Lost pictures after restoring phone

I got a replacement iphone 3gs and when I plugged it into itunes I chose to restore phone for some reason. Now I can't find my pictures I took with the phone. Is there anywhere I can find them at or are they gone for good?

Were the pictures on the device the last time it was backed up/synced with the comptuer?
Were the pictures copied off the device, as intended, at any point?
If the answer to either of the above quetions is no, then there is no way to recover them.

  • Iphone 4 unable to extract picture after restoring from backup.

    Hi all
i m currently using a iphone 4 and while before restoring i have done the back up and after restoring all 2500 pictures was gone and no way to extract. But making use of other third party software all picture was found but due to purchase software thus never make any purchase to retrieve all picture back.
can anyone help to resolve the problems above mention and seem like the jepg file has became a document file instead?

    Hey there spam242,
It sounds like the restore process will not complete successfully and the phone will not boot up. I recommend starting by resetting the phone, then try restoring again.
If your device stops responding, you can reset it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If the issue persists, then I would next put the phone into Recovery Mode and try again.

    Take care,

  • Lost pictures from restore from backup

I had to use the restore from backup feature due to contact being lost from some reason, but at the same time lost pictures

If the pictures were in the backup, they should have been restored. If you had pictures on the phone that were not in your last backup and had not been imported to the computer prior to the restore, then they are lost.

You might try restoring your iCloud backup again.  Sometimes it's successful the second time.

  • Lost pictures after updating to IOS 7.

After updating my iPhone 5 to IOS 7, I lost all the photos that had been stored on the phone. That was six months ago, and I have taken many more pictures I don't want to lose, either. Is there any way to retrieve these images from an old backup without restoring my entire phone to that backup?

You should be importing all pics taken with your iphone to your computer regularly.  Have you failed to do this?

  • Lost photos when restoring phone. Help!

I got a new iphone a month ago and lost my photos on it when I hooked it up to my computer to sync. I restored it back to October 2011 when prompted and now can't find my pictures. Have I lost them for good? Thanks for any help!

If these were photos taken AFTER October 2011 by your iphone and you restored your iPhone to October 2011, then they are gone.
Photos should be uploaded to your computer as soon as possible after taking them so they can be archived and stored safely.  Leaving them on a phone (or on any other digital camera) is asking for trouble, as you are experiencing now.

  • RESTORING notepad info and iPhone shot pictures after restoring iPhone

I restored my iPhone after upgrading to 2.0 while trying to correct a problem only to finally solve this problem by re-installing the latest iTunes software at the suggestion of an Apple support tech person. I was aware that data would be erased, etc but was so frustrated by problem at the time I didn't care.
Now I remember some things I had on the notepad I had not 'noted' else where and I also had some pictures I took with my iPhone I would love to have back. Is there anyway I can recapture this information from a backup file, etc?

Photos captured by the iPhone should be included with your iPhone's backup, which is created and maintained by iTunes during the sync process.
    Copied from this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
+*Backup information includes information such as mail settings, text messages, notes, call history, contact favorites, sound settings, widget settings, certain network settings, and other preferences.*+
Photos captured by the iPhone is not included with this list but it isn't a good idea to rely on the backup for photos that were captured by your iPhone. As with any other digital camera, you should import these photos to your computer. Since you have a Mac, you can use iPhoto for this if you use iPhoto for photo storage and if not, you can use the Image Capture application located in your Applications folder to import these photos to the desired location on your hard drive. This way you have a copy of these photos on your computer not relying on the iPhone's backup for this only. If you don't import these photos and your iPhone is lost or stolen, these photos will be lost or stolen with your iPhone. And if your iPhone's backup become corrupt or there is a problem with it, you have a copy of the photos on your computer for access (which can be transferred to your iPhone via the sync process), and you can maintain a backup for these photos separately along with all your other important data.
Did you restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, or as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup?

  • Lost data after restore

Tried to download (sync) my pics and videos to my PC. Itunes advised me that my phone and itunes had an update available and I could update both which is what I did. At the very end I was advised the update could not complete and my phone locked up (picture of charge wire and itunes logo on my phone). I could not turn the phone off and was advised by itunes that I had to restore the phone, this was my only option. I chose restore which put everything from my last sync back on my phone and deleted everything that I was trying to sync (pics, videos, songs, apps...etc.). How do I go about restoring or finding all of the lost data?

  • Lost info after restoring

I restored my phone and lost a bunch of notes, applications, contacts. Is there anyway to get these back now?

How often do you sync your iPhone with iTunes?
iTunes creates and maintains a backup for your iPhone which is updated if needed as the first step during the sync process - if any of the data on your iphone that is included with the backup has changed since the last sync, which is usually 100% of the time.
Your iPhone's backup includes data such as most iPhone settings, email account settings, contact info, SMS messages, notes, recent calls, call favorites, photos in your iPhone's camera roll, and 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app.
3rd party apps are not included with the backup. 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer along with all other iTunes content - music, video, and podcasts.
Contact info and calendar events are designed to be synced with a supported application on your computer. With XP and Vista, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007 for contact info and calendar events, and with Windows Contacts for contact info only - the address book used by Outlook Express with XP, and the address book used by Windows Mail with Vista - the name change for Outlook Express with Vista.
When restoring your iPhone with iTunes, your iPhone is erased and the firmware is re-installed. After the firmware is re-installed, you are prompted to restore your iPhone from your iPhone's backup, which is the default selection. The other selection which must be manually selected is restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
Did you restore your iPhone with iTunes on the computer that you normally sync your iPhone with?

  • Lost pictures after update

A couple days ago I tried to connect my playbook to my computer to backup my pictures.  First time it has ever been hooked up to computer.  It said it was connected in desktop manager but there was no icon for it in the My Computer folder as a removable drive.  An update popped up saying there was an update available for my tablet.  I clicked update (it took a while)  When playbook started back up it had me going through all the start up procedure (choosing language etc.  Turns out I lost all my camera pictures.  The icon is still there but the only pictures in there are wallpaper pics that come with the playbook.  It's like it did a wipe but I did not have to enter my wifi network, or password.  Those were still there, just my pictures and contacs were missing.  This happen to anyone else, and is there any way I can get my pictures back.  I could not back them up as I could not connect to my PC.  Very frustrating as you should not lose your files by doing an update.

After spending nearly 10 hours recording unique and no longer available audio data on my blackberry playbook i connected it to my desktop in order to back it up and move the audio files off of the playbook for transcription. The desktop software would not allow me to do a back up and told me that there was an update to the playbook software which i should download and install.
I complied.  The result was that the playbook update in fact replaced my former playbook software and deleted all applications and all personal data including settings,  book marks, notations, writings, files, saved emails, and most importantly photos and videos which were taken with the playbook of my children in irreplaceable moments and of course finally, the audio files that i had created over a 10 hour period earlier this week.
I have a back up that i then restored from which is a few months old; however all of my current work is lost.
On top of my current problem with this playbook and my lost files, I am also sitting here staring at my first Bold 9900 which is bricked and inoperable. ATT wont replace it and Blackberry wont touch it.  ....and of course there was my first Playbook which i bought on Day 1 of the launch for full price, it too failed and i lost dozens and dozens of files.  Having to send it back to RIM and go through a legnthy RMA process in which they fumbled and broke promisees made....
I have 3 tablets, 2 operational 9900 bolds and have been using Blackberry for 9 generations of models going back to the 1990s. I have my family on the platform as well.
Loyal or Stupid?  Not quite sure as I sit here staring at this playbook which has just thrown a giant monkey wrench into my work.
I have defended Blackberrys recent missteps to the CIO's, CTO's. Lawyers, Judges, Friends and Family on 3 continents in private and in public.
But now. I am DONE with this company and it's products.
I will continue with my corporate Bold 9900 as long as i have no other choice, but will move to BYOD as soon as i am able.  I will disengage all my personal and family Blackberry devices and will move to another platform.
As much as I hate to join the ranks of Apple or Google, RIM has left one of it's most loyal fans no other choice but to abandon this sub par technology.  To allow a simple update to the Tablet Operating system to destroy my work as well as any remaining confidence in the engineering capabilities of this company which Canada was so proud of is nothing short of astonishing.
For all of those out there that have had similar experiences, i feel for you. But do not allow your data to be vulnerable to these technical land mines. You wont see them until you step on one.

  • Iphoto lost pictures after import

I just uploaded a couple thousand pictures form my iphone into iphoto. after completion, I clicked to have the imported photos deleted from the phone. During the deletion process, iphoto froze and I had to force quit the program. Now, I cant find my pictures in iphoto, and most of the pictures were deleted from the phone before the program froze.
any Idea's on how to find/get these pictures? I appriciate any help. thanks.

If the photos are in the library but not recognized by iPhoto there are a couple of things you can try.
Make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
If both of these fail try this third method:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1. Open the library package like this.
    2. Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    3. Drag the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the open iPhoto Library package into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events (but not necessarily the same Event names) as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.  Hopefully it will pick up those "missing" photos and include them in the import.
Note:  your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
