Lost phone, trying to set up replacement

Hello, I recently lost my iphone and just got my new 5S.  do I need to remove my old iphone from my account to set up my appleid and icloud on my new replacement phone?

You can't restore a backup that was made on a device running a more recent version of iOS.  If your replacement phone is running iOS 6.0.1 and the one you backed up was running 6.1.2, for example, you would have to update your replacement phone before you could restore to the backup.  If this is the case, update your phone by connecting it to your computer, and selecting Check for Update or Update on the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings, update the phone and set it up as New.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens again and choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  You should then be able to restore your backup.

    It is better that you set  this up with the Phone.
    In Mountain Lion however the item in Messages > Preferences > Accounts > iMessages accounts that says "Add email" could be used to add iPhone numbers.
    I have never tried this but it was reported widely at the time Messages started as a "new" app.
    Having said that.
    A device that is off from several days will tend to be "removed" from the iMessages list of an active item.
    i.e. just turning Off Messages on the iPhone for about three days will "remove" it's Registration from the iMessages server.
    If you turn it on again it will show "Waiting for verification" for some time.
    i.e. you may not be able to use the iPhone number.

Plugged in new phone but it only gives me an option to set up from a backup done ten days ago. Cant do it via icloud as old phone wont turn on wifi.     Try to change your Apple ID back to your old email address (http://appleid.apple.com) in order to set up and activate the phone. After the set up please sign out of iCloud and turn off "Find My iPhone" (Settings > iCloud) - do that on all your devices -, then change your Apple ID to your new address again and then add your iCloud account on you devices again.

    Well you would be first need to be using the ITUNES program. Not be on itunes the internet page. The program will usually be a music note icon on your desktop. IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE INTERNET = safari , internet explorer, firefox, etc ....your not using the program itunes. YOur surfing the web.
    with that said , always make sure your running the latest version of itunes. If on a mac  >in the upper left , next to the little Apple, click on the word itunes> check for updates.
    windows users > where it says FIle EDIT View Controls Store Help across the top> select help > check up updates
    >Then plug your phone in
    > then when it appears in the itunes window , click on the iphone > it will bring up the option to restore from back up

    i downloaded the wal mart app for my i phone a while back. i just recently tried to use it. when it asked me to log in, i realized i did not have a user id or password.i tried to set up one and it gave me an error message stating the e-mail i was using was already linked to an account. i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app.it did not give me the icon to install the app, but the cloud icon popped up.i selected it and my girlfriends name comes up on my phone with my e-meil attached. i was able to set it up with a different e-mail, but i do not like using that e-mail because im so used to using my hotmail account for everything. what do i have to do to unshare all info between our phones and i-cloud? I WOULD LIKE TO AT LEATS HAVE ONE THING PRIVATE THAT WE DO NOT HAVE TO SHARE!!!

    It sounds like that your email is associated to another Apple ID. You may want to check her Apple ID at applid.apple.com, and see if your email is linked to it.

    I will address your second question.
    First, make sure your iPhone and iPad have absolutely identical Apple IDs.  If they do, use that Apple ID in Settings > iCloud on your iPhone to select the "Notes" option.  Lo and behold, all your iCloud notes should appear on your iPhone.

    ok.. I tried this three times and kept getting that access denied thing when I clicked post my questions. So now maybe I wont have to typ this a fifth time....
    I have a MAC computer with Sync. Was set up under sync Beta. I have an Android phone synced to it that was synced using the pair this device function. It works perfectly. I just got a new Android Tablet and am trying to add it to my sync and it does not seem to have the pair my device function. It insists I log into my sync account. So I try it and it tells me invalid userid/password. I verify and it is the exact email address userid that shows as being my sync account on the MAC. I verify the password on the MAC and it tests out fine. Try the tablet again and invalid.. So I try to reset my password on the tablet and am told my email address/account name does not exist. I just verified it AND Synced my MAC using it!! I have my recovery Key but there is no place to input it into the tablet. There is no place on tablet to enter the link device codes. How can my account be valid and in use on two devices but invalid and nonexistant on the new one? And How do I get the New one to sync with other two?

    I suspect unless he had some items in iCloud backup then they are gone.  Connecting an iPhone to a different library from that to which it was previously connected will result in the device asking if you want to erase it.

    Replacements via Apple tech support are usually refurbished units, not new stock, though none of us here can say with certainty what you will receive. But you will not be able to tell the difference between new stock and a refurbished unit, and refurbished units generally go through more extensive testing than do new units, so getting a refurb may well be better than getting new stock.

    well first make sure that when you click on the name of your iphone on the left hand side of itunes that you go to the app and music tab and check mark the sync apps and sync music. then try clicking apply in the bottom right hand corner. then if not try doing it again after going to prefrences in the top menu and going to devices tab and click reset sync history if that doesnt work with music try and drop and drag to the name of your iphone, lastly if that doesnt work you can try restoring from a backup from before you updated. it will keep the new software but put everything that was on your phone when you created the backup back onto your phone.
