Lost pictures and videos

I downloaded the new OS5 on my iphone 4 and lost all of my photos and videos, how do I get them back?

Restore the phone using the last backup made of the phone.
If they were not backed up, then they really are gone.

  • IPhone didn't sync correctly, lost pictures and videos

Today I sync'd my phone before doing a restore. The sync went fine as well as the restore. When I attempted to restore my phone from the back up, it showed that it was last sync'd at 12:54PM which sounds about right when I sync'd it last. Well the issue is that when I restored it from that file, none of the stuff I backed up was there. The most recent texts in that backup were from July 17th, but some of the camera roll photos were from two weeks ago. My dilemma? I had been on vacation the last few days and took some photos and videos, which are now lost. I went into username/roaming/apple computer/mobilesync/backup (i'm using vista) and it looks like a backup was created today but the data in the backup has a creation data of July 17th which coincides with the text messages in that backup. I wanted to know if there is anyone who knows of a method to retrieve my lost files. I used a friends Mac to open the .mddata files in where the backups are located but there are probably 400 files to go through. I called Apple and they really didn't help other than "compensating" me for my lost files. That does not get the files back though. I would really appreciate any help towards getting these files back. If you guys need any more of an explanation let me know. Thank you.

    Hi,
Try Resetting the Sync History from the iSync applications preference window as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23030

  • After installing 1.0.8 lost pictures and videos despite back-up of playbook

Hey, smarter BB users than me... I just updated to the new 1.0.8 OS.  Prior to installing, I backed up my machine.  Then downloaded and attempted to install 1.0.8.  My machine froze in the middle and I had to have BB support walk me through a reload of the new OS.  My pictures/videos were on my BB playbook prior to the second install and after the backup.  Once the new OS was installed I had no pictures/videos.  I restored the original back-up from before the freeze and I still don't have any pictures/videos.  BB tells me this is a non-compatibility issue and will be resolved by February? (hope, hope).  Meanwhile, does anyone know anyway for me to retrieve these photos/videos from the back-up?  They do not appear in my desktop in the pictures/videos libraries as the prior photos do. My windows 7 told me it couldn't open .bbb files when I tried to open the entire back-up.  Anyone, a little help...please?  My kid's swim vidoes are on here and she came in first place, I'd really like them back, before February......

  • HT4623 lost all my pictures and videos while updating ios7.1.1. i dont have backup to restore. how can i recover the data back?

lost all my pictures and videos while updating ios7.1.1.
i dont have backup to restore. how can i recover the data back?

You should never update without making sure that you have saved everything on your computer first.
You should import all pics and vids before attempting any update.
If you have failed to save the data, then it is gone

  • I lost all of my pictures and videos as a result of upgrading to IOS 5. Can I recover them?

OK, so I lost all of the pictures and videos from the camera roll on my wife's ipod touch.  This occured after upgrading it to IOS 5. I did a system recover in itunes and that didnt help.  I downloaded iExplorer and went through the folders; found nothing.  I have a feeling that all hope is lost.  I'm not tech-savvy and should have known better by backing stuff up before upgrading.  Just didnt think about it, because after every other upgrade, nothing disappeared.  Well, just thought I would post here in case anyone else had any other suggestions.  Thanks.

If you have a Mac this may work.

  • HT5622 I lost my phone in Regina, Saskatchewan and had my same number to my new phone I purchased in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. All my contacts, text messages, and a few pictures and videos automatically transferred to my new phone how get latest pics

My phone number is same as phone that was lost. When the rep from Bell in Moose Jaw, sask all my contacts, text messages, and only some of my pictures and videos came through but, not all of them, it loaded my oldest pictures and videos. I want the latest pictures and videos, how do I do that? I also purchased 15 GB Icloud storage, when I go into the "Manage Storage" at the bottom of screen it says 12.1 GB available of 15.0 GB on icloud the processing bar has only moved slightly and just stays that way. What do I do to get all my pictures and videos?

On your iPhone tap Settings > iCloud
Make sure Photo Stream is switched on.
iCloud does not store videos. Images only.

  • Bloggie lost all pictures and video taken before new year.

Somehow, the bloggie lost all pictures and video I have taken before Jan 1, 2011. I know I did not delete any of pictures on this camera, but the crossover of the Jan 1, 2011 seems remove all old pictures. Why? It must be a software bug or something.
I bought my bloggie from HBC Canada, The Bay, in December, 2010.
    My Bloggie has 8GB memory.
Any idea? Do you have the same problem with your Sony Bloggie?

Check to see if you have the full space available on the bloggie - if they really are completely missing then there are many 3rd party file recovery programs out there, some free, that can be used to recover accidentally deleted or corrupted files. In this circumstance you also have to be very careful - to increase the likelihood of being able to recover the photos and video after they have been deleted don't save any new photos, files or data to your bloggie until you've made the recovery attempt.

When you restore an iPhone the first step is a backup of the phone. She should be able to restore that backup.
Connect the phone to the computer, click on its name in iTunes, and click "Restore backup".
If she had backed up her phone to a different computer the pictures would be in the backup on that computer. If she had turned on iCloud backup on the phone the pictures would be in the iCloud backup. If she had enabled Photo Stream on the iPhone the images would be in Photo Stream. If she had transferred the photos and video to her computer as you would with any digital camera by connecting the phone to a computer and importing the images and video they would be on that computer. If she did none of these things and there is a problem with the backup that was made automatically when she did the Restore then they are lost.

  • My phone keeps looping, powering up and powering down and continues the process.  I do not want to restore my phone where it will cause my pictures and video to be lost.

First, a comment: this process ***** because I am typing my question in various screens for the fifth time.
    QUESTION:

Is your device jailbroken? Have you backed up your device recently?

  • Updated iPad2 to iOS 6 and lost all pictures and videos

I updated my roomate's iPad 2 days ago, following the instructions of a friend with years of Apple experience.
He explained that I would need to install iTunes on my laptop (a newer Asus running Win7) and that just plugging the iPad in would start an automatic process of backing up and updating.
Being from the PC world, I wanted to make sure we would be safe. I asked if I needed to copy pictures to my laptop or pc first, and he said that iTunes defaults to backing up first, then running the update.
Of course this makes sense, but erring on caution, I was very specific in wanting to make absolutely sure.
So I get the laptop ready. I plug in the iPad, it's immediately discovered and a window pops up saying there is an update for the iPad, and would I like to update now.
I pressed the button yes, or ok, I don't remember exactly what the vernacular was.
The lengthy process began.... with a status bar and activity..... took about 20 minutes.
After it was done, it said so. I don't remember the dialog box wording at that point exactly.
I pushed the home button on the iPad and it had the normal grey lock screen, opened it, and all of her apps were there, her email showed she had email,
but when i looked in the pictures folder, it was empty.
Thought perhaps they would appear later from iTunes. ( I didn't know at this point that she had never backed up or used iTunes for anything other than the initial activation and for her old iPhone that died several months ago)
Called my Apple friend, he said maybe I unplugged the iPad before it was able to restore things to the iPad.
So I started iTunes, attached the iPad , right clicked on "Tiffany's ipad" and went into the Backup section. There it says that the iPad was never backed up on this computer in bold text. And the option to restore from backup is grayed out.
I call my expert friend again. He has me look for backup files on the laptop, utilizing an application called 'iExplore'. went to 'device' section and there is a box that will show all backup files found on the pc. That box was empty.
What's tragic, is, this poor lady, unbeknownst to me, had been using her iPad as a picture and video dump for ALL of her child's pictures and vids for over a year. Without telling me. She is not a technical person.
Had I known this, I would have backed it up manually myself, before the update and all along. I would have made her do it. But I had no idea. I assumed she was plugging it in to her Dell Laptop.. but she never did.
I've run 2 'recovery' programs I got from online that scan for deleted files, but they don't show any of the hundreds of pictures and videos she had, Im sure because it was wiped, not deleted.
All attempts to locate a large backup file on my laptop have come up empty.
She is extremely and unbelievably broken up about this, as am I. I'm furious with Apple for not making the BACKUP stage of the process more tenacious, and with more pop up warnings so that this kind of thing cannot happen. Had I seen that, I would have used an application to MANUALLY copy her stuff.... even though at the time I had NO IDEA she was using her iPad as her ONLY repository for all of her precious media.
Folks, this is a life changing horror for her, and me. I love this woman's little boy as my own, and as a single mom, she was depending on me as a friend in this matter. If I cannot retrieve these images and vids, I fear she will never forgive me, as I'm the 'tech guy' who always has had the answers for everything in the past, and failed her on the most important tech issue in her life, her little boy's life in pictures.
Please, where can I send this iPad for forensic recovery of these images.
I've powered the iPad down until further notice to avoid writing additionally on the internal flash memory.
    Thanks,
    Lu Johnson

Doesn't sound like you have iCloud? If not, then no, you are out of luck....

  • Here's the thing guys...I upgraded my iPad from 6.0.1 to 6.1.3 then to 7.0 without backing up the files so I lost all my pictures and video, some precious family moments, so I'm wondering is there anyway to recover them,by any means that is?

I'm seriously in a pinch here...plz help me out people...those are too valuable to me...

If you didn't get everything back you can try recovery-android.com. It works with ipads. There's a free trial so if you didn't get back all your pictures and videos you took after your backup last month, you might want to give it a try.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I save pictures and videos taken on my i-phone to my pc or backup storage device?

Hello, I am trying to save my pictures and videos that I have taken on my i-phone to my computer or some sort of backup device.  I am afraid in case my i-phone is lost or broken that I will have no permanent record of precious family footage.  What about saving these to a jump drive or disc as well. Thanks for your help.

You can connect your iPhone to your computer and a Autoplay dialogue box will pop up, select 'import pictures and videos'.  Follow the prompts and this will transfer your pictures and videos to your computer.
Alternatively, if your iPhone is updated with IOS 5, you can activate iCloud account on your iPhone, turn on 'Photo Stream', then install iCloud control panel onto your computer and sign in with your iCloud account and turn on photo stream.

  • My daughters itouch was stolen today...is there any actions i can or should be taking so that all the pictures and videos she has taken can be deleted?

My daughters itouch was stolen today...is there any actions i can or should be taking so that all the pictures and videos she has taken can be deleted?

Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod.  If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number).  If any passwords are associated with a bank or any other savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The "Find my..." function is pretty much useless if the device is in the hands of a thief.  All that is necessary is for the thief to connect to any computer with iTunes and "Restore as new."
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself.  This requires action before the device is lost/stolen.  If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries.
