Lost Projects and Photo's

From what I have read, I like many of you have lost all projects and images as soon as I did the upgrade. Being an old ****, I am having trouble trying to understand and retrieve all my files. Unsuccessful to-date, need help in layman's language.

What were your previous versions?
What MacOS X version did you upgrade from?
What Aperture version did you upgrade from? Are you now using Aperture 3.5.1?
Where is your Aperture version stored? On your internal drive or an external volume?
What happens, when you launch Aperture? Does Aperture not launch at all? Do you get an error message or simply see an apparently empty Aperture window?

Retreive lost music and photos after ipod updates automatically?

is it possible to retreive lost music and photos that are wiped from the ipod IF I dont have the original in itunes?
i ask this cause i have all my stuff on an external drive that was corrupted. i also had an additional issue where my powerbook hard drive had to be replaced by apple (some luck huh?) at the same time. when i plugged in the ipod it erased all the songs and photos and videos! i know what i did wrong here, i was just wondering if all is not lost...

It is possible, you just need one of those programs - search google, names like irip etc.
Once you have the program it will bring everything up again in your itunes program, I found even deleted songs that were brought back. Fantastic feature...
Don't let anyone say you can't! it is possible, just something your not suppose to do with apple.

Why do my projects and photos keep disappearing?

So I've imported a bunch of photos into Aperature, and into a specific project and then I leave thre program and re-enter the project and the photos are no longer there, I just get a untitled project with no photos in it. Any ideas? I've lost over 1000 photos and have no idea where they've gone.

So after the subscriptions disappeared yesterday, I resubscribed to Democracy Now! and Bill Moyers Journal.
This morning, I went to check iTunes... and two of the subscriptions were gone -- AGAIN! And the episode of Democracy Now! that remained behind was now listed under real Tim with Bill Maher.
I'm getting so frustrated with this... why am I having to re-subscribe to podcasts every day now?

Lost contacts and photos during a backup. Can I retrieve them without a new backup?

I plugged in my husband's phone to add music and it made me update iTunes before doing so. I did and it restored my husband's phone to an old backup from a while ago. He lost all his new contacts and photos, which include our daughter's birth that was this week. I'm so mad right now. Is there any way to recover these without a current backup?

If you had an IMAP mail account then all your emails are stored on the server, so install Thunderbird and create the IMAP mail account to see folders and emails on the server.
If you had a POP mail account then all of your emails were stored on the computer and you should have been creating regular backups of your Profile folder or at least created a backup of your Profile (and any other documents / images etc on your computer ) before wiping the computer/reformatting and reinstalling OS. So you can use the backup to reinstall the Profile. If you used MozBackup tool to create the *.psv file, then reinstall MozBacktool and use it to restore the Profile.

If you did not create a backup of the Profile, but backed up/saved emails as .eml files saved to an external device, then you could use this addon to put those .eml files back into the new Profile.

HT1414 Lost camera and photo app.

I lost my camera and photo apps from my home screen and can't figure out how to restore them. I can access the camera from the lock screen.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen layout.

Lost Videos and Photos of iPhone 5

I recently updated from my old iPhone 4s, to a new iPhone 5.
My new iPhone 5, I had one Family Video on it and some photos.
As I had no addresses or Phone numbers on my new iPhone 5, so I used iTunes to restore to my old address book phone numbers etc.
In the process I lost all the information which was on My iPhone 5 including that Video and photo's which was not backed up to iTunes.
Is there a way of getting it back ?

Lost files and photos?

i have had my time machine for about 1.5 years and recently when i updated to mac osx Lion all my past files and photos have been removed for some unknown reason! It is very annoying..help?

Recover deleted or lost documents and photos

I moved documents and photos to my La Cie back up drive. I thought I merely copied, but actually moved. I reformated my back up drive. Will recovery software be able to recover either from my hard drive or the back up drive?

Not sure if Mountain Lion offers more than my Snow Leopard. Forgive me for being wise after the event, (I've made the error myself) but it does pay to have more than one back up. A complete bootable clone which you top up every three months or so plus Time Machine.
I'm not solving your problem, I know, but mentioned with good will.

Can anyone help me find my lost sms and photos?

i have recently backed up my iphone 4s, restored original settings and reinstalled my data. in the process I have lost some photos (the most important ones) and all sms. I'm gutted and have spent a lot of time unsuccessfully trying to retrieve them. Unfortunately when i plugged in my phone to my computer again after realising they'd gone my phone automatically synced again after inital sync. The only back up showing is the one after i lost the data.
is there any way i can retrieve my lost data?

Thank you for your reply. Apologies i'm not very technologically minded. I basically backed up my iphone on my computer and then restored it. It gave me an option on my phone to 'restore as new' which i did NOT do... or another option.. can't remember what it said now but it basically put most of the data back on my phone including music, apps etc and most of my photos. However 2 or 3 albums are missing, the entire photo stream, all my notes and also most importantly all my messages which i'm really sad to have lost.
After i realised they were lost i stupidly plugged my phone back in which did an automatic sync so now the latest sync is one done after the loss of data. I read somewhere that there should be a list of back ups but i only seem to have the latest (post deletion) one.

Lost phone and photos/videos

I lost my iphone 5c and with it photos/videos of my father and husband who passed away 3 months apart. I am not sure if I had the iCloud backup feature turned on. Is there a way to find these photos/videos?

You should be importing them to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera. Did you fail to do this?

Lost Projects and strange Rates

I just switched to a bigger HD so that I might have more virtual memory to support FCPX. All my FCPX info was on a separate internal drive. So all I did was clone with SuperDuper! the startup drive. When I opened FCPX all the events were there (with associated clips) but only the last project I was working on was in the Project Window! Using Finder to go into the folder does nothing. I even deleted all the FCPX preferences I could find. I am using 10.0.3 (trial) and 10.7.3.
I changed format from 1080i to 720P, size 1280X720. The only rate I get is 25. Shouldn't it be 30 (29.97?)
I have 23 days left on the trial. Can I delete and re-insall if need be?

Are you making a new project? You should see 29.97. You can't change the timebase of an existing project with video in it.

Lost programs and photos

i'm a new mac user and now i have some problems and i don't know whats going on...it started with i photo one day all my photos where there the next more than half were gone and i don't know what happened? now the whole i photo looks like it restarted all my folders are gone every photo and when i opened it was as though it had never been used before... now i also see on my bar that the i movie turned into a questions mark?? i also had a program for my palm on the computer it also turned into a question mark and now it's gone..my photo booth now is gone...it's like things just keep getting removed and i don't even know how to check for anythings with this computer,,, i really have no idea about these computers and i really want to learn, but most of all see if i can get all my photos back...can anyone pls help me or maybe have a clue of what could be going on??????

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you seeing the thumbnails or not? If you're seeing thumbnails what do you see when you double click on one?
To make sure your photos are still safe and sound locate the iPhoto Library package in your Pictures folder. Control-click on it and select "Show Package Contents" in the Contextual menu. Then locate the Originals folder and check inside to make sure the full sized image files are there. Report back with what you find.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Lost videos and photos after I clicked I wanted to format my SanDisk 256mb micro sd

Hello, I am in need of some help with my blackberry curve model 8320. I have about 8 videos of my dog when he was a puppy and my nephew as well as photos that I am missing. I bought a SanDisk 256mb micro card for my phone and it has been in their for about a year. The guy at the tmobile store set everything up for me. Well I was going through my phone yesterday because some of my videos could not be sent through email and I made a huge MISTAKE. It asked me to format my media card. I said yes, not knowing it would delete all my current photos and videos. Is their anything I can do to get them back or are they gone forever?? I would appreciate any advice. I called tmobile and of course the gentlemen advised me their is nothing I can do now.

8.1.1 lost videos and photos

I try to sync once in a while. Recently I went to sync some songs and it got partially through the sync and said not enough space. So I cleared a bunch of stuff off my hard drive non related to my phone or pics/vids. Got the songs on to phone. Then, the other night I downloaded this 8.1.1. Did not think a thing about it, but today I noticed a lot of very good vids and pics were GONE.... Before I try to sync and forever kill my chances of recovering these.... what should I do? This is a real bummer. Sadly this is very typical of the new APPLE... release software before actually testing it.

A rebuild removed projects from photos and put empty projects in the trash.

I'm running Aperature 3.2.4 in OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) on a MacBook Pro 1,1
I have a large library of 37,000 images on an external hard drive. I have experienced a number of problems which culminated in a corrupted drive and library which I have taken several steps to repair. In an attempt to be thorough, I may be including more info than necessary, but here is my tale.
1) There have been inconsistencies for some time when deleting photos in the camera (compact flash card uploaded through camera) when importing photos. Occurring more frequently, the photos did not get deleted when I made that selection, most normally with the unmount camera box check. This is a big deal, I adapted by checking the camera when it was unmounted.
2) I hadn't been emptying the trash in Aperture and accumulated several hundred photos in the trash. Blame it on procrastination and no appearance of pressing necessity.
3) My camera has developed some problems with the USB port, perhaps getting worn with a lot of use. When importing photos, the camera has recently started disconnecting during the import of photos..
4) This has resulted in a corrupted drive directory, which I was able to repair with Disk Warrior. It also resulted in photos that were not in the Aperture library. Aperture was no longer able to see those unimproved photos, no matter what drive I was able to copy them to. I resolved the import problem by changing the file name slightly. I assume that Aperture registers filenames before importing, and if the import fails, Aperture is unable to see that the import failed. I have added those files by changing the file names, and my long term solution was to get a CF card reader.
5) I thought that my problems were solved, but when I opened Aperture today, I got a dialog box telling me that I need to repair permissions, then another about rebuilding the library, and a whole series of failed attempts to do so with a string of boxes suggesting that I quit, rebuild, or repair, all attempts eventually hanging. Disk Warrior tells me that several plists mostly involving changes could not be repaired. After several attempts and restarts, I was able to open the library in Aperture.
6) The left window was missing a large number of projects, but in photo view, all of the photos and versions were there with the meta data showing a path to the original projects. In the project view, all of the projects were there, but I could not open any by clicking on them. When I viewed the trash contents, there were a lot of empty projects. It was probably a mistake, but I emptied the trash.
7) I have not closed Aperture for fear that might result in changing those paths attached to photos. Hopefully they are the key to setting things straight.
Is there any way I can undue the trash dump, or otherwise return photos to the appropriate projects? I'm talking about nearly 400 projects, so this is not a minor glitch.

I quit Aperture, which hung up while writing preveiws, so I did a force quit. I restarted Aperture while holding down command and option keys, but Aperture opened directly into library with all projects and photos intact. Oddly enough the projects seem to be in a random order, certainly a different order.
I closed Aperture without a problem
I ran Disk Warrior again, and once again there are damaged property lists that cannot be repaired. There are 9 plists numbered from
File: "0000000002.plist"
thru
File: "0000000012.plist"
all in
Aperture Library.aplibrary/Database/History/Changes/
I opened Aperture again while holding down command and option keys, this time getting the dialog I wanted, and I'm now running Repair Library Database.
Well the dang thing seems to be hung at "Repairing Library 100% complete"
I'll give it a while, Force Quit and try again.
Any suggestions? Should I try a rebuild on the next try?
