Lost name from contacts still have number just no other information

Help. This moring all names, pictures and other info from my contacts. Still have numbers but don't know who they are.
I have an iPhone 5S and I have not done the iOS 7.0.6 update on it yet

I had to go into settings, into iCloud and turn on contacts backed up to iClouds. Never had that on before but immediately 90% of names and other info came back. Still have some names not showing up, but not many.

You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

Or you can use third-party software like Phone to PC to transfer your music.

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset (we are fellow users here on these forums).

BB Os v. 7.1 - Caller ID for incoming calls NOT displaying name from contacts (only displays phone number)

We realized since bbOS 7.1 update the bb lost the possibility to show the contact from address book associated to the callerID

The previous tread was messed up with similar messages related to devices with the new BB Os v10.
But as far as this seeems to be a Os related issue, there is no sense in mixing

Not sure how the area code rules apply in your area. When you call from your cell to a contact that has their name, does it show you their name when calling out and the call log also has their name. Go into the phone application, swipe down from the top and cehck your smart dialing features for country code, area code and National number length.

Caller ID for incoming calls NOT displaying name from contacts (only displays phone # on BB Z10)

on the Z10 Whenever I receive an incoming call, the caller ID only shows the phone #, even when I have that number matched to a contact in the phone, even the call log it show the number and not the name. How do I get the caller ID to recognize and display the appropriate contact name with the phone fro an incoming call? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Akhanbilal

Thank you Arsen but, as with everyone else : (1) When you get an in-coming call, it has no call log on the phone app call log that allows you do a thing under the sun except to touch the number of the last call, and when you do, it CALLS THEM BACK. (2) On every other BlackBerry I have owned, about 10 to-date, I simply selected the last in-coming call and had a button at the bottom of the screen to allow me to ADD TO CONTACTS. (3) This does NOT exist on the Z10, and there certainly is no "Click on number, little slider pops on the right, select add to contact." Instead it dials them. Frustrating other uses have described Arsen. Further, while on the topic : (4) None of this has anything to do with 10-digit national dialing plan or anything else on swipe finger down from top in Phone App, Arsen. (5) When you swipe Phone App down, you see SETTINGS. Then, there are 13 items. I have looked at all 13 items and see nothing as you describe to select, nor any instructions on what to set the SMART DIALING to when there are 3 area codes local for my city and country code shows +1. Further, while on topic here : (6) Visual Voice Mail has been turned-on and whatever visual voice mail is, never supported on any previous BlackBerry including my 9780 before this, I have it with T-Mobile and have it turned on on the BlackBerry Z10 and it too does not work. On the positive side, I do have a work-around for BlackBerry Z10 to 2013 Toyota entune. (7) I first took a vm msg .wav file of just hello (blank will not send) and saved it on BlackBerry Z10. The Toyota entune is LOOKING for a music and will LOCK-UP if none are found. By giving it this, it worked on my 2013 Toyota entune for the 1st time ever. Yeah ! It is a little frustrating every few minutes listening to myself say HELLO. But, hey no one really notices it with all the other stuff going on NAVIGATION, radio, cell phone calls, and all the computerized alerts on 2013 Toyota even without entune. (8) What I did now was to go into Navigation and remove SYNC with MUSIC. I accomplished that after pairing to Z10 to 2013 Toyota, by CANCELLING ALL CONNECTIONS leaving only the pairing itself. Then, you must choose some connections in the pairing section of SET-UP within Navigation itself. If you cannot even get to that point, try depressing on the Navigation Screen, INTERNET at which point it will allow you access to SET-UP when you see the message NO ENTUNE APP FOUND ON YOUR BlackBerry Z10. Red-headed step-child is what we all are. Have to help each other. Arsen I appeciate you helping all of us. Seems the list is about 20 who have voiced it here in this one thread. We voice it for the 200 million BlackBerry users worldwide, all left out in the cold despite a pretty cool Z10 product. Far better than iPhone 5. I chose phone and internet. Internet comes back no BLACKBERRY Z10 TOYOTA ENTUNE APP. But, at least now I don't have to hear the music HELLO and do not also have the BlackBerry Z10 LOCKED-UP with pop up message you have to say OK to 10 million times to clear and never can actually do a thing on the BlackBerry Z10 as a result. Cannot add an in-coming call to Contacts Z10. Cannot see name and number calling me, just the bloody number, no clue who is calling ridiculous. Removing name from contact list

There is a group to which I send a general e mail a few times a month. I have these contacts listed under a group name, so when I type in the group name under "To" all the names appear. There is one person who no longer wants to receive the group notices, and I have completely removed her name and contact information from my address book, but when I type the group name in my "To" box her name still appears. She has a "hotmail" account, as do several other members of my group. Is there anything else I can do, short of trying to remember to delete her name every time I send an e mail to this group?

When you get hold of one of those first line reps on the phone, it depends very much on just who happened to answer the call. Some of them are very good. Others not so much. The only reason I found out about the memory for the To: line is that another poster had asked about it and I contacted Plaxo about it. There was an exchange of emails and they explained how the thing works.
Do you see "Forget" to the right of the first 3 o 4 names when that list comes up? I had no idea what that was for. It is the automated sorting software that the mail program uses to determine what addresses you use most often when typing in a given letter/word combination into the To: field. It then ranks them in that order. If you want it to change you click on Forget and it should remove it from the spot in the list. At least that's what was explained to me. But when I first asked them about it they tried to tell me it was something to do with my browser, which it is not. So I sent them a screen shot of it and then they said "oh wait----yeah------that thingy", and then gave me the correct information.
They don't all know all the features of the mail program or address book.

Can't Forward Or Lookup Additional Names from Contacts to add names to Forward or Reply emails

Some setting is off that I can no longer forward emails. I can reply and reply to all - but I can't look up additional names to add to the reply either. Even if I type the full email address in the forward message it does not let me send the forward (send is oddly not an option). I can go to contacts and send a new email from contacts. I just can't forward anymore. Very odd. My support group says phone is broken. Seems like it has to be some simple setting. Please advise.

How to remove "Version Name" from contact sheets

When printing contact sheets, how do you remove the words"Version Name" from under each photo.
I just want my image numbers to be there such as JJC_3795. As it appears now is reads, Version Name:
JJC_3795. I went to Presets then to File Names hoping this would fix it, but can't figure out how to make that change. Maybe it's not possible???
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think it is possible. What I have done is print to PDF and then (in Acrobat Pro) covered the "version name" part with a blank text field, white background, and done the physical printing from Acrobat.

Messages will only use AIM names from Contacts

Hi, all of a sudden, Message will only use AIM names from my Contacts when I create a new message. In the example below, all three of these people have multiple other address in Contacts that Messages used to present as options but, as you can see, now I only get the AIM names.
Does anybody know what might be happening here?

Bottom left of that pic (out of sight) will be a extra info spot that tell you how many Non iMessages accounts you have logged in and tells you the Description Names (taken from the Preferences > Accounts)
If in the Preferences > General Section you have Unticked the item about "Gather(ing) all Accounts into one List" then you will get a similar List in the Window Menu (of Logged in Accounts).
If only an AIM valid ID/Screen Name remains Logged in then the "To" drop down will only show AIM Buddies.
A Pic I have used elsewhere showing the Prefs/Accounts with the Descriptions and the Window Menu plus a arrow to the Main Messages window list of same
I restricted my Logins to one AIM (Main AIM - highlighted) and a Google Login and the Bonjour account.
As Eric says make sure other accounts are Logged in or Enabled.

IPhone 5, backup on computer is password protected, forgot password, still have phone, just want to reset the password so i can create a new backup!

I have an iPhone 5.
At some point, I backed it up to my PC, with a password.
I have forgotten the password.
I still have the phone.
I can no longer back it up to the PC.
I want to wipe the backup, password, etc, and start again.
Surely that can't be impossible!

Once iTunes is set to encrypt iPhone backups, switching this feature off requires the password. What if the password is forgotten or unknown? You can still reset iTunes to make a fresh backup without encryption. Follow these steps to uncheck Encrypt iPhone backup:
Perform these steps at your own risk!
1. Delete any Mail Exchange accounts on the iPhone.
2. Delete old encrypted backups from iTunes.
3. Use iExplorer or ssh to delete the file /private/var/Keychains/Keychain-2.db from the iOS filesystem. Note: this step will clear stored passwords from your device.
4. Restart the iPhone.
5. Connect the iPhone to your computer and open iTunes.
6. Uncheck the box next to Encrypt iPhone backup.
7. If prompted for a password, enter the passcode currently set on your iPhone.
When successful, iTunes should begin backing up the iPhone to an unencrypted backup. If this does not happen, start a new unencrypted backup manually.

Inbox won't display senders names from Contacts list?

Is there a way to get the iPhone email Inbox to display the sender's name from my Contacts list when the user is on my Contact's list? As it is now, when I go to my Inbox on the iPhone, it shows a list of email addresses instead of the name's of the users, even though they are on my Contacts list. Once I click on a message and view it, then it shows the Contact List user name, but it does not show that data on the Inbox page.
Is this a bug or is there a setting to change this behavior or something else?

I'm with ya. I wonder if someone somewhere is working on an mail app that can both display names and allow us to use emoticons. Having used emoticons for years with my students, the sudden lack of them has some of them thinking I'm mad at them. Also, when I try to use the heartmark or other symbols available thru the numbers keypad, the email I send is apparently unreadable.

All iTunes content on your iPod Touch should be in your iTunes library on your computer, and your iTunes library on your computer should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data - stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only.
When music was purchased on a CD, if the CD was lost and you returned to the store where the CD was purchased with your receipt, were you given a replacement CD?
