Lost photos after installing os5

i backed up my ipad 2 and then installed os5.  now at least half of my photos are gone...  any ideas on how or if i can get them back?

We're they taken with the iPad/copied to it via the camera connection kit, or synced from a computer ? If the former then you could try restoring to your backup, if the latter then you could sync them back.

  • Where is my I Photo Library in Time Machine Backups as I seem to have lost photos after installing Lion?

Can anybody tell me how I can locate my photos from I Photo in the Time Machine backups as I seem to have lost most of 2011 after installing Lion.
    Many thanks

To recover individual photos open iPhoto and use the File ➙ Browse Backups menu option.
That will take you into iPhoto in Time Machine where you can search for the phtoos and restore them.
To restore the entire library, close iPhoto, go to the Pictures folder, enter Time Machine, go back in time till you get the library you want to restore, select it and use the Restore button.

  • How do I retrieve lost photos after iOS 5 upgrade?

How do I retrieve lost photos after iOS 5 upgrade? I have never sync'd it to iTunes or iPhone.

All apps on the iPad should be in the iTunes library with iTunes on the computer the iPad is synced with.

  • After installing OS5 my sync is stuck on back up 2 of 7 - 12 hours

After installing OS5 my ipad is stuck on backing up 2 of 7 - 12+ hours waiting

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again.
You will not lose data by resetting.

  • Can No Longer Get Camera Photos After Installing Mountain Lion

After installing Mountain Lion, I am no longer am able to see pictures from my digital camera thru the USB port.  This camera has worked for years with my iMac, but not anymore.  Anybody else having this issue after installing the newest system?
    Dick

    Paul_31:
I have not tried to import the photos directly into iPhoto.  However, I did remove the SD card from the camera and plug it into a USB card reader, and my iMac would NOT read the photos that way either.  I took the camera and plugged it into my Win. 7 laptop and the pictures showed up nicely, so I know the camera and the card are Ok.  My iMac has been working strangely since I installed Mountain Lion.  I'm getting lockups using iMovie too.

  • How to get back all lost photos after updating the iOS8?

When I updated my IOS8 I thought I lost my photos, so I have restored my iPhone but after restoring I have discovered that I lost all my photos, please advise how can get/ retrieve all the lost photos specially since I didn't do backup?

If you backed up to iCloud, you might be able to choose from more than one backup. Each backup made in iTunes on your computer usually replaces the older one, except if you use a backup to restore from. Go to iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices and check if there are more backups listed, which you can then use to restore.
    Check these articles about backups:

  • Lost photos after iPhoto library rebuild - what happened?

After noticing that there were albums entitled Recovered photos in my iPhoto library, I deleted those albums. As expected, i got a message that i was not really deleting the originals, just getting rid of such albums. There were about 5 of those "recovered albums": one contained about 30 photos; three had zero and another had over 1000 photos. Subsequent to that, thinking of making this library totally clean, I decided to do a "libraty rebuild" using the option-command rebuild procedure of iphoto. I checked all the options presented for that procedure. To my surprise, when the process was finished I had less events, and less photos. A careful visual check of the display pane of events and photos confirmed that i had lost actual photos. I tried to reclaim those lost photos with another rebuild -- this time using iphoto library manager, but without success. What happened? Is there any way to reclaim those lost photos?
I do have a backup, but would prefer to correct the problem in the original library to avoid having to assemble and clean up duplicates that i had before.
I'm using the newest version of iPhoto: 8.1 and OS X 10.5.8 on a MacBook 2.4 Ghz - 2Gb Ram - 250 GB HD, 42 GB available. My iPhoto library has over 12000 photos

Why these things happen is always difficult to answer. My experience with iPhoto is using it since v1 on with a single library that's upgraded each new versions and migrated from G4 iMac to G5 iMac to Intel iMac and then a second Intel iMac. I load photos in, my wife does and my 12 year old does too.
    And never had a problem.
The database gets corrupted when the app is interrupted when writing to it. The usual causes of this include a crash, a force quit or a lost connection to the Library on an external disk. More rarely minor disk or directory damage might be a cause.
I wondered when I read your report
Subsequent to that, thinking of making this library totally clean, I decided to do a "libraty rebuild" using the option-command rebuild procedure of iphoto. I checked all the options presented for that procedure.
The options presented for that procedure include various items that require the app to read the database file plus this one
Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
+I Wonder+ - I stress, I wonder, no more - if reading to rebuild various thumbnails from a file that is being vacuumed +while at the same time+ is being replaced by a backup is what caused the issue.
If it is, then the Rebuild from Back Up option should be sandboxed and not possible while the other events are going on.
    But that's just a guess.

  • Lost youtube after installing ios6

I lost youtube on my ipad after installing the new ios6 sept 24 2012, I've done some searches on this problem, I don't see the problem being resticted  access being turned on, the icon doesn't even show up on that page or anywhere in any of the setting area, it's just gone, any ideas where else to look? I also did a search in spotlight or search my ipad and it comes up with nothing.

Google's app showed up for me without problems:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/youtube/id544007664?mt=8
That is indeed an iPhone-only version right now. Whether Google will release an iPad version will be up to them, just as it was when Apple licensed the app for bundling with past versions of iOS. Or you can just use Safari.
    Regards.

  • Lost partition after installing Yosemite

After installing Yosemite, I found out that my I lost a partition containing my Windows data.
This is a new thread after a post on this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6615095
Windows had a seperate partition for the data. With Disktest I found my folders, but now it's not clear how I can savely continue...
    I tried the options below.
    diskutil list
    diskutil cs list
    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0
sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0
And tried the Testdisk application with the following results:

Using what you are showing from the last Testdisk window
    GPT 3 Start
    GPT 3 Size
    GPT 3 End
    NTFS Start
    Byte Offset
    290418912
    1269536
    291688448
    771975168
    480286720
The size column in the Testdisk entry is 204795904 sectors which is roughly 97+GB, but diskutil list shows it to be 350+ GB. Do you recall the size of your Windows partition?

  • Lost photos after upgrading to iPhoto 11

My library had grown to 90,000 pictures, so it was recommended (local Apple Store) to upgrade to Aperture sonce it had better database management.
I purchased Aperture for 80 it then asked that I upgrade iphoto so the library is compatible for both. I purchased iphoto 11 for $15
After installing, iphoto 'upgraded' my library to be compatible
When done, my 90,000 photo library shows as 47000 ! It can't find half my pictures
Navigating through 'Package Contents' , fortunately, I still see my pictures in 'Originals'. How do I safely get the library - ipHoto-11 or Aperture to see all 90,000 ?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • IPad2 Settings App blank after installing os5.1

Settings screen is blank after installing 5.1. Tried to clear multitask cache and reboot using powerdn/home button. Still blank.

Looks like I will have to. This was the latest ver of os that caused this. I was hoping to avoid waiting to reload all of the data and files. The reset "settings" present on the ipad only resets to factory but leaves the data.
That is why I suggested trying to restore from backup in iTunes first - if you have a backup in iTunes, but as Dah•veed said, sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet!
