Lost printing capability

I have an Epson rx 650 multifunction printer. I've used it for many years without a problem. Recently, my MacBook Pro won't print on it. Everything looks like it is working and before the printer actually starts printing, it stops without a message in the printer window.  There is a little "error" in the print utility box. It says Error:/Library/printers/Epson/InkjetPrinter2/Filter/rastertoescpll.app/Contents /MacOS/rastertoescpll failed
I can scan into the computer.  I can print from another computer. My MacBook Pro will print on another printer. I can't actually remember if I used the printer since I updated the system to 10.6.8.
I don't know the next step to fix this problem. Any suggestions?

Go to System Preferences - Print & Fax / Print.
Select:  Open Print Queue
Delete any print jobs in the list. Quit System Preferences, try printing.

  • Lost print capability on Mac 5 years after install

Yesterday my home office network lost print capability with both my Windows and Mac computers. I was able to re-enter a new IP address for Windows - up and running. I have been trying all tricks I know which aren't many due to the reliability of my AirPort Extreme mushroom router. I was able to print once, one document at a time on my Mac but have to reset the network single IP address each time. What's up?

I have been trying all tricks I know which aren't many +due to the reliability of my AirPort Extreme mushroom router.+
Not sure what you mean by that. What have you tried?
First things first, if your Extreme is 5 years old, the proper forum to ask post is in this one: Airport Extreme (non-802.11n model).
Next, if you're really running OS X 10.4.5 you ought to update it to the latest version of Tiger, which is 10.4.11. I know of no reason not to update.
You might be successful by simply deleting the printer from your printer list and adding it again. I've also found it's best to assign the printer a fixed IP address. If your network suffers a power failure causing your Extreme to reassign IP addresses, your printer won't receive a different one next time it boots. When that happens, it makes the printer hard to find, network-wise.
I've assigned my network printers an address of 10.0.1.100, 10.0.1.101, etc, which leaves plenty of available addresses on that subnet, so consider doing that.

  • Lost Printing Capability to HP Photosmart 8050

After pouring over the printing forum issues and resolutions, I have yet to find a real solution to regain the ability to print to my HP Photosmart Printer. After completing this 10.5.8 upgrade, Apple has seemly left a lot of us out in the cold with no hat or gloves! I suspect that I will resort to reinstall a previous version of my OS just to get it to work again, but would like to express my disappointment to Apple for not addressing this issue, since its been several WEEKS since its users have expressed their concerns and sought answers to resolve their issues. I can almost guarantee that I will NOT upgrade to snow leopard unless I am provided not only a hat and gloves, but a warm coat and a pair of boots. Thanks to you on the forum for your many attempts to assist us users in our hour of need.

I feel your pain, and today I logged about 5 hours trying every trick or suggestion I found. My HP is a Photosmart 7350, and it actually quit printing back with 10.2, but it wasn't until the last few days that I began digging in. Today, I bounced between HP's site, sourceforge.net, Apple and more. What drove me crazy was that my HP inkjet utility could print (instantly) but none of my attempts with OS X 10.8 and Gutenprint 5.4 were working.
I tried the suggestion (below) from komputerwz66 and downloaded the HP Photosmart printer driver - Macintosh OS X v 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4 (despite the website's notation that it was for these versions only). When I ran the HP setup after downloading, I couldn't even find the 7350 in the list, so I proceeded as if I were using the Photosmart 8000.
    It worked.

  • Why have I lost PDF printing capability through the File Print menu?  When will it be fixed?

Why have I lost PDF printing capability through the File>Print menu?  When will it be fixed?

What app are you using to view PDF files? Preview can be a poor choice for some PDF files - I recommend using Adobe Reader - http://get.adobe.com/reader/ - perhaps it will solve your printing problem.

Thanks for your detailled description of the faxmodem installation!
I've tried this with Mac OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion and it works fine.
I've to type "cupsctl WebInterface=yes" in terminal to see the interface.
Does anybody know, if send faxes are saved somewhere?

  • Printing capability lost after upgrading to ios5

What can I do to get printing capability back.  Using iPad 1 & a cannon printer that is not on the list but it worked before using the shared printer via my wireless network.

yes My Ipad will not see my printer on wifi it was working 100% till the IOS 5 update and apple don't seem to be looking into this fault.
If they want folk to not buy apple stuff there going the right way about it every update sees a new problem.
it is used in the office so how they can't notice that the print function is not working.
or should I say not seeing the printer what else is screwd up.

  • Lost printing from iPad with B210a

Lost iPad printing capability on B210a after cartridge change; worked perfectly before.  Using airport router tied to a Zytel router, iPad Bluetooth disabled. No problem with IMac printing over same wireless network immediately following failed iPad attempt.  Have powered down and rebooted printer, routers and iPad following other posts suggestions; iMac still works perfectly.  Printer appears to recognise iPad on print command (ie, "preparing", "printing page 1 of 1" with no "printer not responding" on iPad messages) but operating iPad adjacent to printer results in no output.  ePrint app recognises B210a. This was not a problem prior to the cartridge change and there has been no upgrade/change in iPad.  Printer que shows zero.

Ok, good deal then.  You had originally stated there were no documents in the print queue, but I guess you meant from the iMac.  Print queues can get hung up for many reason.  It's just something that happens sometimes.
In case anyone reads this that doesn't know how to clear your print queue on an Apple device, you can double press the Home button (round button on the front) twice like double-clicking a mouse.  This will pop up a single row of icons of recent applications at the bottom of the screen.  If the print queue is stuck, you will see an app called Print Center with a number in a red circle.  Just open Print Center and clear out the pending jobs.
If I have solved your issue, please feel free to provide kudos and make sure you mark this thread as solution provided.
Although I work for HP, my posts and replies are my own opinion and not those of HP.

  • Viewing and printing capability

    Hello,
What are the viewwing and printing capability from iFS ? What printing format are suported ? Can I send multiple documents to a print server ?
    Thanks, Marco Anzile from Switzerland.

The current version of iFS is not a print server. We are considering this for a future version.

  • DVD Printer (a printer capable of printing directly on a DVD)?

    Hello,
I hope this is the right forum for this question: has anybody had experience with DVD printers (a printer capable of printing directly on a DVD)? Is there a special kind of DVDs required for these printers? What printer works well, does anybody have experience with these?
A search on these forums brought no results. Also, I am not interested in label makers.
    Thanks!
    -Dima

Epson and Canon both have great ink jet printers that allow for dvd printing directly to the top surface (normally to a white surface dvd). For the past few years I've been using white surface Verbatim and a Canon Printer IP3000. Newer models do an even better job.

  • E-Print Capable

Is the Officejet Pro 8500 e-print capable?

    Hi,
According to the list of HP web enabled printers, your printer is e-Print enabled. You'll find setup instructions for e-Print here.

  • I've lost the capability to print pages (e.g., from Amazon) and after uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, the problem persists.

I had to go to Internet Explorer to print an invoice copy from Amazon.com. I've never had to NOT use Firefox before to do this. I lost some of the icons, apparently, and one was the one for print.

Please check for the issue in a new profile: [[managing profiles]].

  • Upgrade to OS X 8.2 lost wireless printing capability to Canon MF8380c

I can't believe how difficult it has been to resolve this ... upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS X 8.2 and have now lost my ability to print wirelessly to my Canon MF8380c.  I've downloaded updated drivers from the Canon site, didn't help.  The computer is not seeing the Canon printer on its own and even when I type in the printer IP address, it doesn't work.  Any suggestions?  I'm not particularily computer literate - step-by-step instructions very helpful.

That's okay. With Safari being unable to connect I just wanted to check that the Mac and the MF were on the same subnet. So if you can check this, the IP subnet is determined by the subnet mask. If you have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, then the first three sets of numbers in your IP address is the subnet and the last number is the network address.
For example, a printer with an IP address of 192.168.0.10 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 has an IP subnet of 192.168.0 and a network address of 10. To print to this printer a computer on the same network would also need an IP subnet of 192.168.0 but a different network address.
So if your Mac and the MF have the same IP subnet but a different IP address then they should be able to communicate with eash other. But I think this may not be the case based on your Safari test, unless the new IP address the printer has is now letting you connect to the internal web page of the MF.
If you can open the MF web page now then open Print & Scan, remove the current MF printer and add again. Note that if you add the printer using IP, you must use the LPD protocol.

  • For 3 years my iMac and miniMac both communicated with a Canon printer and the internet using an Airport Extreme.  Last winter, the miniMac lost printing via the Airpor and now can't communicate with the network at all.

For three years my iMac and Mac mini were networked via Airport Extreme with a printer and the internet.  More recently, I added an iMac and iPhone.   PROBLEMS:  A few months ago the Mac mini lost its connection to  the printer, and now it cannot locate the network at all.

If you use the extreme as a router then the tc should be connected via its wan port to one of the lan ports on the extreme. Tc should be set up in bridge mode. Basically you could set it up to create another wireless network beside the one created by the extreme. There is no need to use WDS or extend the other network.
Use the same SSID and password for both machines. Computers will connect to the strongest signal.

  • Leopard & Ricoh Aficio 2022: lost printer options

After upgrading to Leopard, I've been unable to correctly print on our Aficio 2022 PS printer. More precisely, I can print, but I've lost all the specific features of the printer: no stapling, no duplex printing, nothing.
I did an archive & install, then installed the PPD I downloaded from the Ricoh web site (Leopard does not have built-in support for the 2022). The PPD files seem to be quite old, but they used to work perfectly under Tiger. Now, with Leopard, it's as if none of the printer options were available (and of course, I selected the right PPD file when configuring the printer under System Preferences, then chose the relevant printer options).
Has anybody found similar problems? (either with Ricoh printers or others)
Thanks in advance for any hints.
    David.

I tried the same thing with my archive and install and tried just using the PPD but kept getting an error about not all components installed or something. So once I found the actual driver install disk and ran the installer, it sets up fine now - but I keep getting communication errors with the printer now and can't even print to it. Same with someone else in the office who also is now on leopard.
Have a Ricoh Aficio 5560 or something and a Fiery E-7000
