Are you sure that you are saving to correct folder, for instance I have Desktop selected?

  • Lost sound when upgraded to Windows

I lost sound when I upgraded my Gateway Solo250 from Windows 98 to Windows XP Home. On Device manager, the systems reports that my sound controls are working but the Multimedia Audio Controller is not installed (Problem 28). I have downloaded drivers from Gateway and from Creative Labs Sound Blaster Li've but can not install them. I get the error message that no sound card is being detected. What happened? How do I fix this without messing up anything else, since the computer is operating smoothly, except without sound. Thanks for your help!

I have the exact same problem. I got numbers off of the creative chip on the motherboard, if that helps to get a solution. Gateway lists that XP is not supported on solo250. Creative is the only source that can solve this, since all of these companies laid off all of the developers. Did you find any help at all? I would hate to go back to win98...

  • Lost photos when upgraded to Iphoto 11 - Time machine is off.

I just upgraded my iphoto and have lost all my photos. When I upgraded it was pretty quick and asked me which iphoto I wanted to use. I clicked on the first one. It didn't open the first time but the second time it opened fine...NOW ALL MY PHOTOS ARE GONE! My time machine is off (apparently the computer comes like that and you have to turn it on) and I have no backup!
    PLEASE HELP!!!

Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'

  • Lost data when upgrading to itunes 8.0.1

When I upgraded to 8.0.1 I lost all of my library, when I restored the library everything except my purchased music came back. Where is my purchased music? Can you redownload purchased music without being charged again?

+when I restored the library everything except my purchased music came back.+
How did you restore the library?
Maybe just the Purchased playlist is messed up, but the songs are actually in the library.
Try this - create a smart playlist where " *kind contains protected* ". Does anything show up in that?

  • I lost app when upgrading to  5.0here did it go...important app I use for note taking at work!

I upgraded my iPad 1 to the new iOS, 5.0, and it removed an application I downloaded from the Apple Store called Noteworthy.  It was a note taking software, and it's been upgraded a few times since I bought it, so I know it's legitimate.  I lost all my notes, etc.  Anyone have advice?  This is pretty critical for me!

Apple stepped me through the backup restore, only to find out it was all gone.  VERY UNHAPPY with APPLE, and am planning to tell everyone I know.  Step one of any upgrade should be to conduct a back-up, and confirm it with the user.  I guess Apple thinks they are above process?   Oh well...eight months of notes flushed away.  I guess I should not have had a choice in keeping those, right???  APPLE BITES!

  • Lost Notes when upgraded

So Apple required an upgrade to the OS of my 4S iPhone to 6.1.2 for some odd reason. Did that and lost all my content (music, notes, everything). So I thought I woudl rely on the BACKUP. Nothing there exscept a reinstall of the OS but no content. By no content, I mean the following have been lost:
    1. NOTES
    2. MUSIC
    3. MESSAGES
    4. APPS
I was able to recover the contacts somehow. Reinstalledd the APPS, just fine and painfully redid the music.
Where are my notes? How can I retrieve them? Isn't this what a BACKUP is for?

  • Lost contacts when upgrading ios and merging to cloud

I recently upgraded to iOS ver 6.0  Came to a question to "merge with Cloud".  I had not intentionally used iCloud before but assuming merge ment the union of what was on iCloud and what was on phone, checked yes.
All my contacts were lost!  on the phone.  I have gone through the advice to turn off contacts/cloud etc to no avail.
The original data is not on the icloud.com!
Is there any way to recover original contacts?
    thanks!

They will be in whatever program/cloud service you have been syncing.
If you have failed to sync them, then they are likely gone.
You can try restoring from backup.

  • Lost music when upgrading

    Hi,
i just upgraded to 7.0.2.16. when i opened up itunes all of my music was gone. i managed to get it back by going to "add folder", but i still don't have any of my playlists or rating information. how can i get that info back?
    ps:
my does apple make a simple upgrade such a pain in the ***?!

    Hi
I had the same trouble upgrading from 7.01 to 7.02. I have tried copying files back from the previous itunes directory and deleting the new one, but it does not work. This does not suprise me completely, because if itunes was able to import the files, surely it would have done it in the first place.
The only think I can think is that I selected 'let itunes organise your music' option. perhaps I should have taken the manual approach like I normally do.
I have found my music and can play it. At least I didn't have too many playlists, but it does not encourage me to ues itunes as my default music player - which is what I was previously considering.

  • Lost items when upgraded to Palm Desktop 6.2.2

    Hi,
Have just purchased a Palm Pre, unlocked, a beauty.  Wanted to move my Palm Desktop items to the PRE.  Upon upgrading my old, old Desktop 4.0.4 to Desktop 6.2.2 I have lost ALL contacts, calendar events etc.  The datebook.dat file is there, but since my old Palm Treo broke down completetly (Palm could not repair it) I could not synch upon installing the new software.
The question is: how can I move my items from the address.dat, dateboook.dat etc to the new version of Desktop.
Thanx muchly for all good advice!
    janko
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

You cannot use those data files in 6.2.
6.2 has a different file format than previous versions and willnot recognize those files.
What I would suggest is to copy your username folder in c-program files-palm.
Paste that folder on the Windows desktop. Remove Palm desktop 6.2 using control panel-add/remove programs. Re-install Palm desktop that you previously had installed. Paste the username folder back into the palm folder on the c drive. Open palm desktop and see if your data is there.
If it is, export your data for backup. Here is a procedure for this.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.
After you have your data backed-up, install Palm desktop 6.2 and if the data does not migrate to 6.2, use the import function in Palm desktop.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.
    http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/emea/pre/p100eww/o2/home/page_en.html
There are links on the page to the user guide, troubleshooting, how to's, downloads, etc.

  • Lost inbox when upgraded to 10.4

Please help. I just upgraded to 10.4. The first time I connected
to mail I got a prompt screen to upgrade that as well. I followed the prompt, was told the computer was importing 107 messages from my old 10.3 version and to wait a few minutes, received the "all clear", and opened my new & improved email to find 2 messages in my Inbox ..... and nothing else. All of my subfolders transfered, but everything that was previously in my Inbox has vanished. What can I do??? Thank you in advance, whomever answers this, for your expertise and time.

This is a known issue. The conversion from Mail 1.x to Mail 2.0 is broken. Take a look at the following thread to better understand the problem:
Help! "You need to take this account online in order to download it."
If this is a POP account, the following procedure should allow you to fix your Inbox problems:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. Make a backup copy of the HOME/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. Create a folder on the Desktop and name it however you wish (e.g. Inbox-Old). It doesn't need to have an .mbox extension.
    4. In the Finder, go to HOME/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/.
    5. Move the mbox file out of INBOX.mbox and into the Inbox-Old folder just created on the Desktop. This file contains all the messages that were in the mailbox before the upgrade to Tiger (maybe even some messages that had been deleted).
    6. Move any strangely-named Messages-XXXXXX folder to the Trash. These are temporary folders created during the import process. Mail should automatically delete them when done. Their presence is a clear indication that something didn't work as expected.
    7. Move everything else within INBOX.mbox, except the Messages folder, to the Trash.
The result of the above should be that INBOX.mbox contains the proper Messages folder only, and the Inbox-Old folder on the Desktop contains the mbox file only. Now, proceed as follows:
    8. Open Mail.
    9. The account's Inbox should properly display in Mail as many messages as *.emlx files are in HOME/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/Messages/. If that's not the case, select the mailbox in Mail and do Mailbox > Rebuild.
    10. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Other as the data format, and follow the instructions to import the Inbox-Old folder that's on the Desktop. Do with the imported mail whatever you wish. You may move to the account's Inbox the messages that Mail failed to convert properly, and delete those that did get through and, hence, are duplicates now.
The following collection of AppleScripts has a Remove Duplicates script that can be useful for removing duplicate messages:
    http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
If all is well and you're not missing anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
Ask for any clarifications or if you need further assistance.

  • Lost photos when upgraded to mountain lion

So I had all of my photos stored in iPhoto, but my work upgraded my OS from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion (yes, I realize Lion was skipped), I lost iPhoto along with all of my photos.  iPhoto came pre-loaded on my machine, so I don't have the software to re-install iPhoto.  Advice?  I did save my photos on an external hard drive (via time machine) prior to upgrading, but I'm not sure if they'll be accessable since I don't have iphoto on my computer anymore.  Thanks!

  • Lost CVS when upgrading to 9.0.3.1

I have upgraded to 9.0.3.1 by installing it in a new directory.
I enables CVS and created a new CVS connection in the new IDE and opened the workspaces I was using previously. No CVS menu options are available in the context menu (except Editor and Tag, but they just go to submenus with disabled options.)
Is there a config entry somewhere that tells the project which CVS connection to use?
More generally, is there a handy way to copy connections and preferences from one installation to another?

    Hi,
It looks like the files in your project do not correspond to the CVSROOT specified in your connection.
There is an easy way to upgrade your settigs from one JDev release to another there is a -migrate commandline option on jdev. This will bring up a dialog on startup that will ask you for the location of your old jdeveloper system directory and then show a list of settings that can be migrated CVS preferences and connections will be one of them.
    Hope this helps,

  • Can i recover lost PDFs stored in iBooks? They were lost upon upgrading to iOS7.

I lost all my PDF files stored in iBooks when upgrading to iOS7. Yes, I backed up my iPad first onto my iTunes account on my PC. No, I am not on the cloud as far as I know.

    Okay... try this...
Perform a Reset on the iPad (different from just restarting). Hold down on both the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears. When you see the Apple logo on the black screen, let go of the buttons.
After the restart, go to Settings -> iTunes & App Store -> Apple ID and sign out of your account. Then sign back in with your Apple ID. Go back to "Settings" and "iBooks" and confirm that "online content" and turn it on. Launch iBooks again.
If that doesn't work, go to Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset All Settings. When done, turn your iPad off (hold the Sleep button down for several seconds. When the red slider appears, switch it off. Wait a few seconds and then press and hold the Sleep button for 1-2 seconds and let go). After the reboot you will need to reconnect your Wi-Fi, log back in to App Store, iBook Store, and iTunes. Try downloading iBooks content again.
    Hope this helps!

  • I lost my Visual Voicemail when upgrading to iphone 5. New phone was set up from itunes backup of iphone4 but my Mac tells me there is an iCloud back up of my phone prior to this date. Will my Vis Voicemail be on this and can I get it on my new phone?

I lost my Visual Voicemail when upgrading to iphone 5. New phone was set up from itunes backup of iphone4 but my Mac tells me there is an iCloud back up of my phone prior to this date. Will my Vis Voicemail be on this and can I get it on my new phone?

I see.  Apple's documentation on what is included in the iCloud backup doesn't explicitly say that it contains voicemails, but that doesn't mean it does not.  You would just have to try restoring the backup to find out.
To restore to your iCoud backup you have to start by erasing the phone.  Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  Then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup.  You will then sign into your iCloud account, accept the terms and conditions, then choose the backup you wish to restore from.  To see an older backup, you may need to tap "Show older backups" (see image below).  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take some time to finish.
If this does not recover your voicemails, you can check to see if you have an older iTunes backup that may contain them.  Available backups are shown in iTunes Preferences>Devices on the Backups list.
If all else fails, you could try contacting your carrier.  Voicemail is a carrier feature and they may have an archive you could access.
