Lost Playlists with upgrade

I recently upgraded to newest version of itunes.  Now I can't see my 14 playlists on Itunes that show up currently on my Ipod classic.  If I sync, will the playlists go back to the itunes on my computer?  Thanks for the help.

I did a search for .itl files and found 13 of them.  Here are some of the most recent:
Name of file: iTunes Library located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes
size is 1766 KB and last modified on 4/17/13
This would seem to be the most recently modified file, and therefore the active library. This is the one you rename as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl - the name itself isn't important, just that you change it.
Name of file:  iTunes Library 2013-04-08 located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Previous iTunes Libraries
size is 4KB and last modified on 4/8/13
Name of file:  i Tunes Library located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\My Music\My Music\iTunes
size is 2151KB and last modified on 1/20/2013
This would seem to be the largest, most recent, alternative file, and therefore most likely to be your proper library. Copy it to C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl
Start iTunes, add the media folder to the library to add in recent imports, back up.

  • Lost Music with upgrade 9.2 - Found iTunes Database File???

When I upgraded to 9.2 itunes, I lost all the music I had downloaded from CD's. I found the itunes database file dated October 2007 in the Previous iTunes Library Folder. How do I get that music back on the itunes library dated August 2010 which was the date of the upgrade?? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Are you saying there wasn't an ITL file with a more recent date? There should be one from the date you upgraded to 9.2 if it is on the same PC and same windows userID.

  • Lost ringtones with upgrade

I cannot access my ringtones since the upgrade to OS 5 on my iphone 4.  They seem to sync with iTunes, but are not available as choices on the phone itself

    andahuailas,
I would recommend first searching your iTunes folder if you were able to recover it for .m4r, and dragging those songs into iTunes.
Some additional suggestions including contact information for the iTunes Store's customer service can be found on this page:

Just did the upgrade to ios6, lost utube I get its owned by google, but didn't expect that. I know I can u tube via safari, Problem is I can't use air play to stream videos via Apple TV to my big screen.  Very upset. How can I revert back?

First, there is no going back once you've gone to IOS 6 (firmware gets changed)
Youtube for iPad is NOT available yet however Google reports it will be once Apple approves the app.
you can upload Youtube for iPhone however it isn't a full screen app.

  • HT4623 Lost Apps with Upgrade to iOS7

I lost all my apps when I downloaded iOS7.  Does anyone know if they are somewhere on my phone (perhaps where I cannot access or immediately locate them - if so where?) or do I have to redownload them?

If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

  • Lost Tracks with upgrade

The new version of itunes has lost 2000 tracks. I've tried consolidating files and organizing my library but to no avail.
By looking at the number of files I can see that they are all still on my PC, located in my itunes music folder.
How can I get itunes to locate these files so I can see them in the library?

  • HELP! Lost Playlists, Lost Podcast, Lost iPod

I recently upgraded my system to 10.4.3 from 10.3.9. My Itunes library has always been on a different hard drive (disk#2) from my old start up disk(disk#1). I had to migrate everything to a new startup disk (disk#3) as well (out of room) before I upgraded the software. I used SuperDuper to copy everything from the old system and make it bootable, everything worked fine. Then I upgraded the system. ugh.
When I first started up iTunes, it did not have any of my songs there. So I went to preferences and chose the Itunes library from the second hard drive (disk#2) where it has always resided.
I discovered my music, but not my playlists nor my podcasts.
Then when I plugged my ipod in, Itunes doesn't recognize it and wants to erase it and restore the whole thing.
"This Ipod is synced with another Itunes Library and can not be synced with two Libaries, do you want to erase it and sync it?" But it is the same library - just a new system! This makes me nervous because it is the only place I can find my podcasts and playlists. So I how can I...
    1. Get my playlists back
    2. Get my podcasts back - especially audible subscriptions
    3. Update my ipod by getting the ipod or itunes to recognize that it is the same library!
    Any advice?
G4 Mac OS X (10.4.3) upgrading lost playlists, podcasts, ipod authorization etc..

    Hi,
I'm not exactly sure what to do about this, but after having 180 views, I think that you deserve some feedback.
I'm pretty sure that your new system recognizes that your iPod is set up for another system, which in this case, would be your 10.3.9. An iPod cannot be setup for two systems.
Also, did you log into your iTunes Music Store account? If so, you should be able to resuscribe to your podcasts without having to purchase them again.
As for your playlists, theres about a 99% chance that you can't retrieve them, because your hard drive #3 just recognizes it as audio files, and not a music library as you view it in iTunes with playlists. The only chance you have to get them back is to rebuild them.
I would suggest that you wipe your iPod and restore the music from your new library. If not all of your songs and podcasts and whatnot are on your hard drive #3, then there might be a way to get most of them off your iPod first. It's to much to explain right now, but ask if that seems to be the situation.
    Good luck!

  • Lost Playlists and Charged for Premium

I want to try and retrieve my playlist, went through instructions that were provided for recovery but nothing changed, still no playlist.  Also I'm on a Trial mode, upgraded to Premium and still not able to listen freely after being charged on my card. How do I recove my lost playlist and how can I upgrade without reinstalling again, I've done it twice already??? Azuri2

Hey there , welcome to the community!
Am I correct that you didn't receive the premium you payed for? If so, contact the payments team through the online contact form and they can definitely sort this out. • Restore lost playlists to Apple computer

How do I restore lost playlists?  I have an apple computer.

Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps youshouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl - start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See MusicFolder Files Not Added and Super Remove Dead Tracks for tools to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
