recently "lost" a purchased song, (Plus the accompanying artwork) from my i-tunes library, after upgrading my O.S. from windows XP to windows 7.
Is there any way to get the original song back, or, at least, re-purchase it?... I tried to do the latter, (It's still available in the itunes store) but, when I clicked on the buy link, I was informed that I had already bought it and was only given the option to, either, copy the link or send it to Facebook/Twitter
I also, inadvertently, deleted a couple of default playlists (Notably recently added) while attempting to get the song back.
Can someone out there, please, help me out. with the solution(s). (preferably step by step if possible, as I'm a bit of a Homer Simpson when it comes to this sort of thing) .. Doh!! :-(

Itunes has lost my purchase song list but all the albums are list as complete my albums. The ones i have purchased are tell me i have to buy them again. Not happy Itunes not Happy Apple.
How do i fix it or does apple have to fix it on there end?

If the single songs are no longer available in Itunes, that would also explain why you aren't able to see your purchases.
If the songs are on your phone you can transfer purchases to iTunes app on your computer.   You wouldn't be able to download them again though.

I lost all my music, especially the ones I actually care about like my purchased music. Is there any way I can get them back without paying again? I have the receipts, so I have proof of purchase.

  • Tried to sync new iPod and lost numerous purchased songs

The hard drive on my old 20GB iPod crashed and I finally replaced it today with a 30GB iPod video. I went to sync it with my computer, and I was making a new playlist, I noticed that some of the songs I had purchased back when I had my old iPod were gone. The majority of them are still around, but I lost probably 30-50 songs.
Anyone know why this happens or how to recover them? I am not particularly pleased with Apple right now (my first iPod lasted less than 18 months and the "Genius Bar" had no explanation for why the hard drive crashed and now this).

First, have you checked if there isnt some wierd authorization problem? Go to the Store tab in iTunes and reauthorize everything you use.
Also, something that has happened to me, is that for no particular reason several songs were dropped from my Purchased playlist. They were still in my music folder, they had just been deleted from the playlist.

  • I synched my iphone and lost some purchased songs and albums. what happened and how do i get them back?

just a minute ago i connected my iphone to itunes so that i could transfer some albums i've purchased recently. it started it's usual synching process and once it was finished i found i'd lost more than a few recently purchased albums. not sure why or anything but i want them back!! how do i do so? please help!!

You don't.  You buy one and only one download.  it is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use you backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • Lost Recently Purchased Songs

I recently cleared my library and was asked if I wish to keep recently purchased files (Keep Files) or clear those as well. I hit 'Keep Files' and the songs I recently purchased on no longer there. Please help on how I can retrieve these.
    Thank you

To deauthorize all computers associated with your account
If you find you have reached 5 authorizations, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen.
Click iTunes Store in the menu on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.

  • Lost my purchased songs on my IPOD nano but still in my library

I don't understand, one minute they were there and now 90 songs won't upload back to my ipod. I've tried everything. HELP

No that's not a problem at all. I just have to do it at home bc I am at work now and I don't have it with me or hooked up to this computer. But I do remember that it said I was not authorized to sync those songs. I have had my laptop checked out and there is nothing wrong with that. Anyways, I will get the exact message soon. Thanks

  • Lost Previously Purchased Songs when upgraded to iTunes 7.0.2.16

I upgraded to iTunes 7.0.2.16 and now when I sync my iPod I receive a message stating "Some of the items in the iTunes library, including ... were not copied to your iPod ... because you are not authorized to play them on this computer"
However, I purchased them from the iTunes Store, using an iTunes card and have had them on my iPod previously. But now, they have been removed from my iPod and I cannot get them to load back on. Same pc, same iPod, the only thing that has changed is the version of iTunes that I have loaded on my machine... The are still loaded on my hard drive of my pc.
    Please help!

I'm in serious need of help.
    Indeed.
To be honest I don't understand how you were able to hold on to even 2 of your purchased items.
Anyways, if the music is still on your iPod, here is a post you may find of interest.
If that's not applicable, Apple's policy is clear: iTS purchases can be downloaded only once. It is your responsibility to make back-ups.
That being said, at their discretion they have made one-time exceptions to this policy. You can ask for an exception by submitting the form at the bottom of this page:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/backup/
Good Luck! But whatever the response from Apple, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • How to Transfer Purchased Songs from iPod back to iTunes.

I lost some purchased songs in iTunes that are on my iPod. How do I do this? I see the place in iTunes to click to make this transfer but I'm not sure how to keep the iPod from syncing from the computer first and then it will match the computer and the songs will be lost on the iPod, too. I guess what I'm asking is how do I keep the iPod from automatically syncing to the computer the minute I put it in the dock? Is there a way to make syncing of songs manual?

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes Keyboard Shortcuts for OSX
Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual if you wish. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in the Summary tab then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod

  • HT4759 Why when I got my new computer now using windows 8. I lost all my playlists and my purchased song list. Im missing so much music....I downloaded Itunes onto the new computer, I logged into my account w/ my apple ID expecting all my stuff to be as i

My issue is just with itunes....not my ipod... Ive been afraid to plug my ipod in to charge it incase it automatically sincs with the Itunes I have now on my new computer since this itunes is empty of my purchased songs and self made playlists. I dont want my ipod erased! I just dont understand why I cant get someone on the phone with their support service with out a serial number?! Itunes does not have a serial number that I can find. I just want my account to be as it was on my old computer. I very much dont want to lose all my music

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • I lost all my purchased songs when my hard drive.  Can I get another copy from Apple?

I lost all my purchased songs when my hard drive.  Can I get another copy from Apple?

Quite possibly, at least assuming you are based in the US. Install the latest build of iTunes, sign into the iTunes Store and click the Purchased entry in the Quck Links panel. Here in the UK I only get tabs fro Apps and Books but, if I understand correctly, you should also get a tab for Music. Click on the Not in My Library button and you should be able to download your purchases again.

i have lost my iphone and i had a lot of purchased songs on it, is there a way to get them back ?

The good news, if you purchased the music in iTunes, it is linked to your apple id.  You can re-download the content at no additional charge (as long as it is still available in the iTunes store).

Yes, I got that. My question was "are you using the same iTunes account to access music purchased from the Store?" I think your answer is "yes".
    matthewfrommerseyside wrote:
But they are all on my ipod - can i not sync back to itunes?
iTunes is not designed to do that. However, this user tip from tt2 may help you recover your music from your iPod, although it's not a simple process: Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Ignore any references in the tip to iOS devices, the Classic does not use iOS. The tip has a list of software, including the TouchCopy referred to by tbirdvet that may assist you in recovering your music.
