Lost photos while syncing my new phone
I have a new iphone, plugged it into the computer to sync and selected my iPhone but it has updated it with my old iPhone details. Is there any way of getting back what was on my new iPhone? I had pictures I had not backed up and they have now gone and been replaced with what was on my old phone. I am gutted. Thanks.

Not photos, just data synced with iCloud shown in Settings>iCloud. If you don't have sufficient storage to back up to iCloud, back up to your computer instead using iTunes (connect you phone to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your phone in iTunes, go to ths Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and click Back Up Now). Also transfer your purchases to your iTunes library (connect your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases). If you have photo stream photos older than 30 days tha you wan to save, save these to your camera roll before backing up (tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward facing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).
When setting up your new phone, when given the option choose Restore from iTunes Backup and restore the backup you made earlier. -
I just purchase an IPhone5C to upgrade from my IPhone4, but I do not know how to get all of my photos that were on ICloud on my Photo Stream (875 photos), on to my new phone. I thought that since my 5C can see Icloud that all photos would be there... Can someone help me get the pics from my Iphone4 to the 5C?
Photostream in the cloud only keeps photos from the last 30 days (subject to a 1,000 photo limit). When photostream syncs the photos to your device they will stay there (subject to a 1,000 photo limit) until deleted, which means you may well have more photos in your photostream album on your device than there are in photostream in the cloud.
The consequence of this is that if you turn photostream off and on again on your device (or enable it for the first time), it will only be populated with photos from the last 30 days, which may not be all the photos that were previously in the photostream album on that device. -

While syncing my I phone it gets to step six "optimizing " and gets almost to the end and I get a message that itunes has stopped working and has to close. It get to like 1074 of 1138 items to optimize when iTunes quits. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! I am getting ****** of to spend hours at the computer and reading those lame advises which do not help at all! I have my own things to do except reading your support websites. Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPhone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPhone without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.

iTunes will not let me backup and sync to new phone encrypted password?? I've never set a password for my old iPhone 3gs but tried my old Apple ID sign-in passwords to no avail. I've simply sat here so frustrated....my husband sync'd his new iPhone 4 no problem, somehow the checkbox shows Encrypted password and I'm at a loss on how to change this/find the password and transfer my old backup onto my new phone so I can use it. How do I get the sync of my 3GS on my computer to transfer everything (files, apps, etc.) to my new iphone4? And then how do I move the sync to a newer computer so I can sync the new phone with the new computer?
My 3GS is dying and it's synced to an older computer. I have tons of datafiles as well as apps, music, text messages, etc. that I need to get moved to the new iphone4 I'm getting. Then I need to move the sync to a newer computer so that I can sync the new phone and new computer.
I understand how to get my apps to transfer to a new pc. That's not the issue. It's getting ALL the data from the 3GS to the 4 and then to a new computer.

every time you change your computer/iTunes library, the new iTunes will erase the content on your device and replace it with the content of the new library.
To save your data, apps and other media, perform a manual backup before you sync. Here's how to:
Set up your iTunes account on your new PC, disable autosync in itunes, connect your phone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures taken with the phone and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your phone got wiped during the first sync.

It sounds like there are permissions issues with iTunes. When you sync it may be trying to copy purchased items from your iPhone to your iTunes. Check out the article below to try and resolve it.

Is there any photo editing on this new phone beside just crop and rotating it? My droid did. I didn't have to have an app.
I don't think so, and I was surprised at that. I found a basic photo editor (not interested in stickers, borders and special effects). It's simply called "Photo Editor" by dev.macgyver and has a blue square camera icon. It's pretty good, color adjustment, brightness and all the other stuff I used to be able to do plus a few more. Takes a little to figure it all out, but it's a pretty good replacement. You may of course find others but I like this one. I just searched for "basic photo editor".
