Lost quick reply text when new message arrived

I was typing a quick reply to a notification of an iMessage message when a new message arrived. The notification for that message was immediately displayed, losing the text of my reply.
Is this normal? Should I report it as a bug?

I opened Google Chat in a tab and pinned it as an App Tab, but the App Tab does not "glow" when new message arrives in Google Chat.

I am running Firefox 4.0.
I opened this page for Google Talk (http://talkgadget.google.com/talkgadget/client), signed in, and initiated a chat with one of my contacts.
Then, I pinned the tab (containing the above chat page) as an App Tab.
According to the documentation for Firefox 4, when the contents of an App Tab's page is changed, the corresponding tab is highlighted.
However, when a new chat message arrives in the Google Talk page (that corresponds to the pinned App Tab), the tab is not highlighted.
App Tab highlighting works for Gmail, and other web pages (i.e., when other web pages are pinned as App Tabs the corresponding tab is highlighted when the contents of the page changes), but App Tab highlighting does not work for the Google Talk page. Is this a bug in Firefox 4?

@cor-el: I think you are correct ... App Tabs do not glow when the content of the page changes (which would result in the tab "glowing" when a new Google Talk message arrived) ... but App Tabs only glow when the tab title changes.
I thought about writing a java script (to be used with greasemonkey) to change the tab title when a new message arrives in the Google Talk page .... but the Google Talk page looks like it's Adobe Flash.
I know that there is a "beep" when a chat message arrives, but I wanted some kind of visual notification (like the glowing App Tab) when a message arrives (because my computer is playing music and I don't hear the "beep" when a message arrives).
Any suggestions for getting a visual notification when new Google Talk chat message arrives?

I'm not sure I understand the question, is the message tone going more then once?
Turn off repeat message alert here:
settings > notifications > messages > repeat alert > never
Some people have found this does not stop the repeat miessage tone,
if you are one of those then I suggest you contact Apple:

I resolved both my problems. The problems with Walgreens is that my own Frontier internet connection is very slow and will allow only minimal downloads. When I used a Verizon Hot Spot to download pictures they downloaded without any problem. So I am working iwth Frontier to resolve my slow internet speed. The problem with pictures be syncronized to a gallery was resolved by using the Help column and the pictures were easily deleted by following their instructions.

If jms can destroy unsent message when new message comes?

I'm new to JMS and have a question about the pub/sub model. Hope experts can give some instructions.
My application has multi-publisher and multi-subscriber of a topic. Since the subscriber sometimes is slow, one message may not have been processed before another message is published. I wonder if the JMS will queue the new message up and send out later when possible. If that is the case, there may be more than one messages piled in JMS. Because the subscriber in my application only interests in the most recent message, is there a way to config JMS to destroy the unsent messages when any new message arrives?

Bounce Mail in Dock when New Mail arrives?

So I'm migrating over to Mail after 14+years on AOL mail and I'm wondering if there is a way to have the Mail application icon in the Dock bounce when a new email arrives, similiar to the way the AOL one does?

Just saw this message today when looking for an answer on something for myself and thought I'd respond. So sorry for the late response and if you've all ready found an answer, but at least for others looking to perform a similar action when new email arrives.
This can be done with a simple rule. I have mine set to "If all conditions are met", "Email is in <My Mailbox Name>", "Message is addressed to [email protected]" then "Bounce Icon in Dock".
My spam goes to a different folder on my email account so spam isn't caught by this.

New Message Arrived -- but I don't really have any!

I am going batty...After I (obviously) added some apps, every time I turn on my Droid Charge, I get a voice prompt that says, "New Message Arrived". I have checked & looked & searched, but I'm darned if I can figure out WHERE that notification is coming from!!!
I searched through the forum but haven't been able to figure out how to stop this erroneous notification from broadcasting every time I turn on my phone.
Can anyone help? Any suggestions on where to look?

The member said, "Found it. It was under " text-to-speech" settings...had to uncheck "driving mode" which states all incoming calls and messages will be read out loud automaticly. "
As soon as I UNCHECKED that Driving Mode setting, life was back to wonderfulness!!!!

For some reason I no longer hear a tone when a message arrives on my iPhone 5. Occasionally I do get a tone, but usually not - any suggestions?

Check to make sure you do not have the 'Do Not Disturb' feature turned on. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and make sure the crescent-shaped moon icon is not highlighted. If so, turn it off. Make sure you do not have your phone set to vibrate and that your volume is loud enough to hear the tone alert.

Sorry for not quite understanding. I guess you are referring to a notice in an alert. I do not have that alert active on my device, so I cannot say. I use the banner alert, so I just get a notice of a message and can swipe to open that particular message. If I ignore it, it will eventually go away.

As per usual, I spend days working on a problem, finally give up and post to the discussion groups, THEN find the solution. It was the Signature file. It had either become corrupt (it contains graphics) or the bug fixes in 10.5.5 didn't like it. Either way, removed the sig file and everything works great again! Thanks!

Hello hello!3 weeks ago i brought my mobile to be fixed and they told me tht everything was ok and tht my mob was updated...Now,i tried to see if everything is ok,but it still does not ring when a message arrives.I don't know what else to do!!!

Think you need to again get the device inspected by Nokia Care..but before that first back-up all your important data and try a Factory Reset ( Menu-->Settings-->General-->Factory settings... followed by 12345 (Default code unless set by you) when prompted. If that doesn't work..dial *#7370# followed by the code as above. Be warned that this will erase all data from the phone memory ...
