Lost preset tone curve - Lightroom Default

I think I deleted by accident. I cannot find any way to restore factory defaults. Surely there must be. Tried right clicking but that does not work. I am running LR 1.1
Any suggestions?

Lee, thank goodness I run Powerquest image backup. I was able to open the backup browser and find the preset on the backup drive and restore it. Never did find a way to do this within Lightroom.

I have recenty had to reinstall all my software, and manged to find most of my old Lightroom settings in the Lightroom Presets folder (inside the Appdata folder on a PC) but I seem to have lost my custom tone curves.
Do you know which folder they should be in (indise the Lightroom Presets folder)

LR4: tone curve settings lost after upgrade

I've find an annoying bug in this new version that makes me really crazy.
I've a Nikon D300S and a D7000.
After the importation of the catalog in the new Lightroom 4 all the D7000 .dng files have lost all the tone curve settings (I normally use linear).
The D300S files instead retain the tone curve settings.
It's a very strange behaviour: I've lost more than half of my old photo settings.
It's really frustrating.
Will be resolve soon this problem?
Until that day, for my older works I'll be obliged to continue to use LR3.

I've probably found a sort of workaround!
I've made some "organized" tests and here I report my findings.
Using LR3.5, I prepared a "test catalog" using 4 images from 7 different cameras (28 images total): for each of them, I used both the original nef and the dng converted file (56 files in the catalog), all develop process was set to "2010".
The cameras were Nikon D70, D90, D200, D300s, D700, D5000, D7000.
I applied a strong tone curve to each image in a way that the appearance was heavily characterized.
Before exit LR3.5, I SAVED ALL THE METADATA TO THE FILES.
Opening and converting the catalog using LR4, doesn't show any visual change until I zoom in library or open the develop module: both these operation lead to a flat image with the strong tone curve lost.
Curiously, the history retains the original steps but they are ineffective: histogram and tone curve changes according to the visual change but for some camera the "new" tone curve is "medium contrast", for others (D5000, D90) is "linear", for D300s is "custom" (linear with blacks cut at 9.8%, and this explain my initial impression that D300s's curves were untouched, sorry). This last behavior may depend on the fact that I've different default develop settings depending on the camera serial number.
Finally, the update to the 2012 process only minimally changes the visual appearance and surely doesn't restore the lost tone curves.
And here is the UNEXPECTED WORKAROUND: doing a READ METADATA FROM FILES IT RESTORES THE TONE CURVES (and the 2010 process)! Upgrading the process to 2012 minimally changes the visual appearance again but now the strong tone curve is present and evident.

Right click on or near one of the other headers and a pop-up will appear and you will be able to select the Basic Panel for viewing.

LR4 Tone Curve default

Why in LR4 is the Tone Curve default set to Custom with a contrast lowering curve? I would like the default to be linear, but I can't remember how I set that up in LR3.

You probably had a preset for your camera in default develop settings, set to LR3- linear tone curve?
And now you have changed it into LR4- linear and have saved this as new develop default?
On this forum we prefer to share findings, so that others can benefit from by reading about it... It is not enough if just your particular issue is solved.

Camera Raw Default Tone Curve Function / Coordinates

Hi,
I would like to know where I can find the function / coordinates for the Lightroom / ACR default tone curve that is applied to any image.
I think it's the red one in that image, or it's very very close:
I want to generate a lookup table to match it's effect. For now I plotted something that is very very close but I lack precision at the bottom of my curve.

I'm confused - I thought the default was linear. I mean, this is probably not what you want, but here is a curve which makes PV2012's linear tone curve equivalent to PV2010 linear, or at least that's how I call it:

How do I set a preset in LR to import all files from my computer with a Medium Tone Curve?

I edit a file in PS, and LR informs me that the "metadata for the file has been changed." I opt for import settings from disk (my changes), but in doing so the file is always rendered with a linear tone curve. What I am seeking is to have the file that I've been working on PS, be with the same rendering in LR.

I just followed your workflow. In other words I used the "edit in" option to send an image to Photoshop where I made a significant change in the tone curve. Then I saved that image, which returned to Lightroom. The Lightroom tone curve still displayed as a linear curve. In other words it didn't reflect the changes that I made in Photoshop. However the image itself displayed the changes that were made. So apparently saving your PSD in Photoshop will not force Lightroom to display the Photoshop changes. As far as Lightroom is concerned, that is the new linear curve. The only curve adjustments you will see in Lightroom are the ones made using Lightroom.
To summarize what I'm trying to say, whatever you change the curve to in Photoshop becomes the linear curve in Lightroom. Sorry that I am so poor with words sometimes.

Hey i m really a newbie to lightroom 5 and i sometimes come across a issue while using a tone curve ... that for some images the Tone curve displays "Channel" options and for some not ... my question is how to make it visible for all images .. please help ..and thanks

Make sure the process version on the image is set to 2012. Look in Camera Calibration.

Lightroom 5.6 tone curve modifications about markers

I just upgraded from a previous version of Lightroom 5 to Lightroom 5.6 and I just realized that in the Tone Curve adjustment, I used to be able to drag my cursor along the edge of the field to lift up the grey. Now, the behaviours of the markers have changed. If I drag my cursor to the bottom left part, it lifts the Shadows but its doesn't drag it along the edges. Which is very upsetting since I used to play a lot with these adjustments and now I just can't.
Anyone else has noted those difference in the Tone Curve? Any solutions?

Click on the button at the bottom right with a curved-line-with-a-dot symbol and it’ll toggle between the two modes, down (darker) is point-curve, up is zone-sliders.

New User need help... can't make any adjustments othe then presets and Tone Curve

Not sure what you mean, but maybe you can try right-clicking on the Tone Curve (or other panel) heading and then check the other panels you want visible. In other words, in the Develop module, right-click next to the words "Tone Curve." Is that what you are after?
Edit: Or.... try the Window Menu and then click Panels and make sure the right panel is showing.

Lost Sliders in Tone Curve Dialogue 3. & 3.2

Windows XP- I cannot retrieve region sliders in Tone Curve in Develop module. Point curve still visible & useable. Can't find any info under communities. Anyone any ideas please? No problen on laptop Win 7 64. What have I done?

You clicked on the little square with a line through it in the lower right corner of the Tone Curve control, putting yourself into Point Curve mode. Click it again to go back.

I have a macbook pro, i installed lightroom 5, but i don't have HSL or Tone Curve Can anyone help ?

I installed a few months back, and now i notice i don't have HSL/Color/B&W or Tone curve, Have they been removed in an upgrade ?

Right click on any of the other panels header and a context menu will pop that will let you select the "missing" panels.
