Lost notes in sync

Why did I lose by notes from the noteshelf app when I synced with macbook pro?  Can I get them back?

After signing into icloud.com, the missing notes reappeared! Wow.
Then going back to the my iPhone and Mac, the missing notes reappeared there too.
A bit unsure how this all happened, but I'm going to be more careful going forward.

When syncing to new 4 i-phone everything synced but notes

I just lost all my notes on my iPhone 4S when I synced. They disappeared on my computer too but remain on my iPad? Checked both and have Notes synced to iCloud. Before I synced, the iPhone has been missing all but one recent note and I couldn't figure out why it was different from the iPad and computer. That is why I synced only to lose the one that was on there. Afraid to sync iPad since it is the only one left with all the notes intact.

  • I lost my itunes after syncing and older iphone to my powermac g4.  Originally I had an older ipod nano that I would sync to the g4 and everything was fine. Lost itunes music even though preferences had been set in advance for not automatically syncing.

My itunes library had been fine.  I had been using an older ipod nano to sync with my itunes library and had been doing manual syncs, with the preferences in itunes set for not allowing "ipods or iphones" to sync automatically.  I found out that apple had a program to replace the battery on this older ipod nano, so I sent it in.  It was great, they didn't have an exact replacement and sent me a later ipod nano.  However, this ipod nano is so new - I will have to get a newer computer with a later operating system to use it.
So, I thought I'd use my old iphone to listen to my old playlists.  I thought the preferences were set for not automatically syncing iphone to itunes.
I've had problems in the past with the syncs with this iphone and my computer because of the USB port (1.1).  I'm thinking this was the problem.
The apple store did something to update the software on my iphone when it wasn't working one day. I think that when I tried to sync the iphone to the g4 cube via the old port (1.1) it basically wiped out everything on my itunes.  Whatever was my selected playlist for my iphone - that was the only music
that remained on my computer and the iphone.  I only had about 20 songs purchased on my library, but alot of music that had been downloaded, I gave away those original cds.  I did have a back up on my external drive, but that thing died a few weeks ago from some random power outtages we had this fall.
I'm not looking to purchase retrieval software or have some outside third party to retrieve it for me.  It's not that much music lost.  I just wanted confirmation that this is what happened: that my old iphone sync is what erased the music.

The old iTunes library was lost with the old PC.  However, it all that music and content is still on your iPod there are many ways you can extract this content from the iPod and import it back into iTunes.
Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the new PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Syncing photos via iTunes - getting new error message" "the iphone could not be synced because the connection to iphone was lost"

I am trying to sync photos in a dedicated file on my desktop with the photo library on my iPhone 4S.  Something I have done many times before.
Since upgrading to iTunes 11 I get this message "the iphone could not be synced because the connection to iphone was lost" midway through the sync.  I do not understand this as I am syncing via the USB lead, so how can the connection be lost?
Bascially I just want to update the photos on my iPhone with new photos I have added to the file I use on my computer.
Any help or ideas would be gratefully received.  Thanks.

    This may help you

  • If my  ipod nano already has music on it but not my account will all my stuff be lost when i sync it to my account

if my ipod nano already has music on it but not on my new account will all my stuff be lost when i sync it to my new accont and would i still be able to add stuff from the old account to my ipod

All your iTunes Store purchases are linked to the account.  I do not think you can use two accounts with an iPod*, so you will have to choose one account or the other, and use only the things purchased under that account.
*I've never actually tried, but that's my understanding.  You'd get a better answer by posting in the correct forum.  Try the iPod forums rather than the Using Apple Support Communities forum.

why am i receiving the message "ipod could not be synced because connection to ipod was lost" when trying to transfer a downloaded library audiobook to my ipod, please?

    - Reboot the computer
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try another cable. !
    - Try another USB port
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • Has anyone experienced this error when syncing your iphone..."iphone could not be synced b/c the connection the iphone was lost"????

i have been trying to sync my iphone and keep getting the following error: iphone could not be synced as the connection to the iphone has been lost"....suggestions please.

Try one or more of the following troubleshooting steps:
Connect the phone directly to a USB port on the computer, not to a USB hub.
Disconnect all other USB devices except the iPhone, keyboard and mouse.
If it's a desktop or tower computer use a port on the back of the computer rather than the front.

  • Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Is it possible to recover ical data lost in a sync?

Your only bet is to resotre from the Time Machine backup. However when you do this the sync process will promptly delete the calendars again, so you need to work through the slightly convoluted method detailed in this page:

  • Duplicates seen only on iPad's iPod but NOT on syncing windows XP laptop...

Okay, first I hope all are well! My problem has been sent to Applecare - this has happened to me three times. Only once did Applecare help solve this. I cannot remember the procedure that this wonderful tech walked me through but I know it did not involve the Restore option.
To clarify the problem: I cannot use the normal find duplicates procedure, for the dupe only can be seen on the iiPad's iPod screen - that screen in which you touch the screen for your music selection. My iTunes on my windows xp laptop does not display the duplicate nor does it allow me to select the Find Duplicate button!
The laptop only displays that song and not it's dupe.
My solution was to delete the tunes involved from my laptop and resync! Of course I lost the songs and had the choice to repurchase the lost tunes! It is not really a problem now, for it only involves one tune but have been hit with 8 duplicates earlier in my iPad's history.
Again, thank you for your time and help!

Okay, I am going to answer my own question...Apple Care Support are made up of GREAT people!! It is 4am here in Hawaii and though the site was having problems all my retry(s) were answered by Apple techs!!! I was contacted and talked to by 3 different reps!!! Each one was professional and very cordial! I felt bad imposing on them.
What happened was that I did not really sync up my iPad from day one. Somehow my purchases were not being downloaded properly resulting in the above. I was initially thought that I would have to do a intense Restore but was walked through a procedure checking that my XP laptop was Authorized, etc. In short it is worthwhile to have Applecare!!!
I was saving for a "souped up" Lenovo W series laptop but will go with Apple product! These people made my day. I might get only 3 hrs of sleep but it is nothing compared to the peace of mind they bought me!! THANK YOU APPLE! Jobs, these people make up for any shortcomings the hardware have!
    Goodnight/morning to all!

  • "The ipod could not be synced because the sync session failed to start"  What does this mean?

When syncing on iTunes, the syncing meter runs in iTunes in my computer but nothing appears in my device (It should have Sync In Progress).  Whenever I edit my music files (editing title, album and artwork), it edits in iTunes but when I eject my device, nothing's changed.  My device is a 3rd Gen iTouch and this is my second 3rd gen iTouch unit.  I lost my first unit and am familiar with how it operates so I do not understand what is causing this.  The 4 view option buttons "show items in a song list... etc" (beside the search field, upper right corner) won't work. Now in my 3rd attempt to sync, as i right click on my ipod name in iTunes to select sync, this appears ,"The ipod could not be synced because the sync session failed to start" and my only option is to click OK.  Please help.  My apps are kinda slow too and theres a slight delay opening files and apps in my iTouch.

  • IOS 5: The iPad "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.

Am trying to migrate into the iCloud and updated:
    1. Mac Air to 10.7.2
    2. iTunes to 10.5.(141)
    3. iPad (1) to iOS 5 (9A334)
Was able to sychronize and then found out I lost all my apps and rearranged them in iTunes and hoping I could resync them again and received:
The iPad “...” could not be synced because the sync session failed to start.
I saw various entries for this in the the communites mainly caused by earlier Betas but I haven't seen anything for the latest versions released last week.
    Anybody who can help?

Try resetting your iPad an see if that will let you sync.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Try restarting your computer as well.

  • Can i recover lost notes from an old time machine back up?

Re: lost notes     Oct 1, 2009 8:59 PM    (in response to Sybil Clanton)
Where did you synch them to? If you synced then TO your Mac, you can get them back:
iTunes > Devices > your phone > Info > Notes (check sync notes), Advanced - Replace Info on this iPhone - check Notes. If you had "Replace" checked when you did your last synch, the notes were replaced by whatever had previously been synched to your Mac (nothing?) and are unfortunately permanently lost.

Thank you for your response! I read that their is a product called Wondershare that will recover contacts directly from the phone and that the data is still in there somewhere. This program is $80 and before I purchase, I just want to make sure it will actually recover those contacts.

  • The ipod could not be sync because the ipod could not be found on the network

I plugged my ipod touch (4 gen) into my computer to  sync and charge and itunes will not sync it any more.  I the the error: the ipod could not be sync because the ipod could not be found on the network.  It says it backed up on 11/4/13 which was just 5 days ago, but it won't let me back up or restore now at this point.  It will charge the battery but that is all. Anyone know  how to correct this problem?

Are yo set up to sync via USB vice wifi?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reboot the computer
    - Try another USB port and cable
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
