Lost pictures from installing back up

I had a previous problem with my iphone and had to use a back up in itunes that was created 2 weeks earlier. I accidentally started syncing all of the pictures in my computer with my phone and ran out of room. Now the pictures and videos that were taken with my phone over the past couple of months are gone, They are not on the computer or the phone.

They are only where you put them.  If they were on the computer, then you deleted them.  They do not disappear as part of the sync process.
Syncing also has no affect on the pictures in the camera roll as it never syncs.

  • Can I retrieve a lost calendar from a back-up?

Lost Calendar: I have an 8 GB MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011) processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and 16 GB iPhone 5s with iOS 8.1.3. I am using Calendar version 8.0. About a week ago my primary calendar which I share with my husband just went missing from computer, my phone and his phone. He noticed it. I was not aware of doing ANYTHING that would have deleted this calendar, nor did I have any warning that I might be deleting it. I attempted to restore from a back-up but do not have the expertise required if it is even possible.

  • HT201269 How can i see the pictures from the back up  in my pc?

I wonder if it is possible to see the pictures from my phone in the computer after I have done the Back up?

    No.
you should be importing all pics taken with the iphone to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.
The backup is only used for restoring the info to your iphone.

  • Successfully imported pictures from camera, backed up on external hard drive but now there is no sign of the pictures on hard drive or Iphoto...PLEASE HELP???

I successfully imported 2 photo shoots from my camera.
Once imported, as always, I saved the photos onto my external hard drive.
Normally I would also keep the images on my camera until I have finished the job and handed the finished product to the customer although on this occasion I had to delete them due to an extensive shoot and the need for space.
Last night I was hoping to start editing the shots so opened up my hard drive to find the 2 folders there but both were empty! I then opened up Iphoto and I can't locate them anywhere. My library only seems to date back to July. Could this mean my Iphoto is full so has not saved the images and they are now lost forever???
I've checked all my trash cans etc to ensure they haven't been accidentally deleted and they haven't.
    Please help?!?!?!
    Many thanks in advance
    Damsel in utter distress! x

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Lost pictures from book

I would sure appreciate some help on this. We build a book on Sunday and when we looked at it today all of the photos are gone! What could have made that happen? How do I get them back. We still have the photos in Events, so I cant understand where they went from the book. We laid out 98 pages and the layouts are there just not the pics.

    Ragmore:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Unless you have a backup copy of either the iPhoto LIbrary package of the Library6.iPhoto database file made at a time when the book was fully populated with the pictures you're out of luck. The dB file is where all of the book (and other items like cards, calendars, etc.) information is kept. What apparently has happened is that the dB file was damaged somehow and didn't keep the book information.
To prevent this type of loss in the future see the tip at the end of my signature below. Use the application like you would use the Save command in a text editor, frequently after changes have been made. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, only idle. I keep it in the Dock and click on it after every import or change to a book, card, etc.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Lost pictures from restore backup button...help?

    hi everyone,
TOday I tried to back up my iphone to my husband's computer to back up to my Hd. I was soooo stupid but to make it short and clear I restored my husbands iPhone stuff to my iPhone so it replaced everything to my iPhone and I lost all my photos and videos of my children! Is there any way to recover it? We tried to go on iCloud but I don think I set iCloud so the photos weren't there...ugh all the half year worth of videos..:(
does anyone know any other restore options?

Have you not been importing them to your computer regularly?
If not, then they are very likely gone.
You should be syncing your iPhone regularly.  If you have done this, then you may be able to restore from the last backup that you have and retrieve something.

  • Lost pictures from iOS6 Update

Hi, I just updated iOS6 on my iPhone 4s and lost all of my pictures! Is there any way I can get them back?

I rebooted and nothing. It says "restoring" but has said so for hours. I have some older photos in camera roll but albums are all gone. I upgraded Sunday and it is Tuesday. Perhaps I need to be in Photos on the phone and wait.
In the meantime, I am syncing my phone to my MacBook Pro to get the photos back.

  • Lost pictures from restore from backup

I had to use the restore from backup feature due to contact being lost from some reason, but at the same time lost pictures

If the pictures were in the backup, they should have been restored. If you had pictures on the phone that were not in your last backup and had not been imported to the computer prior to the restore, then they are lost.

  • Upload pictures from Iphoto back to camera?

Have tried uploading photos back to my memory card from Iphoto using the export command - unable to do so.
When my memory card from card reader shows up as "untitled hard drive", I begin exporting and notice it does not complete the process and when checking the memory card - no photos have been downloaded. The message shown is: "unable to create volume/untitled." I am trying to upload these pictures as IPhoto will not allow me to transfer pictures for printing to any photo printing site. I am running a G5 with dial-up and the system has all current updates. I want to upload these photos simple to bring the card in to a store to get prints. Thanks in advance -

    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    JJbt,
Export from iPhoto to a folder on your desktop. Then use the Finder to copy from the desktop folder to your camera card. It may help to move the entire folder, as some cards won't accept more than a few files at the root level. Or try to mimic the folder structure that the camera creates in the card, and place the exports in the folder that the camera would usually create for them.

  • IPhoto lost pictures from library

    Greetings all.
    I'm running OSX 10.9.2
    and iPhoto 9.5.1
I do regular back ups and when I updated 2 days ago and then opened up iPhoto there are only a few seemingly random pictures left.
Upon searching my computer with finder for .jpg files I can find all my photo files still on the computer showing up under Desktop>Preview>(Master or thumbnail)>Then files are broken into files based on date.
How can I re-establish these files in the iPhoto library?
    Thanks all!!

    Ok... Here's something weird now.
I'm attempting to do the backup and it is showing my iphoto library as "Preview"
The "Preview" when selected selects as an iphoto library and contains the 20+GB of data consistent with my photos.
Why would it call it preview and not iPhoto library?

  • Lost pictures from external HDD

    Hello,
I created a new iPhoto Library on an external HDD. I had about 16 GB of photos there. I found the library blank (0 bytes) today. When I am trying to open the location from iPhoto nothing happens.
I have Maverick 10.9.2, iPhoto 9.5.1, the external HDD is ExFAT formatted.
I tried to use the Disc Utility to repair the disc, it appeared to be OK. I tried to rebuild iPhoto previews (cmd*alt at iPhoto start) and it did not help.
Could you give me any advice, please?
    Regards
    Frank

I have Maverick 10.9.2, iPhoto 9.5.1, the external HDD is ExFAT formatted.
ExFAT is your problem. iPhoto requires the iPhoto Library to be on a drive formatted MacOS Extended (Journaled).
See these documents:  iPhoto: Issues with FAT32-formatted drives
and Format external drives to Mac OS Extended before using with Aperture(or iPhoto)
I created a new iPhoto Library on an external HDD. I had about 16 GB of photos there. I found the library blank (0 bytes) today. When I am trying to open the location from iPhoto nothing happens.
What probably has happened is, that you created the library on that drive, but iPhoto could not write to it and wrote the image files to a temporary storage.   Check, if iPhoto created a new library in your Pictures folder instead. Did you reboot your Mac, since you imported the photos? If not, wait, unti you have checked the Caches and temporary directories, before you restart your mac, because that will erase any temporary files.

  • Find lost pictures from my disk app

I pluged my iphone to a different computer and by mistake syncronised it. In the process I lost many apps but worst is all the privet document I had stored in the "My Disk" app. Does any one knows how I can get those document back?
    Thanks

No, unless you have a backup.
iPhone sync only with one computer. Syncing with another will delete iPhone content and replace with the new iTunes library.

  • Restoring Lost Application From Install Disc?

Okay, TextEdit went and got irrecoverably corrupted, so I deleted it under the assumption I could just download it individually from the system install disc, considering most of the applications that come with OS X can be restored that way, but I search the install discs and I can't see it anywhere. I'm not about to do a reinstallation just for TextEdit. I did find 2 installation packages, one labelled "Essentials.pkg", and "More Essentials.pkg". I'm wondering if TextEdit might be in one of those packages, unfortunately neither say what's being installed when I open them up, it just states it will perform a check and install whatever it deems necessary. Wonderful. I appreciate how Apple tries to make things "just work", but it's nice to know how it works instead of being kept in the dark.
Any hints or suggestions? I know I can just get a copy from a friend, but it'd be nice to know in the future there's a way I can do it from my system discs.

You will need a utility called Pacifist to extract what you want and install it on your Mac.
