Lost photos in Revel

I have 1500 photos that were placed in revel, that now I can't find or reconnect and it has made it impossible to backup My Catalog.  I don't know how to proceed

Yes, your albums should synchronize - eventually. I think that, like many of the online backup services that continually monitor and backup your files, the uploading only happens when the computer is idle. And as computers generally are never really idle it can be a very slow process. You'll just have to be patient.
Following the 'backup' scenario, I use Carbonite to back up my files.  After a recent rebuild it needed to back up about 40GB of data. With my high speed broadband I could upload 40GB in a few hours 'manually' - Carbonite took three weeks to do it with the computer permanently on 24/7 (and for ten days I was abroad so no-one was even using the computer)! Now I'm not saying Revel will be the same but maybe it puts it into some kind of context.
Cheers,
Neale

  • FAQ: How do I edit photos in Revel?

Start by installing Adobe Revel to your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Android device. Tell family and friends who will be
viewing your Adobe Revel photos to install the apps, too.
When you're sharing photos with friends and family, you want them to look their best so that everyone gets to experience and enjoy the moment as much as you did. That’s why we built intuitive and powerful editing tools right into Revel. Make every moment look exactly how you want to remember it with ease.
    Editing Photos in Revel
You can edit a photo on your Mac, iPad, or iPhone using Adobe Revel. Changes are saved to your photo library, so
the photo looks the same on any device.  The Revel cloud keeps a copy of your full res originals. Edits in  revel are non-destructive, so your original is always preserved (unedited). When you export photo (MAC) Save to Camera Roll (iOS), that's when Revel applies your edits. On iOS the preview is used. on MAC the full resolution of the original is used to generate the new edited photo.
    Add adjustments to your photos
Go to the photo you wish to edit.
Click on the +- Edit button on the bottom center of the page on the iPad or the iPhone.
Select a preset adjustment look or adjust red eye, crop, or rotate.
With Revel’s intuitive and powerful editing tools, it’s lots of fun to make your photos look better. Crop and use one-touch filters to get professional results with ease, or use the adjustment sliders when you want to experiment with lighting, color, and sharpness.
Use the crop and red-eye removal tools help you create the perfect memory by eliminating unwanted parts of a photo. And when you have a special memory, use the advanced controls in Revel to give it a look all your own.
Edits you make to a photo appear when you view the photo on any device. Because Adobe Revel saves the edits as separate instructions rather than as changes to the original photo, you can always undo any edits you've made. For example, you can select a black-and-white look, and then if you change your mind, tap or click Undo. If you make a series of edits and then change your mind, tap or click Cancel.
To improve lighting or contrast, tap or click Adjustments. Drag the White Balance, Exposure, and Contrast sliders to achieve the effect you want. Tap or click the two-way  arrows (see image below) for additional sliders that give you finer control
Looks: Turn a photo into an amazing photo with a single tap. With  24 different photo filters it's easy to create a photo that will impress your friends and family.

the original image, just click "Undo"
iPhone Users:  There is  an "undo" button and "compare" button so you can see the before and after result for adding an adjustment to your image.
    Red Eye
Using Revels Red Eye removal is easy. Just click on the "Auto Detect & Correct" or click on the persons eyes in your image  as Revel will automatically correct the red eyes.
    Crop & Rotate
Crop: To remove unwanted areas of the photo, tap or click Crop & Rotate. Drag a corner or side of the frame to resize it. Drag the photo itself to reposition it. Pinch your fingers open to zoom in on the photo within the frame.

Iphone Users: You can share your photos via e-mail or upload your images directly to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter & Tumblr.
    Actions Menu
Add Photo to Album: Add your photo to a new album or existing album in your library
Save Current to cameral roll: Exports the current version of the image that you have applied any adjustments to
Save Original to cameral roll: Exports the original image with out any adjustments applied.
Storing your original photos When you import a photo, Adobe Revel uploads a copy of the original to the cloud.
By default, Adobe Revel also stores a copy of the original on your computer in /Pictures/Adobe Revel Library
The files are stored in a "package" titled Adobe Revel Library. Control click on the package and select "Show Package Contents" from the menu. Then you will be able to view the images in the finder window.
    Favorites
When working with a single photo,  click on the "STAR" to mark your photo as a favorite. The image will show with a star under the "Favorites" in your Revel library.
    Add captions to your photos
Create lasting memories by preserving all the info and details related to each of your photos.
    Deleting photos
Be careful! Deleting a photo removes it from Revel on all your devices, not just the one you're working on. Make sure you really don't want the photo anymore before you delete it.
For example: If you delete the image on your phone or iPad, the image will also be deleted from the Adobe Revel Library in the /Pictures/Adobe Revel Library directory on your computer. Its always a good practice to back up your images to a location on your hard drive.

Use of the tools is pretty much the same in all versions of the program.

  • Lost Photos

I just lost photos in iPhoto 11. I imported my photos from my Canon point and shoot camera, did some light editing, closed and reopened iPhoto, and they were gone. No trace. Also the last import is an old import. I repeated this whole scenario and the same occurred. What do I have wrong? Could it have been my original method of migrating to my new Mac Air?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • FAQ: Can I edit my photos in revel from the browser or android interface?

Q: Can I edit my photos in revel from the browser or android interface?
A: At this point (Feb 2013) you can not edit the photos in Revel unless you are using the Mac, iPhone, or iPad app version of Revel. We are continuing to add new features and intend to add new platforms and file types in the future.
If you have the app loaded on an iPad, iTouch, or Mac, see this  link to learn how to edit:
FAQ: How do I edit photos in Revel?

There isn't an Aperture or iPhoto app for the iPad (it comes with a basic Photos apps which is effectively just a viewer), and the photo editing apps that do exist are fairly basic : cropping, brightness, rotation, straightening etc e.g. the free Photoshop Express app from Adobe (which also has an in-app purchase option). You can use the iPad for reviewing photos but if you tend to do extensive editing then it's probably not suitable.

  • How can I find a group of lost photos from iPhoto?

When a recent Mac OS X update was installed on my computer which included the new Photo App, my iPhoto upgraded to this new app and was replaced by it on my desktop. In beginning to use the new Photo App, I discovered that it did not have the same editing functions as my iPhoto did. I decided then to go back to iPhoto, but when I opened up my iPhoto I realized in my album list that I had lost about a year’s worth of photos all the way back to the middle of 2013. I then decided to restore my computer to an earlier time using Time Machine so that hopefully my iPhoto would be restored with all of its photos. I went ahead and did this and had to do a rebuild of my iPhoto library to recover the lost photos. When I did this, I was not aware, that I had still lost some other photos out of albums from early September 2014. Before I was aware of this, I also erased my external hard drive and then did a backup because I kept getting messages in my computer that the computer could not do additional back up’s because there was not room on the external hard drive.
Earlier today, I tried to retrieve some photos out of albums from that. In early September 2014 and found that the album listed the photo number but there was no thumbnail and when I clicked on the photo it just brought up a silver triangle on black with an exclamation point in the middle indicating that that photo could not be found. I did a command option press and opened up iPhoto and I completed all of the various rebuilding and restoring options all the way up to and including restored iPhoto database. When I had completed all of this I found that I was still missing those photos, several hundred. I am wondering if these photos are still on my hard drive someplace. I could not restore them from the external hard drive because I had erased earlier backup versions, as I indicated. Is it possible for me to find and restore these photos? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.-MP

You created a mess and there is no solution - with the actions you have taken those photos are gone unless you have access to them from some other source - they existed in two place - in your iPhoto library and on your backup drive - you have traded the backup drive and restore an earlier iPhoto library so all you have is what you have

  • Any recommendations for a recovery software for my lost photos on my external drive?

Would like recommendations for a reputable recovery software for my lost photos from my external drive that I used with my MacBook Pro.

    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

  • Time Machine on my iMac won't open iPhoto. It goes to desktop screen automatically. When I select User/Picture/Iphoto library it only brings up the preview page with the size of the folder. I can't get into the library to look for lost photos.

Time Machine on my iMac won't open iPhoto. It goes to desktop screen automatically. When I select User/Picture/Iphoto library it only brings up the preview page with the size of the folder. I can't get into the library to look for lost photos.

Thank You. This helps me alot to get into the masters and to see events and photos in a utilitarian way, but it is not as easy as viewing the normal iphoto format to find photos.  Can I do something else or did I not do something right to not see normal iphoto in Time Machine ?

  • Lost photos in iPhoto? Please help?

    My mac: OS X 10.8.2
My iphoto: iphoto '11 version 9.4.2
I uploaded some photos from my Canon eos 50D to iphoto. They were there that day, I was able to send a few to my friends and even watched the slideshow. So, they were definitely there.
However, today I checked the album again and they are gone. And funny how only 1 photo is left.
I checked the Masters folder and it's true that only that 1 photo is left in that folder.
I saw some other discussion about iphoto lost Canon photos.
Here are a few things I think may cause the problem:
         - I copied the iphoto library to a portable hard-drive ( WD elements ). When I connect the Canon camera to my Mac, I import the photos in the library that is IN that USB.  I even remembered import the photos in my Mac, then copy that album in the USB, then delete the original album on mac from the Trash folder. Does this permanently delete those?
         - I remembered reset the date on my camera. Does this make the previous photos change somehow, and iphoto couldn't recognize them by dates?
         - I do have back up on Time Machine, but I can't restore those lost photos using the back up.
Thank anyone if you can help me with this problem

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Lost photos and other errors, Complaint letter

I would like to send Apple a formal complaint letter letting them know how greatly disappointed I am with their products. I was a great fan of Apple and I was even considering buying a new Mac but I am no longer so sure.
For a while I dealt with MobileMe Calendar crashing constantly while trying to enter meetings and other important events. I just figured that they would get to it sooner or later. I have lived with the fact that my iPhone and my iPad lose the wifi connection they have constantly without any logical reason. I have ignored the fact that I cannot use many webpages on my iPhone or my iPad that use flash (including pages the US Army has) or are just not compatible like many realestate MLS search sites, I have watched as iTunes crashed and froze many times on my computer, and I have even put up with the fact that backing up my iPhone can take in excess sometimes of 8 hours.
But today I think I have had it finally, I lost photos that I had taken of my 1 week old daughter born July 1st; as well as photos from the US Army Black Hawk flight training course (I am a Uh-60 pilot in the Army). These were photos that I thought had been backed up on my computer by iTunes, these were photo's that I can never get back now, these are memories that I had wanted to keep. For many years before I joined the Army I was a computer systems engineer and I have a B.S. in Computer Info Sys; so I know how to use a computer lets not assume that the error is on the user behalf in this instance.
Thanks to Apple and thier team of programmers, I have lost some very importnat memories that I can never get back. I am sure any parent or soldier that has lost photos like these would agree there is no excuse, especially when you did everything the way you thought it should have been done. I am more than a little angry that Apple cant seem to get it right when it comes to iTunes and the iPhone, if they want people to use the product then make it work so they don't lose things like I have.
Does any know of an Apple email address that I should send this to with someone that would care on the other end? I am just very disappointed and want to be heard.
    From,
    A Very Disappointed Army Parent

  • How to get back all lost photos after updating the iOS8?

When I updated my IOS8 I thought I lost my photos, so I have restored my iPhone but after restoring I have discovered that I lost all my photos, please advise how can get/ retrieve all the lost photos specially since I didn't do backup?

If you backed up to iCloud, you might be able to choose from more than one backup. Each backup made in iTunes on your computer usually replaces the older one, except if you use a backup to restore from. Go to iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices and check if there are more backups listed, which you can then use to restore.
    Check these articles about backups:
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes
Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • Iphoto and Revel: Deleting photos from Revel on iPad.

If I delete photos in Revel will the original photos in iPhoto be deleted???

Thanks for your reply Pattie. I eventually figured this one out. However, my other question is regarding how I accidentally deleted a photo and then Revel wouldn't upload it again. I even tried renaming the photo and dragging it to my desktop. Revel said that it was a duplicate file and could not be uploaded. What doesn't make sense to me is that I deleted the photo from my library, not just an album, so where was Revel seeing the duplicate photo? I don't get it - have you come across this before?
My question was how do I upload the photo again?
Luckily, after having downloaded the Revel application to my laptop, the photo WOULD finally upload after dragging the original photo into the Revel app. However - just to let you know - it would NOT upload the photo, and continued to give me the "duplicate file" error, every time I tried to upload it to Revel in my browser (on Safari). Like I said, It would ONLY upload to Revel AFTER I downloaded the app to my laptop and used that. Drove me insane because it didn't make sense to me!!
    But now you know.
