Lost pics in LR 5.4

After importing pics from my camera into a folder, using Finder (Mac) I moved the pics to a different folder. How do I get LR 5.4 to see the pics in the new folder?

Right click on the folder in LR and select FindMissingFolder...this will open a finder window and you just select the new location.
You really should ONLY move files and folders with LR not Finder...it's the only way to keep LR informed.

First place to check is in the iPhoto library. If the images were imported there then they will be visible in the previews created.
The physical location of image files in iPhoto is quite buried in folders within folders. So, if you want to copy them then select all of the ones needed from the previews and copy from iPhoto to a new location, preferably a new folder in the Pictures folder.
The other app that might have transferred the files is Image Capture. It would download files from cards or cameras. Launch this app and look in the preferences to see the default location of transferred files.

And of course I forgot about the built in way to send them back to the Mac .... Email them. You can email up to 5 photos at at time.
Launch the photos app, while looking at the photos in thumbnail view - tap the arrow icon in the upper right corner - tap on up to 5 photos at a time - Tap the Share button in the upper left corner - tap email from the resulting window.

How can i get lost pics and contacts

Im very sad i just had a baby and all my pics from birth were on my phone Nd i plugged it into comp for the first time and it restored it and i lost everything and it transported the stuff from my old phone to the new one. As well as my contacts so i lost alot
Of important numbers is there any possible way to retrieve the photos and contacts i didnt back them up before cuz i didnt know how.

No backup = No recovery. There are no methods available to non-law enforcement or government agences that can undelete or recove iOS data not backed up.

Lost pics (no solution in faqs or knowledgebase)

Ok here it goes, I am on the most current version of Lightroom, and I have apparently 132 missing pics, I believe the error is on my part and not the database's from an upgrade. The reason is that after importing I didn't export them to my folders. Now the strange thing is this, the pictures still show up in lightroom. Though of poorer quality,they are still displayed and a message appears stating that the files are missing... I know they are not on the hdd. I can't edit or export the images which it displays. remember, this is not a question of an invalid path or an upgraded program looking at the wrong database.
Is there a way I can recover the images which lightroom is displaying? I have searched through the hdd and the lightroom folders to see if there are thumbnails or some such image which it uses to display the missing pics in my catalog, but I don't seem to see any. The images are extremely important (in this case, thank goodness, for personal rather than business reasons), or otherwise I would just delete them and forget about it while making a mental note of exporting recent imports prior to deleting from my media.
Unfortunately due to the fact that I use several programs such as Maya Unlimited, adobe creative suite, mudbox, xsi, vue, combustion, avid xpress pro,pixel farm, etc, etc, I use XP pro as the common ground for a variety of software, (some of which is better on Linux, while others on the darwin based OSX.) to increase my workflow and insure I have all the programs in one environment. Now if adobe would just get around to creating RPMs or Tarballs...(smiles)

alright!!! to don solomon: the executable script worked!! though I am a bit paranoid as I mentioned before about running unknown executables which don't come from a reputable repository. It did the job just fine, it rebuilt from the DB noindex set a new folder in the root directory and filled it up with 1gig of jpgs assigned with quite distinct names to what the file's names had been.
the photos scale were off a bit, a little elongated but the color res was actually quite remarkable....definitely a handy tool, I just hope I haven't just joined a bot network run by an apparently very bright young programmer...(heh heh just joshing...I hope.) Now there is the task of rummaging through those files, renaming them with the names of the original missing files, point LR to them and those pesky error messages and lost file list will disappear.
and to John, I used a couple recover programs as you had mentioned and I am absolutely amazed!! I had no idea original raw files could be recovered off of that type of media after so many formats. I have long understood that hard drives, when a file is deleted, lose only the reference to what is deleted and the file isn't truly gone until the area on which it resides is overwritten by something else, and even then files are still recoverable...hence the need for a good secure shredder which will make several passes. Unfortunately, the files I had recovered (a whopping 326!!) where all taken after the pictures in question....but now I know..heck some of those pics have survived ten or twelve formats!! I am sure that is nothing new to some of you power user/photo pros, but I was floored.

Lost pics&vids

Hello I did a full backup via BDM ver.6 of my boss's 9900 and after a wipe and restore the photos and vids are lost!!!
It was stored in the device as no memory card was inserted.I lokked at the content store and it says 0 items. Please help I will loose my job if I can't get it back. The ipd file is 40MiB so there is a chance the pics are somewhere there. Please help.
How can this happen, is a FULL backup a FULL backup? Or is it like quite full backup?

Photos and videos are stored in the Content Store database. Try using the BlackBerry Desktop Software to do a selective restore. Click on Device>Restore, select the appropriate backup file then choose Select device data and settings. From the list that appears, select Content Store then restore.

Only i you have a backup from the time before you lost the photos to restore from. Pictures taken with the camera are part of the backup.
If you don't have that backup anymore, your pictures are gone.
And, you can only restore the whole backup data, not only parts of it.

Lost Pics in camera roll!!

After updating my 4s to iOS 7,I lost my pics in my camera roll. Even after restoring backups from the cloud or iTunes, none come back. What can I do?

If you synced with iTunes after you took the pics and video and before deleting it, there is software available to extract the videos from your computer. Here's an article describing the process. I assume there are more ways, this is the first one I found in a Google search.
Here's some instructions that don't require additional software to recover items from iTunes.
If you didn't sync:
iDisksoft can recover deleted items directly from the phone. iExplorer (free) should be able to do the same thing if you know where to look (or can browse around). When you delete the video it can be overwritten by new items so recovering quickly is key.

I have been using an iPod for two years, and been good about backing it up. I finally bought an iPhone, and backed up my iPod one final time. I then didn't find the time to restore to the new iPhone, and used it for two whole weeks. I finally remembered, and restored from my old to my new iPod. If it was not backed up there is nothing to recover.

Photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process should remain on your computer.
Although photos/videos in the Camera Roll are included with the iPhone's backup, photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer ASAP as with any other digital camera and especially before installing an iOS update. If not imported by your computer and no backup was done prior to installing the update, the photos are gone.
All iTunes content on the iPhone should be in your iTunes library on your computer. If not, check this link.

I have iPhoto '08 (version 7.1.5)transfered to EHD - lost pics

My IMac was too full with all my pics on my hard drive so I moved pics to an external hard drive. Um.... Did not have the good directions I have found since then before I moved the iPhoto Library. I now have all photos and the Library on my EHD. Can open I Photo and all pics are displayed. The problem now is when I click on the pics in IPhoto I do not get the pic but get the black-white circle with the ! inside. If I search for that jpg by the # or name I can locate it on the EHD and open. How can I get back to how it worked before I transfered all to the EHD? Help appreciated.

It sounds like you managed to corrupt the Library. The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents. If you can return those images to exactly the same location they were prior to moving the Library you may be able to fix it.
Otherwise:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

Import photos from iDisk to iPhoto to replace lost pics?

I lost many photos a couple of years ago from my iPhoto. The thumbnails showed up but when I tried to enlarge them all I saw was white. A genius at Apple tried to fix but ended up almost losing all 4000 of my photos. He was able to rebuild the library but all of the pictures that had the problem I described were gone.
I realized not long ago that some of the photos that were lost were on my homepage. How do I import those back into iPhoto?

Download them from your homepage to the desktop then import them to iPhoto.
