Lost podcast feed from mobileme. Help!

We somehow didn't realize that we had setup our podcast feed years ago on the .mac/mobileme account that just went away. Our podcast no longer shows up in iTunes, can't even search for it. Can't download old episodes from iTunes. Currently moving all of our stuff to squarespace and will use that and Feeder to manage podcast. How do I keep our old subscribers? Do I start from scratch? Can I give iTunes the new feed even though the old feed has disappeared.

It's possible that if you email podcasts 'at' apple.com and explain the situation - give them the ID number (or the Store page URL) and the URLs of both the old and new feeds - that they will reinstate the podcast using the new feed. There's no guarantee that they can or will do this, but you have nothing to lose by trying.
Failing that, you will have to start over from scratch, submitting the new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will need to change the title slightly or you will be told that it's already been submitted. You will not be able to retain your subscribers.

  • Need to move podcast feed from MobileMe hosting to DreamHost

I apologize if this has been covered, I could not find anything on the forum however to help. I currently host a podcast through MobileMe. I've created the podcast site through GarageBand/iWeb. I want to continue using the iWeb site, but host it on DreamHost (for reasons of disk space, etc). I have purchased a new domain name (talesfromthemousehouse.com) from DreamHost and wish to "migrate" the iWeb site to this new domain. Plus, I want to move the podcast feed along with it, so that all my old episodes etc goes to the new host, and the only thing my listeners will notice is that the site has a new address (www.talesfromthemousehouse.com). Now...I've yet to find anyone or anything that can properly help me, including Apple support. What I thought should be an easy task has turned out to be quite a nightmare. My podcast feed is: http://web.me.com/alkessel/Site_3/Podcast/rss.xml
Can anyone help? I know that (from the Apple podcast documentation), I need to insert some code <itunes:new-feed> or something, but WHERE? Nothing tells me HOW to access the stuff to edit in iWeb/MobileMe. I would love to get this done as soon as possible, any and all help is appreciated. Thanks! Al

I'm working with fairly minimal information here: as I understand it your original feed was
    http://web.me.com/alkessel/Site_3/Podcast/rss.xml
This feed does not contain the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag. Did you put a tag in it and then remove it?
iTunes shows your podcast in the Store at
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/tales-from-the-mouse-house/id371928528
However it's looking for a feed at http://talescast.com/ so presumably this is the URL you entered in the redirect tag?
However, it's not a feed - it's the Personal Domain referral to your web page at
    http://talescast.com/Site_4/Home.html
As this is a web page and not a feed, iTunes can't read it. You have now painted yourself into a corner: as you need to enter the redirect tag in a feed to get iTunes to redirect, and iTunes can't read a feed at the UTRL you gave it, you can't redirect it.
You now have only two options. The first is to abandon the old feed altogether. You should get the old podcast removed from the Store - instructions here - and submit your new feed as an entirely new podcast. You will probably need to make a small change in the title, as a bug in the Store software may tell you that the podcast has already been submitted: and of course you will lose any subscribers or comments.
The other option is somewhat uncertain. iTunes Support is notoriously unhelpful, often sending back form answers which often don't deal with the actual problem, or referring the questioner to the Discussions Forum (which may have sent the questioner there in the first place): however it has been known for someone to persuade Support to shift their podcast to a new URL, so it's worth trying. It's probably just a matter of luck who you get. To contact iTunes Support, go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'.

  • RSS feed from MobileMe to GoDaddy

    Hello,
Forgive me for asking this queston late in the game, but I previously made the switch from MobileMe to GoDaddy. Could somebody please confirm my new RSS feed with GoDaddy (or maybe I need assistance confirming my old feed)?
    Is the new feed
    http://www.warbirdshow.com/Warbird_Show/Warbird_Show/rss.xml
    Was my old feed
    http://web.me.com/warbirdshow/warbird_show/warbird_show/rss.xml
I don't do a lot of podcasting, but was trying to successfully transition from MobileMe to GoDaddy and save my 7 podcasts.
I realize I'm asking this late in the game, but any assistnce would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

http://web.me.com/warbirdshow/warbird_show/warbird_show/rss.xml - there is no file at this address.
http://www.warbirdshow.com/Warbird_Show/Warbird_Show/rss.xml - there is a feed at this address.
Your iTunes Store page is http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/warbird-show/id408763490
and it is indeed using the second feed, so you are all OK. Ideally the old feed should have been left in place for two weeks so that any subscribers could be seamlessly redirected when they checked the feed, but it's too late to worry about that. They would be able to re-subscribe from the Store page.

  • How can I transfer a podcast feeds from one itunes account to another?

For a couple of years we have been using a third party company to edit and submit our podcast feeds to itunes. They have been doing this using their own itunes account. After changing things round a little, I have now created an itunes account for our company and want to transfer the current live feeds from the other guys account to my new account but I have no idea how to do this. Although the guy is very good, I don't reckon he is that technical so I thought I may be able to get some assistance here.
    Any takers?
    Thanks

It's not currently possible to transfer an account's balance from one account to another account, nor to use it to gift items to another account. Also any content that was bought/downloaded via your account will remain tied to your account, so your account will need to be authorised on the computer that he will be syncing to, and only your account will be able to re-download that content and/or download updates to those apps.

  • ITunes podcast feed error - PLEASE HELP

I am in desperate need of help to figure out why my podcast feed isn't being accepted by iTunes. Can anyone review my feed and guide me as to what is going on:
    http://www.drinkswithlarryandlauren.com/media/podcast/dwll.xml
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Best,
    ND

Podcasts can be rejected for any number of reasons.
It looks to be a valid RSS feed. I noticed that you are not using any iTunes specific tags, such as <itunes:Category>, <itunes:explicit>, <itunes:duration>, etc... If you have explicit content, such as swearing, adult content, etc... and you do not include an <itunes:explicit>yes</itunes:explicit> tag it can be rejected.
Check out the iTunes tech spec for more info:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html
Look under "submission queue" for possible reasons for rejection. Also look at the example feed and iTunes RSS tags sections...

  • Removing podcast feed from the directory

    Hello,
I have read up on how to remove a feed from the directory, but when I go to the store the option "is mine and I want it removed from the Music Store" is not present. Why would this be? Is there another way to remove a feed.
Also I want to remove this feed and replace it with one that has a similar title at a different URL. I want to change it from theantenna to The Antenna.
    Will this be a problem?
    best,
    a

Correct. There is no option for "is mine and I want it removed"...There is an option for "remove podcast" and a text box to explain. However, it's still up to the iTunes staff to remove the podcast and they seem to be quite slow in doing so.
Also supposedly if the feed no longer exists, they should remove the podcast from the directory.
Also, as an alternative, you might consider using the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag in you old feed's XML file at the old location to change the URL of your existing podcast to the new one. Change the <title> in the XML to change the title of your podcast, iTunes will pick up the change the next time it updates.

  • HT5225 ical lost after move from mobileMe to iCloud

    Hi,
    Can someone help!!
I signed up to iCloud early on and thought everything would be fine after 1st of July when iCloud came into effect.
All my contacts, photo's movies and everything else are all still on my computer and phone.....
BUT all my ical entries have been wiped. And I have only realised now that mobileMe is no longer working.
What do I do.  I spoke with Apple and they have said there is nothing that can me done.
Does anyone know any tricks.  You will need to be specific as I am not a computer nut too by the way!!
Appreciate anyones help, my life is in there!!
    thanks

I don't think there are any 'tricks', sorry; there are only things that you can do if you'd had any sort of a backup strategy and have some resources already in place.
If you have a full backup of your hard drive, then you also have all of your old iCal data which can be pulled out and repopulated as of the day that the backup was made.
If you'd ever taken a snapshot of your current iCal status via the iCal > File > Export route, then you could rebuild from there.
Beyond those, not too much to try.

Can anyone please tell me where I am going wrong, or how the output for a XML feed called from a CFC should look in a browser etc?
    Thanks

Hey Dan....thanks for the prompt reply.
I added the wsdl and this is what I get when I call the service from this cfm page: http://www.prevu.tv/xyzTest.cfm
Have never seen output like this.  Is this correct?
The web service I'm writing is also for some .net developers so it may be that I need to output as string also - this discussion has not taken place yet.

  • How do you change the podcast feed from one website to another?

    Right now I'm using www.podstrike.com.
But I ran out of storage there, so I want to switch to www.mypodcast.com.
How can I do that, while maintaining the hundreds of subscribers I have?
    Thanks!
    -Me

    Birdhunter,
    You have 3 options,
    1. login to itunes on the new computer and under store hit check for available downloads and that will download all purchases.
    2. Home share your files from the old computer to the new one under the advanced tab using the same itunes account and drag and drop.
    3. If the purchase music is on a mobile device (i.e. iphone, ipod touch, ipad) plug it into the new computer and right click on the device in itunes and hit "transfer purchases"
    Hope this helps!

  • Podcast feed removed  after 3 years from itunes - help!!

    Hello Members,
We have had our podcast working for last 3 years. The feed works and it's just a Trance Progressive music feed and we have not had any problems since 2006. Last year Dec 21st we received an email stating the feed was removed due to technical difficulties. I have manually accessed the feed from itunes from the advanced menu and it works.
We have resubmitted the feed a month ago and no response from apple so far. Also, have exchanged emails with the apple support guys and they are of no help, they just copy/paste standard response.
    Our feed is:
    http://www.av-brothers.com/AV-Brothers/TrancePortal/rss.xml
We are lost and feel like Apple killed our podcast for no reason.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Aj & Vj
    www.av-brothers.com
    www.myspace.com/avbportal

They always say 'technical diffculties' whatever the real reason. Looking at your feed, it seems a possibility that they may be concerned that you are using copyrighted material without either the written consent of the owners or a valid licence from a recognized authority. If that's not the case, and you do in fact have permission or a licence, then you need to try to explain that to them.
Were you not to have permission then you would be in breach of copyright (not receiving payment doesn't affect that fact) and you can understand that they wouldn't want to be accused of publishing it (since there is still a legal row going on as to whether ISPs are publishers or simply transmitters of the contents of podcasts, file-sharing sites, and so on).

  • Move Podcast from MobileMe to GoDaddy

I know similar questions like this have already been asked.  I've read the various discussion and answers.  I think I know what I need to do, but I want to confirm it here on the boards.  A mistake could very well cost me listeners.
I have moved my site (created with iWeb) from MobileMe to GoDaddy.  Both sites are still live.  Now, I want to change the RSS code on my MM site to point subscriptions to the GD site.  Here is what I understand (thanks to reading Roger Wilmut's info at http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move):
    1.  In the RSS code (MM site), I need to add the following line of code: <itunes:new-feed-url>NEW URL FOR YOUR FEED</itunes:new-feed-url>
    2.  This code needs to be added between the "channel" tag the first "item" tag.  My first question is: should it be right below the channel and BEFORE the <title> info?
    3.  Now, here is the big question: what exactly should I put in for the NEW URL?  My MM and GD site / podcast information is below.
    MOBILEME SITE: http://web.me.com/markandjill/SW_Miniverse/Welcome.html
    MOBILEME PODCAST: http://web.me.com/markandjill/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniver se.html
    GODADDY SITE: http://www.swminiverse.com
    GODADDY POSCAST: http://www.swminiverse.com/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse. html
Any help is greatly appreciated!!  I think I know what to enter for the NEW URL, but I want to make sure I don't make a mistake.  Thank you!

I'm glad you checked, because it looks as if you were about to paint yourself into a corner. You've quoted the web pages for the two versions of the podcast: what matters are the feeds.
The original, MobileMe, feed is at
    http://web.me.com/markandjill/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/rss.xml
    The Godaddy feed is at
    http://www.swminiverse.com/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/rss.xml
Since iWeb doesn' provide for adding the tag, you are going to do it manually. Please follow these instructions very carefully.
Mount your iDisk on the Desktop (command-shift-i). Open the Web folder, then within that the Sites, folder, then the markandjill folder, then the SW_Miniverse folder, then the Star_Wars_Miniverse folder and locate the rss.xml file. Drag this to the Desktop to download it.
Now open this file in Text edit in PLAIN TEXT mode (not Rich Text which is often the default). Three lines down you will see the <channel> tag. Make a new line beneath this, reading:
    <itunes:new-feed-url>http://www.swminiverse.com/SW_Miniverse/Star_Wars_Miniverse/rss.xml</itunes:new-feed-url>
All one line, no returns within it, and I should copy this line to make sure you get it absolutely right.
Save the file as rss.xml - TextEdit will offer to add .txt on the end - don't allow this.
Drag the file to the Star_Wars_Miniverse folder on the iDisk, replacing the existing one. Leave it severely alone for at least two weeks. Do not publish anything from iWeb to the iDisk or you will over-write it.
You can check that it's worked; go to your iTunes Store page at
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/star-wars-miniverse/id326698031
Click the Subscribe button below the image. Go to the Podcasts section: control-click on the line with the podcast name (not an episode) and choose 'Copy Podcast URL'. Paste this into TextEdit - you should see the GoDaddy URL. It will take the Store page a few days to catch up. Subscribers will be automatically redirected to the new feed.

  • ITunes feed: moving from MobileMe to Rage Hosting

    Hi there,
So I've successfully moved my website from MobileMe to Rage, and I've updated the rss.xml file in my iDisk to redirect iTunes to the new URL feed of my podcast.  I'm a bit concerned because in migrating to Rage, the MobileMe portion of my website is now completely down.  I subscribed to my podcast in iTunes, and I get the following error message:
The URL "http://www.nathanyoga.com/yoga/Vinyasa_Yoga_with_Nathan_Johnson/rss.xml" could not be found on the server.  (Which is the URL of my old feed.)
The location of my new feed has slightly changed (it's just missing the "yoga" subpage) is at: "http://www.nathanyoga.com/Vinyasa_Yoga_with_Nathan_Johnson/rss.xml" could not be found on the server.
Has iTunes maybe not detected the change yet, or have I completely messed up the process?
    Thanks for your help,
    Nathanael

    Hi Roger.
When I publish new podcast episodes, they're published at the root level.  I noticed, though, that when I view the new rss.xml file at the root level (that I redirect iTunes to), it directs individual podcasts to the "yoga" folder.  Here's a new podcast I've posted since migrating to a new hosting service and redirecting iTunes to the root level.  Any idea why it still directs the link to the "yoga" subfolder?
    <item>
          <title>Level 1/2 / 60-minutes&#13;(9-27-11)</title>
          <link>http://www.nathanyoga.com/yoga/Vinyasa_Yoga_with_Nathan_Johnson/Entries/2012/6/8 _Level_1_2___60-minutes%289-27-11%29.html</link>

          <pubDate>Fri, 8 Jun 2012 09:13:22 -0700</pubDate>
iTunes sees the episode, but I get an error message when trying to download the NEW episode --- so I must create a copy of it in the 'yoga' subfolder in order for it to work OK.
I would, ideally, like to bypass this step but not sure it has to do with iTunes.  I think it has to do with the rss.xml file that's being created by iWeb.  Any ideas?
Thanks for all your help, Roger!
