Lost project from library

Hi can anyone help me?
I went to open project from the library today and it is missing from the project library.
I have found the file in iMovie project folder but it will not open or drag and drop into iMovie to open
Any advice welcome

Hi
If You moved or altered any folder named
• iMovie Event's - or -
• iMovie Project's
on DeskTop/Finder
Then connection back to iMovie most probably is broken - and this especially if material is moved to an external hard disk FORMATTED as UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - then the problem get's even worse and with a HIGH Risk of in a non mendable way.
All movings of Event's and Project's must
• be done within the iMovie application
• to a Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted hard disk
else all can be lost.

  • How do I retrieve lost projects from the trash?

Hi, I made a huge mistake this morning, and moved the wrong project to the trash.  How do I retrieve it? I did not empty the trash, i tried dragging it into fcp x, i drug it to the desktop then tried importing it and nothing is working. I also right clicked and selected "open with FCP" and it said you can only open files within final cut pro. I really need help
    The file type is ".fcpproject"

No, not the project file. When you delete a project from the project library and whole folder of material goes into the trash. The whole folder should be returned to its correct location in the Final Cut Projects folder when the application is closed.

  • Removing Events, Projects from Library manually

    Hi
Has anyone removed either Events or Projects from the Library manually (deleting from package contents on drive)?
Any reason there could be a problem?

Ah, so you do have experience of what can go wrong. That's different. I just posted a discussion about my experiment.
You say do it inside, I see no way to do that. Not without copying the project''s media along with the project. And that happens with external consolidation too right. If I consolidate an event (projects only) outside FCPX, it will copy the media used in those projects also. I don't want to copy the original clips that constitute the 40+minutes of the first half or the 45 minutes I've reached with more to do of the second half.
The reason I would do it is that I'm having lots of twirling color ball and drop down windows saying projects that are unneeded are loading. Into the ram. I'm trying to figure out how to lessen the ram's load and it always seems to load old projects. Editing segments of a feature-length doc, I often experiment where I see a possible different route, and if I'm going to make more than a couple changes, or I'm not sure if I am, I duplicate the project and continue working. I don't think that's uncommon.
In FCP and earlier versions of FCPX you could easily get past the problem by: in FCP, duplicating the project and deleting old sequences (you could always copy back in), or in earlier FCPX, removing specific event and project folders from Final Cut Events and Final Cut Projects folders (you could always return).
THANKS for taking the time to help, I very much appreciate it.

When trying to sign on to itunes it wouldn't come up but the choices presented-cancel-chose library -or create library. I clicked chose library and chose the most recent, which was from 2006, and all songs since 2006 which I purchased are not there. What happened?

  • Recover lost Projects from cache

We have a Project Server 2010 install, from which we have noticed some projects missing. I can see copies of the projects in the local cache - but they are .mpc files, which I cannot open.  I need to convert these to .mpp files, so I can re-load them
to the server. Anyone know how?

    stevecraig55 --
I am not aware of any way to convert the MPC file in your Local Cache to an enterprise project.  If you need to recover deleted enterprise project, ask your Project Server administrator to restore the deleted project using the Administrative Restore
feature in the system.  This is assuming, of course, that your administrator is using the Scheduled Backup feature in Project Server to run a nightly backup of all enterprise projects.  Hope this helps.

  • IPhoto lost pictures from library

    Greetings all.
    I'm running OSX 10.9.2
    and iPhoto 9.5.1
I do regular back ups and when I updated 2 days ago and then opened up iPhoto there are only a few seemingly random pictures left.
Upon searching my computer with finder for .jpg files I can find all my photo files still on the computer showing up under Desktop>Preview>(Master or thumbnail)>Then files are broken into files based on date.
How can I re-establish these files in the iPhoto library?
    Thanks all!!

    Ok... Here's something weird now.
I'm attempting to do the backup and it is showing my iphoto library as "Preview"
The "Preview" when selected selects as an iphoto library and contains the 20+GB of data consistent with my photos.
Why would it call it preview and not iPhoto library?

  • How to in imovie 10.0.2 combine projects from library into a movie then export to DVD?

Having trouble exporting imovie to a DVD.  Can it be done without additional purchase??   Does drag drop combine multi project videos to create 1 movie?  (I have not tried this so far, nervous I might loose my work)  Thank You for any help....

Thanks.  I now see that I need to go to File then start new event there.
And on the "updated projects" point, I'll have to play around with that so I can understand it better, I hope.
But on my last point, to clarify, I can access my iphoto videos using the CURRENT version of imovie, but when I use the LAST imovie version, I can only get iphoto videos that were imported into iphoto PRIOR to my upgrading to Mavericks (at least I think that is what has happened?!).  ( and I'm using the most recent version of iphoto in all instances)  Any other thoughts on this?  Thanks.

  • I have an extensive aperture library on my computer's hard drive and I want to break it up into separate smaller libraries on external hard drives.  How do I take projects from one library and add them to another one?

I have an extensive aperture library on my computer's hard drive and I want to break it up into separate smaller libraries on external hard drives.  How do I take projects from one library and add them to another one?

    Coastal,
Frank gave you the exact answer to your question.
However, I would like to ask if you are indeed asking the right question.  Do you really want different libraries?  The implications are that you have to "switch" libraries to see what's in the others, and so that your searches don't work across all of your pictures?  If so, then you asked the right question.  If not, you may be more interested in relocating your masters to multiple hard drives so your library gets smaller, instead of breaking up the library.

  • Somehow my itunes started a new library and I lost my old library. Itunes will not allow me to sync new music to my ipod without deleting stored music from ipod. How can I start using this new library and sync the new music without losing existing music.

Somehow my Itunes started a new music library and I lost the old library.  Itunes will not allow me to sync new music from my computer to my Ipod because it is now in a different library. Itunes wants to delete all my Ipod music before sync any new music. How do I work around this. I think this happened during Itunes Upates.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • How can I MOVE some projects from one library to another?

As the aperture library grows quite big and I want to split it into several smaller ones. How can I move projects from the old library to a new one without export them and re-import them all again? Is it possible to retain all adjustments after migration?
    Thanks!

You export the project by CTRL / Right- click the project and choose 'Export' > 'Project'. The same if you go via the file menu.
Every adjustment you made, books created, albums etc. will be kept in the exported project and are available again when you import it to another library.

How do I move a project from one library to a different existing library in Aperture 3.2.3?

Export as a Library, then import into the second (already existing) Library.
    From the User Manual:
In the Library inspector, select the items you want to transfer, then choose File > Export > Items as New Library.

Your i-device was not designed to be a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself backed up. Sync transfer is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer (except purchased content as mentioned below).  For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will probably have to use third party commercial software unless you have an older model iPod. • I have Iphoto library in Aperture.  Can I move the projects from iPhoto to aperture project by dragging?

I have Iphoto library in Apeture.  Can I move the projects from iPhoto to aperture project by dragging (within the apeture program)? Is this making a duplicate of all the photos? It seems to work??  It then leaves my Iphoto library in apeture empty.  I would like to do this just to reorganize the photos between the two.  I feel that I may have doubles and would like all pictures of one year in same project in Aperture instead of going between both.

Tell us more, please. I am not quite sure, what you want to do and how you are using Aperture and iPhoto?
Which versions of Aperture and iPhoto are you using?
Do you have separate photo libraries for Aperture and iPhoto, or are you opening your iPhoto libraries in Aperture?
I have Iphoto library in Apeture.
Did you import an iPhoto library into Aperture?  And now you are seeing a section "iPhoto Library"  in the Aperture projects list in the Inspector?
Events and albums you imported from iPhoto (Import > Library > Some iPhoto Library) will be imported as Aperture projects and albums, and they will behave exactly as other Aperture projects and albums.
Can I move the projects from iPhoto to aperture project by dragging (within the aperture program)? Is this making a duplicate of all the photos? It seems to work??  It then leaves my Iphoto library in apeture empty.
You can drag images from any project in Aperture to other projects and that will move (not duplicate) the images and all its versions to that project. And when you drag all images from the project to another project, the remaining project will be empty and can be deleted.  (Caution: Photos that you have hidden in iPhoto will not be visible in Aperture. If you are not sure, if you have hidden photos, open the library again in iPhoto and unhide all photos).
I feel that I may have doubles and would like all pictures of one year in same project in Aperture instead of going between both.
There should be no problem with moving all photos from the same years to the same projects. You can also drag projects in "Projects" view on top of each other. That will merge them.
You could also define smart albums in Aperture to search for images taken at a specific period of time:
File > New > Smart album:
Then, in the Smart Settings HUD, click "Add Rule" and add a Date or Calendar rule.
For example, to find all images taken in 2010, use a rule "Date > Capture Year is > 2010"
To search for Photos taken at a specific date or at several dates, use a "calendar" rule. This way, you do nat have to type the date, but can pick it from a mini calendar.

Thank you for your help.  I am still having trouble.  As you can tell, I am not technologically advanced AT ALL.  My music is all showing up in the library but when I go to file in the top left corner, Sync is greyed out and I cannot select it.  I'm gonna continue to try this.  It's been a long time since I had my 1st ipod and things have changed so much I will probably need to research this stuff.  Thanks again for your help.
