Lost Old Laptop - how to move to 64 bit

I had a hard drive failure on my old laptop (Windows XP) now have a new laptop with Windows 7 that I'm trying to use to load iTunes and sync.  It keeps telling me to load the 64-bit version but I think I did (clicked on 64 bit installer).  Is there any trick?

It is confusing, but by default RPM does not display the package architecture. On a 64-bit host, usually both 64-bit (*x86_64*) and 32-bit (*i386*) packages get installed. Do this:
$ rpm -qa --qf='%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}.%{ARCH}\n' | sortto see exactly what package versions you have installed.
Be aware also that i386 sometimes refers to the platform architecture (versus, for example, ia64 or ppc) but i386 and x64_64 refer to architecture variants. So the context where these names appear matters very much.
Even more fun is to boot a 32-bit kernel on a 64-bit machine. It works great, but just try understanding which meaning i386 has in that context :)

Lost my laptop, how do I transfer all media from phone to new pc?
    cheers

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are replacing your computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in itunes(under the edit menu if using Windows).
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer file/docs/pics/music/etc.
If for some reason you have failed to backup ( not good), ou could try removing your hard drive and putting it in a HD enclosure and accessing it this way.

  • How to re-install CS5.5? [was: My products are on a hardrive recovered from my old laptop, how do I put them on my new one?]

    So here's the story:
I had CS5.5 on my laptop. It worked great. I loved it.
Then, I spilled coffee all over my laptop and it stopped working. The laptop in question? An enormous macbook pro.
A friend of mine who is markedly more experienced in the mysteries of computers than I am managed to pull out the hard drive and save everything. The hard drive now exists as an external. All my products are there, but I can't open them.
After this, I got a new laptop. It is, again, a macbook pro. Now, I have all the programs on the hard drive, but I can't figure out how to get them onto the new laptop so that I can start using them again.
Please help me. I am very nearly computer illiterate. I just want to be able to use premiere and audition again.
    Thanks.

You can re-download the software from Download CS5.5 products
Install and enter your serial number when prompted.

What is the newer version of the other Adobe Software that can be supported by my laptop ?
what is the maximum of CSx programs that I can hope I could use with my laptop ?
    Thank you for your time
(I hope someone from Adobe could see and answer it more quickly than me..)

These are user-to-user forums, so there's only a chance that someone from Adobe might see your posting and also answer it.  Regardless of which version might work best for the machine you have, chances are you won't be able to find/buy any other version than the most recent, CS5.  You may be able to find a secondary vendor online somewhere selling older versions, but I've never heard of good results for people that have gone this route.
Since there is a free 30 day trial, you should take advantage of it and test to see if CS5 can work on the system you have.  If it supports VISTA, there's a chance it will support CS5, though increasing your RAM will be helpful even without  concern for the Adobe products.

  • Lost old computer how can I sync with new?

The computer I used to sync my iPhone has stopped working and I really would like to sync my phone so is there any way to sync my phone to another computer without losing everything?

Whatever you bought/downloaded from iTunes Store can be re-downloaded from there to your new computer and synced to your iPhone, or iPod. Just sign into your iTunes account.
As far as music that didn't come from iTunes Store there are non-Apple programs to move music from your iPhone to iTunes on your new computer.  I'm using PodWorks (not cheap,~ $8); another is Senuti. There are many others & some good ones are free.
I agree that you should be using a backup.  But that's not the question you asked, just something we all need to do. Saves a lot of headaches.

  • I lost my laptop, now i can not access my ebook. how can i deactivate my old laptop without accessing it?

i lost my laptop, now i can not access my ebook. how can i deactivate my old laptop without accessing it?

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications and iBooks. It's your responsibility to make backup copies (as iTunes itself advises) in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places.
For apps, look here for instructions on redownloading.  For songs, movies, and videos, if you don't have a backup of your purchased items, either on external media or another computer and don't have them on an iOS device (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad), you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your content.
If you have your content on an iOS device, post back and someone here can help you get them restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". You'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) ") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.
    Regards.

  • How can I move my entire iTunes library from old laptop to new one?

I got a new iPad for Xmas to replace an old laptop not realising I would still have to have a laptop or PC for my main iTunes library. I have got round ths by creating my own area on my partner's laptop & have installed my iTunes library on there. However, it has only installed my purchased music & not my wider collection such as all my CD's that I burned then got rid of to go digital. I have my complete library on my iPad & iPhone but need it on my laptop too in case I lose or break a device & need to install my iTunes library to a new device.
I have followed the support detailing how to move your iTunes to a new computer but am not getting very far. I don't have an iPod to use as an external hard drive. I read that you can drag your iTunes library to a CD or DVD but my library is 16GB & I don't have any disc big enough!
Does anyone have an idea of a simple way I can do this? Is it not possible to do it directly from my iPad or iPhone seeing as my complete library is on both of these devices?

Before you connect any device to a new library go to the Devices tab of the the preferences panel via Edit > Preferences (Windows) or iTunes > Preferences (Mac) and ensure the box next to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically is ticked. You can now safely connect the device to your computer without the danger of media being automatically deleted or overwritten.
To get all your content off your connect your iPad to your new computer.
Then use a 3rd party piece of software to transfer your content
I have found Senuti useful but there are others listed in the article I linked to in a previous post.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
That will let you transfer your non purchased content
For Purchased content log in to iTunes on the new computer
In Itunes Store click on Purchased under the Quick Links section on the right.
Download any music by clicking on the cloud button

  • How can I move Adobe Acrobat Pro from my old laptop to my new one?

A few years ago I purchased Adobe Acrobat Pro. I recently purchased a new laptop. As such, I'd like to install Adobe Acrobat Pro on the new machine, however; I don't want to have to purchase it again. Does anyone know how I can move it from my old laptop to my new one?

I feel I've explained plenty what you must do but you aren't getting it.
All music on your old iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Transfer the music from your iTunes library on your computer to your new iPhone in the same way it was transferred from your iTunes library to your old iPhone - via the iTunes sync/transfer process.
Since you prefer the manual way, you must manually drag and drop the same 377 songs from your iTunes library to your new iPhone - in the same way the 377 songs were manually transferred from your iTunes library to your old iPhone.
Or you can sync which provides more options overall. Create an iTunes playlist for the 377 songs. Select Sync Music under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and choose selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres. Select the iTunes playlist below that includes the 377 songs followed by a sync.
