Lost my music because I changed my Apple ID... Please help me!

I change my Apple ID to match it up with the rest of my online personas occasionally, and found out today that I have lost music that I paid for! I can't play these songs anymore because it tells me I need to authorize this computer. I can't, the Apple ID I bought the song with doesn't exist! I tried using my old name and password, but it says the name doesn't exist.
This is ridiculous, I paid for these songs! Isn't there some way I can still play them... maybe it should be MUCH more clear that changing your Apple ID is a terrible idea!
Any help would be much appreciated.
