Lost playlists in synch with cloud

Created a genius playlist on the computer, turned off imatch, and turned on imatch, but no matter what I do, the playlists from the phone are gone. All of them? And they won't come back no matter what approach I try. Rebooted phone and laptop, waited a day, nothing.
Any thoughts?

i have spent the morning reading posts in this forum. I finally decided to download Yamipod to retrieve my playlists. When I went to open this 3rd party software product, it claims that I am using an unidentified version of ITunes and speculates that my version of itunes may be the newest version. It then goes on to say that my data could be lost if I elect to proceed.
Are there any of you knowledgeable IPod people out there that can suggest a course of action?

You can see which devices are using find my phone at iCloud.com > Find my phone. If your MacBook isn't shown there, you should be able to add it at system preferences > iCloud, by turning find my phone on.

  • Synching with cloud services causes conflict

When working/or saving any iwork document (latest versions) in my macbook pro running either box.com sync software or cloud station sync software, I frequently get the message "This spreadsheet was changed in another application." I can choose to "revert" or "save anyway". Unfortunately, "revert" is the default choice meaning I can easily lose information if I accidently hit return. I understand that the software that syncs to these cloud services is not able to handle the format of the latest iworks documents but does anyone know a work around here? In my experience, dropbox doesn't have this problem.

A Numbers document is actually better thought of not as a file, but as a "package" containing many files, optimized for rapid sync. If you haven't done so already, you might check out a little more how iCloud works with Numbers. They're tightly integrated. The idea seems to be to have nearly instantaneous saving and backup and sync to other devices without the user having to worry about those things. Among the benefits, other than making life easier for most users, are opportunities for collaboration across the net.  The idea of turning off autosave would work in the opposite direction.
It's a little like having a car that already has been designed with a built-in automatic transmission that works well, and saying, I don't want to use that original design. Instead I want to be able to just change the gears by myself. Manual transmissions do have their advantages. But the car has to designed that way in the first place. Having some kind of hybrid that is automatic with an option to switch to manual might be possible (you could suggest this to Apple via your menu Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback) but it might well end up complicating the user experience and not be a reliable design.

  • HT201269 can i transfer my iPod playlist that was synched with some else's Mac account to my PC & new iTunes account?

Here's my problem (and take into account I am not technically savvy). I use my iPod nano every day and have an extensive playlist, but my iPod nano is synched with a friend's Mac and under her account, and she has moved out of the area I live in. I downloaded iTunes for Window (7) onto my PC and opened my own account. How do I transfer my playlist from my iPod nano under my friend's Mac account (and there's no way to contact her) to my PC and my own iTunes account? I was told to first "unsynch" my iPod from her Mac using Senuti or Export on my PC, but I cannot find a free version of either program, and don't want to download a free program from a website that may be unreliable. From there, I'm totally lost. So, I basically want to know if this can be done, because I have to hire a technician at my local Apple store to do this whole process for me (I'm terrified of losing my playlist) and want to keep the costs down (they charge $40 per half hour and money is tight for me). I also want to back up my playlist, and looked into creating a Cloud account, but it says to synch my iPod with Cloud first, and I don't dare to try that on my own, so I guess I'll have to pay for the techs to do it. Is there another way to store my playlist, such as a flash drive? Still, I don't dare to touch anything on my iPod without face-to-face technical support. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thank you!

    This is not legal.
The music purchased with your friends account or owned by your friend does not belong to you and she has no legal right to distribute it to you.

Error (-42404) SOLUTION - for Vista
Uninstall everything Apple as per Apple Forum "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 for Vista". Be the administrator to ensure you have acces to folders and files which you may need to check.  This is the solution that worked for Vista, but I read the solution for Win 7 is almost identical.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you are referring to the first generation Apple TV, then you cannot sync content which is stored on its hard drive back to iTunes.

  • I just bought an ipod classic and synched with itunes.  The main part showed up on ipod but not the playlists.  How can I get playlist to appear on ipod.  Thanks!

I bought a new ipod classic.  When attempting to synch it made me update itunes to the latest version (there may be a more current one now.)  I did this and when I synched to ipod everything showed up except the playlists.  How do I get the playlist to synch to ipod as well?  Thanks!

Connect it to your computer and restore it as a new device. Then chose what music you want to sync with it and do so just like your Touch does.

  • HT201317 If I lost my Iphone 5 with I cloud can I get back my photo when I buy another iPhone 5

If I lost my Iphone 5 with I cloud can I get back my photo when I buy another new iPhone 5?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Only if you made a backup of the old iPhone which includes the photos you had stored in Camera Roll (if the photo you want to restore is there) or if the photo was stored in Photo Stream. In both of the cases, you will be able to get back the photo, but note that Photo Stream deletes photos 30 days after adding them

I lost my iphone, got a new sim card and put it in my boyfriend's old iphone. When I synch it in itunes it will only synch with his stuff and not mine. Any ideas how I can get it to synch with my itunes??

Are you using a Mac? It sounds like you are using his computer to sync to. If this is the case, then it will sync to all of his stuff unless a new user is created with your personal stuff on it.
When you want to sync your iPhone to that computer, switch to your user first, and then everything will sync with your stuff. If he wants to hook up his iPhone to sync it, then he needs to switch back to his own username first.

  • With imatch, can I build playlists and synch to my nano as I would with main computer? Also, can you synch nike plus workouts via imatch successfully?

With imatch, can I build playlists and synch to my nano as I would with main computer? Also, can you synch nike plus workouts via imatch successfully?

The Nano cannot connect to iCloud to download iMatch songs, playlists, etc. and iMatch is only for music you own it does not work with Nike plus.

  • HT1386 Lost iPhone 4, bought iPhone 5, would like to transfer backup from last synch with computer but don't have the password

Lost iPhone 4, bought iPhone 5, would like to transfer backup to new iPhone 5 from last synch with computer but don't have the password.

What password? Did you encrypt your backup & now can't remember the encrypted backup passcode? If so, no, you won't be able to use that backup. If on a Mac, & you elected to save the passcode to your Keychain, you can recover it from that. Otherwise, you'll have to delete the backup. The data is unrecoverable.
Or, are you talking about the iPhone passcode?

  • "Synching" with new computer and maintaining playlists

I bought a new iMac in July, but continued to synch my iPhone4 with my older MacBook.  I would like to switch over to synching with the iMac, but don't want to lose my playlists, music files, etc, which are currently stored on the iPhone.  Is there a way to pull the playlists off the phone into the iMac?  (All of my music files are on an external 2TB drive that synchs that is available to all macs in the house via my airport network.  The other issue, which is slightly related, is that the MacBook's iTunes library recently changed itself and forgot where it's library was. In choosing the correct library, a lot of my playlists were gone and some of the music was also gone.  The MacBook has 3 hard drives (one internal; 2 external that are always on), 2 of which are bootable.  Booting from a different drive still doesn't pull up the iTunes library as it occurred a month ago.  I tried pulling it out of Time Machine, but it didn't work.  So, synching with the MacBook is also impossible, since again, my iPhone playlists will be erased.  So, how can I pull the music & playlists off of the iPhone before synching with the new computer? (I should reiterate that I am not in danger of losing the music, since it's all on the external music-server drive, but the playlists will all disappear.)

I never got a reply to this, but today, downloaded the App called PhoneView, which appears to do nearly everything I needed. Pretty cool.  Apple, I really wish you would make it easier to pull data and apps off an iPhone when synching with a new Mac.

  • IMac synch with Apple TV

I have an Apple TV with hard drive. Every time my iMac & iTunes synch with my Apple TV ( ATV ), it takes anything I have purchased from my ATV to the Mac and then "copies" it BACK to the ATV. However, when I try to play any content, it either tells me that I cannon play it because the "the selected video/content cannot play on your Apple TV" or is says "the selected video cannot be found"!
Has anyone else run into this issue? I have purchased music videos, TV programs, music & movies via my ATV but every time I try to synch it does this completely ludicrous "removing" from my ATV to the iMac and back only to never allow me to play anything once this happens. Then I have to do a download all over again to my Apple TV. Worse still, I have been getting charged time and again for content I purchased already!

Thank you for your response. I did disable the auto synch however, whenever I want to put new music on my apple tv ( I purchase new music cd's every month ) I must synch it. Even if I disable the synch it tells my apple TV to not allow me to use purchased content on my apple TV when I turn this off, so I must allow it. And I have the old style apple TV to keep my content on because I have lost 2 hard drives in the past with all my music so I keep it on both of my devices. This trouble only started about 15 months ago when apple "updated" iTunes and has been like this ever since.
Also, since this ATV does not connect to the cloud even with the new software updates so it is impossible to download it from or to my Apple TV. I am therefore required to use the apple store for content redownload. This trouble has convinced me that I should have never purchased content in this fashion but to stick with buying and owning my own DVD's/Blueray & music cd's. Thank you again.
