Lost my photos from my iPhone

Help I seem to have lost my photos off my iPhone. I had an iPhone 4 and then upgraded to iPhone 4S but was able to keep my phones from iPhone 4 but it shows up as "Photos" in my 4S and any new photos I took on my new phone was saved in camera roll. I synced to iTunes on my mac and it has deleted from my iPhone all photos saved in "photos" but kept all in camera roll. How can I get back my photos lost?! Somebody help as these old photos are very precious to me.

Hi deekswife,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
If you want to view Photo Stream photos on a Windows computer you will first need the iCloud Control Panel installed. Once installed, there will be an iCloud Photos location selected on your computer. Please review the following article as a reference.
iCloud: Set up My Photo Stream
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13693
On a Windows computer
Install the iCloud Control Panel if it isn’t already installed on your computer.
Open the iCloud Control Panel, then turn on Photos. My Photo Stream is set up by default. To turn it off, click Options, then turn off My Photo Stream.
To change the iCloud Photos location on your computer, click Options. Click Change to choose a folder, then click OK.
Click Apply.
I hope this helps,
-Joe

  • I accidentally lost my photos from my iphone as I was trying to sync into my mac.  I accidentally clicked restore.  Any suggestions on how I can get my photos back?

    Hello,
I accidentally clicked restore when I was trying to sync my photos from my iphone to my mac computer.  I lost them all and it made me sick.  Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how I might be able to retrieve them? I was up until 4am trying to figure this out.
    Thanks!!!
    Kelly

If you restored the iPhone then the photos are gone. Sorry.
Next time you take photos on your iPhone, transfer them to your Mac as soon as it's convenient.

I need to download all of my photos from my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 to my MacBook Air because there is no more storage space available. I want to make sure all my photos are not lost and that they do not return to the original devices because of the cloud. Can someone please help ?

Connect your devices to the computer with the USB cable (one device at a time) and import the photos via iPhoto or Image Capture.
If you have not changed any default settings on your computer, iPhoto will automatically launch when you plug in the device. Then follow the import prompts.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

If Windows - and it has iTunes installed - you should see an Autoplay explorer when you connect your iPhone - this should let you see the pictures and transfer them back to your computer
Wrong. That only works for pictures in the Camera Roll, not those in the Photo Album app.

  • How do I recover a deleted photo from my iphone

how do I recover a deleted photo from my iphone?

The iPhone Photo Recovery allows you to recover data by two ways: Recover from iOS devices and recover from iTunes backup. No matter which way you choose, the first step is to download and install the software on your computer. Then follow the way below to get back your data.
Part 1: Directly recover photo from iPhone 5/4S, iPad mini, iPad with Retina display, The New iPad, iPad 2 & iPod touch 5
article: How to recover deleted photos from iPhone.
Part 2: Recover Data Directly from iPhone 4/3GS, iPad 1 & iPod touch 4
Part 3: Extract iTunes Backup to Recover Previous Data for All iOS Devices
This data recovery mode lets you recover not only existing data in the backup, but also those data deleted from your device before you made the backup, as long as they were not overwritten.
Note: Don't sync your device with iTunes when you realize that you've lost data, or the iTunes backup file will be updated after the sync, if you want to recover them through this recovery mode.

  • How can I transfer photos from an IPhone 5 to an IPad 2 using a cable.  I have tried using the lightning to firewire adapter with my current lead but this only seems to allow a download from the Ipad to the Iphone and not the other way around.

The devices are not designed for transfer of that kind.  Use Photo Stream as suggested by another poster, or transfer photos to your computer (a good idea anyway since they will be lost if your device needs to be reset), then use iTunes to sync them to the other devices.

  • I transferred some photos from my iPhone onto iPhoto and then the remaining, untransferred photos on my iPhone were deleted? Help!

Hi, everyone! I don't know if this question has been answered, but I recently lost my photos on my iPhone.
My iPhone memory was full, so I decided to transfer some of the photos on my iPhone onto iPhoto to clear up some space. (In hindsight, I probably should have transferred all of the photos AND I should have backed up my photos on iTunes regularly). Anyway, after transferring some of the photos, I selected the "delete imported photos" option on iPhoto. After unplugging my iPhone from my laptop, my Camera Roll looked like this:
There were only about 5 photos left and these odd video icons that were inaccessible. I was only able to transfer photos from January to March 2013. I'm missing all of my photos from March to December 2013. I also checked the amount of space I had left on my iPhone, and the amount of free space I have now is a few gigabytes more than I had before the photos went missing, so I'm guessing my photos were deleted.
I tried to look for a solution online, and I didn't really find any threads that talked about this specific problem, but I tried the suggestion of one article (albeit the article wasn't exactly about this problem) to delete these three files from my PhotoData. It made the inaccessible video icons disappear, but my photos are still nowhere to be found.
Does anyone know why this could have happened or how I can retrieve my photos? Has anyone encountered this before and has found a solution? I would really like to retrieve my missing photos. Thank you!

probably a question for the iPhone forum  since restoring photos on the iPhone does not involve iPhoto at all

The next step is to repair your main library: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How can I recover photos from old iphone icloud backup to new one?

Hello, I had an iPhone 4 which I lost and inside there were some great photos that I want now to recover. In the meanwhile I bought an iPhone5S and I just realized that inside the iCloud backup menu is saying that there is a backup of 3GB of my old iPhone. How can I see if in that backup the photos are there? I have connected my iPhoto App to iCloud but it only finds photos from my new iPhone and not the old one...
    Thanks for your time.

Hi, Tiago, maybe you can get help from data recovery software. Now things get easy now.
As far as I know, there are three ways to recover deleted contacts and photos from iPhone 5 with iPhone Data Recovery.
Way 1: Recover deleted photos from iPhone directly
Way 2: Using iTunes Backup to recover deleted photos
Way 3: Using iCloud Backup to recover deleted photos
You can refer the way 3 of how to recover deleted photos from iPhone to recover photos from  old iPhone iCloud backup.
    Good luck to you.

  • When i imported photos from my iphone to iphoto they show as a box with a dotted outline

I uploaded photos from my iphone to iphoto.  The event boxes say no photos.  But in last import, they are all there as white line outlined boxes.  I can see them when I scroll but not when I stop.  If I click on one I get a triangle with an exclamation point.

That's an indication that iPhoto has broken the link/file path to the original file. make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.

  • Is it possible to delete the original photos from my iphone if i have uploaded them into the icloud?

Is it possible to delete the original photos from my iphone if i have uploaded them into the icloud?
Or are they then completely lost?

Yes.  iTunes will report that your photos are now being accessed from iCloud Photo Library and will no longer sync photo and videos from your computer.  If you have a Mac, you'll want to avoid enabling it until OS X Yosemite in introduced along with it's built-in photo app, which will have to ability to access iCloud Photo Library.  (Note: the Photos app may not be introduced concurrently with Yosemite, but is supposed to follow "early next year".)

  • Help Needed - I think we have lost our photos to the iphone

Our pc crashed yesterday and my fella had to reinstall all of the software which wiped off all of our photos of our 9 month old from the C drive. I was absolutely gutted until he said it's OK they're on my iphone we can get them back.
We don't seem to be able to transfer them back from the iphone to the pc. If they weren't originally taken on the iphone is this not possible?

There may be a 3rd party utility that provides for this but something you should be aware of, photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone are "optimized" as part of the iTunes sync/transfer process for viewing with the iPhone. The original resolution for these photos is permanently lost if you are able to transfer these photos from your iPhone to your computer.
Hindsight is 20/20, but this is one of the reasons why maintaining a backup of your important data is so very important. It isn't a matter of if but when your hard drive has a partial or complete failure since none last forever. It doesn't matter how new or old a computer or computer's hard drive is. This is important regardless the platform, but even more so with a Windows PC with constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns.
The iPhone is not designed for use as a backup device or media, and should not be considered as such.
Unless someone else here can recommend an available 3rd party utility for recovering these photos, try a Google search.

I recover my photos from an iphone 3gs destroyed?

If you did not transfer the photos to your computer or back them up to iCloud or some other online service before your iPhone was destroyed (if it is indeed completely nonfunctional), then those photos are, I'm sorry to say, lost forever.
