data I have on my phone - like in Viber, Whatsapp, etc, is there any way to recover other data as well? Will I lose all of my settings this way too? I've come to depend on the iCloud backup and disappointed that I can't use it and have a stable phone.

    It gets easier still:
    1) Connect your Nano to you computer
    2) Wait for iTunes to come up.
    3) Click your Nano on the left and view the summary tab.
    4) Click the "Configure Universal Access" button.
    5) In the pop up window, uncheck VoiceOver
