Lost pictures from restore backup button...help?

hi everyone,
TOday I tried to back up my iphone to my husband's computer to back up to my Hd. I was soooo stupid but to make it short and clear I restored my husbands iPhone stuff to my iPhone so it replaced everything to my iPhone and I lost all my photos and videos of my children! Is there any way to recover it? We tried to go on iCloud but I don think I set iCloud so the photos weren't there...ugh all the half year worth of videos..:(
does anyone know any other restore options?

Have you not been importing them to your computer regularly?
If not, then they are very likely gone.
You should be syncing your iPhone regularly.  If you have done this, then you may be able to restore from the last backup that you have and retrieve something.

  • Lost pictures from restore from backup

I had to use the restore from backup feature due to contact being lost from some reason, but at the same time lost pictures

If the pictures were in the backup, they should have been restored. If you had pictures on the phone that were not in your last backup and had not been imported to the computer prior to the restore, then they are lost.

  • HT4859 i want to access pictures from a backup only! not restore a device, how do i do this?

I need to get acess to a backup, as in WHAT it backed up in terms of pictures. I do not want or need to restore a device, just access picturs.

It is not possible to examine specific data stored in an iCloud backup, except by restoring it to your device.  If backing up with iTunes, it's possible to use 3rd party software to extract data from a backup, but not with iCloud backups.

  • How can i take pictures from a backup file

I attempted to update my ipod today (finally) and i was surprised to find the update would fail with error 9
in order to get around this, i had to restore my ipod touch, which erased all data such as apps, music, and pictures
the music i had all backed up, and have already replaced on my ipod, however i was smart enough to back up all of the ipod's contents before i did the restore, specifically so i would be able to get the pictures off of the backup, and put them on the freshly updated ipod
my question is, how would i get these pictures from the outdated backup, and put them on the updated ipod, without restoring the entire backup and ending up back where i started. I attempted to use a third party program already, however the program would not open.
    much help plz

    no
You should be importing them regularly as you would with any digital camera.

    1. Create a backup of your iPad to iTunes on your computer or to iCloud
    2. Transfer any and all photos & videos on your iPad to your computer.
    3. Erase the iPad and restore the iPhone's iCloud backup to the device.
    4. Transfer any and all photos & videos on your iPad to your computer.
    5. Restore the iPad backup you reated in step #1 back to the iPad.

  • Is there a way to get pictures from another backup?

I want to restore my iPod from a backup but at the same time I don't. I know in order to restore from backup you have to erase all content and settings. However, I have a lot of pictures on my ipod that I don't want to be erased; I have those pictures backed up I just want to know if there is a way to get the pictures from my earliest backup onto my ipod without going through all of that.

Restoring a backup is all or nothing, and if it's an iCloud backup, it requires you to erase the device in order to restore it.  What you can do is back up your device to your computer using iTunes (connect it to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of it in iTunes, then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases and File>Devices>Back Up).  Then you can restore the backup you want (see iCloud: Restore your iOS device from iCloud), then import the recovered photos to your computer (see iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer), then restore the iTunes backup you made earlier (File>Devices>Restore from Backup).  If you want the photos back on your device, put them in a folder and sync them to your device by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

  • Recovering lost photos from a backup

    Hello
I can't seem to find some photos I was working on yesterday.
Loaded question I know, but can I find a copy of just that series of photos within the backup file? Or does a restore just overwrite the current catalog. With the backed up catalog.
Made some edits to the photo yesterday and made some test prints. Slept on it and decided to make some further changes to that photo today. Of course now I can't find that series. I am sure I did something that caused this, but don't know what or how I made this mistake. I don't really want to restore an entire catalog if that can be avoided.
    - Can I restore just one group of photos from a backup file?
Thanks in advance for any help I can get!
    Cheers,

but can I find a copy of just that series of photos within the backup file?
We don't know, it depends on how you made the backups. If the backup photos are found, you can use them, depending on the next item.
The backups were made with Lightroom. It is set to backup each time it closes.
Made some edits to the photo yesterday and made some test prints. Slept on it and decided to make some further changes to that photo today. Of course now I can't find that series. I am sure I did something that caused this, but don't know what or how I made this mistake. I don't really want to restore an entire catalog if that can be avoided.
Let's take a step backwards. Have you searched your Lightroom catalog using the Lightroom search functions and not using your eyeballs? In other words, have you asked Lightroom to search every photo in the catalog for a specific file name that you were working on? You really ought to do that first before you even consider restoring backups.
So, you need to do all of these, in order
Click on All Photographs in the Catalog Panel
Turn off filters (Ctrl-L or Cmd-L) once or twice
Expand all stacks, use Photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks
Search for a specific photo by file name in the Filter Bar
Yes I have used the unstacking/search function on all photos to no avail.
You keep talking about a backup file, is this the catalog file, or is it a FOLDER (not a file) of backups of your original photos? If it is a FOLDER (not a file) of backups of your original photos, then yes you could use that depending on the results of the search.
The backup creates a catalog file.

  • How to get iPhone pictures from iTunes backup

I had an iPhone4 that was physically crushed. My company replaced the phone with an non-iPhone. I was good about using iTunes to back the phone up. How do I retrieve the pictures that were taken with my iPhone and was backed up using iTunes? I wasn't using iCloud. I didn't see an obvious way. Are my pictures on my computer but "lost" forever?

After searching Apple Support, and just playing around with iTunes, I finally found a solution!
When in iTunes, click edit, and then select 'Add To Library'. I selected pictures from iPhoto, and since then, I've been able to manage my photos, and sync them to my iPhone once again!

  • How do I download pictures from icloud backup to a new device

I just bought a new iPad yesterday because my iPhone was stolen a few weeks ago.  That phone was backed up to iCloud.  How do I get the pictures from iCloud back up to my new iPad?  I heard there is a short time period to retrieve them and I may be out of luck but need to try.  Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank you for helping me.  Technology is not my strong suit.  I will explain how I got into this situation and then maybe there is another way to recover these photos:
I finally decided to upgrade my unlocked Canadian iPhone 3 to a 4S here in California.
The AT&T store personnel had a hard time getting the photos from the 3 to the 4S directly so they downloaded the photos from the 3 onto a computer and then to the 4S.  I apologize, I'm not sure how to see if the photos are in the Photo Stream but I know they were on the Camera Roll.
After getting home, I was having issues downloading from iTunes. I think it was because the 3 was originally from Canada so the 4S kept sending me to the Canadian iTunes store when trying to log on.  We decided to wait and take the phone to an Apple store to get help however the phone was stolen shorty thereafter.
A couple of days ago we bought an iPad and thought we should try and recover the photos from that phone.  We had some friends who live in Canada access the account and switch it over to recognize that it is a US account.
My wife did set up iCloud on the 4S.  So we assumed the phone was backing up everything, including the Camera Roll, when charging.  Possibly not so.
My wife is pretty sure the photo stream was on as we didn't change any of the settings after getting it.
I would appreciate an ideas you may have.
    Thank you & kind regards,
    Doug

  • Can i retrieve lost pictures with metadata backup?

A few months ago I "cleaned up" iPhoto so I could use it solely for my portfolio of work. My personal pics I saved to my external HDD [Western Digital MyBook] and removed them from my Mac's hdd.
I recently discovered that pics I thought were saved to my external hdd have gone missing. since they were not on my mac or in the recent iphoto library. However, I do still have the previous metadata back up folder on the hdd. It contains the following: Folder name: iPhoto Library_2 - albumdata.xml; albumdata2.xml; iphoto.ipspot and metadata backup. Can I use this to retrieve the pics?

Did you delete the pics, or you just can't find them on your iPad?
If you deleted them, they are gone as there is no Trash Can or Recycke Bin. If you have a backup, retrieve the pics from your backup.
     Cheers, Tom

  • My iphone 4 wont restore my pictures from my backup.  I never uploaded them to the computer so this is a big deal.

I have tried to restore from my Iphone 4 from my last back up and other back ups to see if it would help.  Nothing seemed to work to get my media back.  I really need my pictures because i have not backed them up on my computer

The backup only saves the iPads own camera roll.  You should have backed up your other photo's into whatever application you use for photo's on your computer.  If you did not back them up somewhere, they are gone.
This articel will tell you exactly what is backed up: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4946
