Lost network icon on side bar

Hello all,
in my haste of dragging and dropping, I accidently grabbed the Network Icon off the side bar
(ie. desktop/music/movies etc..) of an opened folder and poof it over the desktop. I tried dragging the icon off my library but I'm getting circle with the cross when trying to drop a new icon on the folder window side bar.
First question, is if there's another way to drop Network Icon onto the side folder bar or import it to a location for the side bar.
Second, if there's a way to lock and unlock the side bar.
Thank for the suggestions in advance.

Finder > Preferences > Sidebar > click network
I don't think there's a way to lock the sidebar. I've seen others ask about this and not seen a solution, just people saying you can't.
I suggest in future you don't post your email address because spam bots will find it. The moderators here will remove it.

  • I lost "Yesterday in "History" Side bar. Now shows only "Today" and "Last 7 days"

I deleted by mistake the Category "Yesterday" in the "History" Side bar. It now only shows "Today" and "Last 7 days". How can I retrieve the "Yesterday" category that shows all the websites I visited yesterday?

You can't restore history data once it is deleted, unless you do the UNDO before closing the History window, from the Organize menu item.
Yesterday should return tomorrow, when tomorrow becomes today, and today becomes yesterday.

  • Network icons in menu bar depending on location?

I have two network locations set up; Home where I use a wireless network and Mobile where I use my mobile phone as a modem.
Is it possible to specify which network status icons I want displayed in the menu bar depending on which location I choose? For Home I would only like the Airport icon displayed, but for Mobile, I'd like to have the bluetooth and modem status.
    12 PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Not quite what I need.
What I want is that when I choose the 'Home' location, all that appears on the menu bar is the Airport icon. I don't need the modem and bluetooth icon as I don't use a modem from that location.
When I choose the Mobile location, all I want to appear on the menu bar is the bluetooth and modem icon as this is what I'll use and won't be needing Airport.
Having the unused icons in the menu bar takes up valuable space on a 12".

  • I dont see computers on the network on the side bar in finder

Hi I am new to mac ( 2 days )
I am connected to a wireless network with a couple of pc's but I cant see them in the finder bar or any other network items....
I have enabled sharing on the Pc's and I can see the mac book on them and transfer files etc but cant see anything on the mac book
I am using OS X snow leopard
    Can anyone help ?

Assuming that your settings are correct (see above), I decided to change something to see if I could get my smb shares to show up under Shared more consistently. Previously I had problems connecting with my iBook if it went to sleep. And, it too would disappear from Shared if it went to sleep. So, I did my best to keep all the machines from sleeping. Now, no machine has disappeared from Shared unless I let it sleep accidentally or intentionally. Note that there appears to be a positive correlation between (a) a share disappearing and the length of time a it has been asleep and (b) shares disappearing and the numbers of shares asleep. Of, course, this work around requires you to prevent sleeping on machines you think you will want to connect with in the "near" future.

  • How do I fix that I accidentally dragged the safari application ( an open window I was on and tryed to drag it to repositions) into an Iweb icon on the side bar, now when I open Iweb it says cannot open  /applications/safari.app"   ..

I had a safari window open, I went to drag it up on to the destop more but my finger slipped and it dropped into the icon on side bar iWeb that I had been working on. now My iWeb app  says "cannot open /application/safari.app" .  Ihave already tryed to drag the iWeb to trash and reinstall the applications cd.  also, since tryng to figure it out via posts oon apple support that seemed similar ( finding in library and under listing etc )
also.. the tool bar is huge and so I am afraid I  have screwed this computer up...

    Try following.
First (force) quit Safari, iWeb and all other open applications.
Drag iWeb to the Trash, empty the trash. Restart mac. Recover iWeb from Time Mache backup before you made the mistake.

  • I lost the icons for downloads and documents on doc bar

I lost the icons for the downloads and documents on doc bar. I read the other support answers and tried what they said still no luck. any answers?

If you mean they're on the dock but have the wrong icon, right click and select "display as folder".
If you mean that they aren't there at all, open a Finder window to your Home folder.  Drag the documents folder to the right side of the dock.  Do the same with the downloads folder.

  • Lost Wirless network icon after security update

I lost my wireless network icon at teh top of the finder bar after i upgraded to the newest security update via software update. Did anyone else have this problem, and if so, did you find a fix? I have no bars visible and can not switch between networks as I can no longer see them

    HI
Also, once you mark it Solved, you can't award points
I am confused by this. Where in Terms of Use does it say you can't? Do you have personal experience of this (as an OP who asked a question)?
I asked a question months ago, marked it answered. After closing it I awarded a green star, months later Helpful button still available.
I suppose OP could always have remarked question as 'unanswered', awarded the points, then marked it 'Answered' again IF you are correct.

I haven't gotten a new sim card because the problem has been presenting itself in various cards not only mine. So far, all I've done is reset my network settings.
Last night, I turned off the 3G tab and it had all the signal bars. Today, I did the network reset and it's working apparently. But like I said before, previously the bars just disappear and the iphone only has the 3G activated.

  • [SOLVED]Gnome: No network icon in the status bar

So fresh install and no networking icon in the status bar.
I also opened the network connections program and it didnt show any connections. I am using eth0 to write this.
This suggests to me that a daemon hasnt been started (but doesnt necessarily explain no icon in status bar)
here is the daemon section of my rc.conf
DAEMONS=(hwclock syslog-ng network netfs crond networkmanager dbus gdm)
i added network manager as a previous attempt (on advise of someone elsewhere on the internet(cannot remember where lol))
Thanks.. I have nearly got my system how I want it (minus software i havent installed yet)
Sorry if i have created a duplicate thread

    Thanks to both of you.
I had already noticed the redundancy of network which was added in the install however hadnt considered the ordering

This is pretty much all i have seen people saying at the end of their posts on here. I agree with the point you have made, however i have been on the wiki all day, conisdering this is a newbie forum it is to be presumed that it is a pretty new installation. Therefore the user does not have time to read the entire wiki. As i said i have been on the wiki all day and used it countless times and have found it invaluable, so im only posting here when i am unable to find answers there.
That aside this is a wonderfully helpful community so HI

  • I, am now getting annoyed with i-cloud. I had an express lane discussion with your support group earlier this morning after discovering that the cloud icon wasn't next to music in the left hand side bar.

I, am now getting annoyed with i-cloud.
I, have spent considerable time trying to connect my i-pod touch wirelessly with no success untill I saw on the i-tunes store tab that my i-tunes match was not turned on. I clicked to turn it on and I was asked to add this computer which I have already done. I talked to the Apple support group and they talked me through the set up  through add this computer again! But sure enough it worked I had the cloud icon next to music in the left hand side bar and in the store tab i-tune match was turned on and everything seemed to be working.
I, looked again less than half an hour later and i-tunes match was turned off again. I began to turn it on again and now I get asked to pay the i-cloud subscription. How is this resolved?

I can see that this issue has been quite extensive, and frustrating, and I am so sorry for all that has happened societygirl! I would like to help you work this issue out. Please follow & send me a Direct Message, so I can get your account specifics and help finally bring this to a resolution.

Do you have a printer that has a memory card slot on it?
